Home service is great for us wirelessly challenged

terrible customer service, geeks only concern $$$

They could not find my order, or that I had paid, even when I showed them my credit card statement and their emails. The geeks showed up demanding money, and did not seem to have any concern for my situation. Originally sent two geeks to assess. They left without doing anything. Second time a different geek showed up and he did nothing. They just kept giving reasons why they could not even work on my network. I would never ever use these guys for anything.

Loved having someone else install everything
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.All prior iTunes that were deleted in old computer (5000+) showed back up on new computer's iTunes library. NOT HAPPY!!! I paid them to transfer my library NOT songs I had previously deleted!!! Had to delete them again. Any suggestions on how to prevent this next time??? Going to say I would recommend to a friend but that is questionable...

Part of set up was great, follow up was lacking,

When I needed follow up because things started happening that should not, I couldnt get someone who new how to correct back to do the job. I also purchased training for new Ipad and got help with set-up and some training, but when I requested follow up on things that came up, I wasn't able to get follow up training. Of course these were things you don't think about when you first install a new product. I did get good training, just not good follow up. I feel I am one visit shy of having a good experience, but I have given up on getting that visit.

Did as expected

Anytime something significant changes, I prefer to go w/someone who does it all day, instead of someone who does it every 2 years (that's me!). Only issue he couldn't resolve is wireless printing, but pointed me in the right direction (older HP printer not compatible w/a laptop that was switched from Vista to 7); this is a software/hardware conflict that is unresolvable w/current equipment (need to upgrade/update printer).

He was great the equipment was not

The router he sold me that I needed to go wireless was defective. When I placed a service request for him to come back out he blamed the modem and the cable company. They blamed the router. Turns out they were right because I've been fine since we swtiched the router. The frustrating thing was that it took three weeks and some time off of work to get this straight.

Arrived on time

The agent arrived on time and even called 30 mins before to say when he would be at my home. When he arrived he checked everything over then he answered all of my questions, of which I had quite a few. He probably did things for me that were not part of what he was there for but he helped me anyhow. He was friendly, professional and extremely knowledgeable. I would recemmend this service to anyone and will always have it on all of my electronics. Thank you Best Buy and the Geek Squad for this great service.

Great guys hooked me up

It took a couple visits to get everything squared away. The system works well and the internet access to the feeds of my cameras is impressive. The technicians recommended an additional camera and the Best Buy computer support package and I agreed to both and have been pleased that I did so.

I am not a technical person and it is nice to know that I can hire people who will help me. Before the job was complete, I have to admit that I was frustrated and worried that I had just thrown away a lot of money on a new computer and the new router system. In the end, all is well.

He was more than patient when answering my questions and at no time did he make me feel inept. He had the unique capability to work and talk at the same time. Additionally, he was mindful of floors and furnishings, being careful of both. Well worth the money.

Geek Squad help
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Before my service person came to my house, he called to consult with me about my printer setup problems. Come to find out, I had set it up correctly and there was nothing he could do for me. The printer would not do what I wanted it to do. Anyway, we cancelled the service call and I got a complete refund for the call. I also was allowed to return the printer that I had had for 6 months for full refund and got the printer that I needed. What a win-win for me! Thanks Geeks!!!!

Not pleased at all
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The service was to be done for my 85 year old mother- install modem, router, anti-virus on a new Toshiba laptop we had bought her for her birthday. First, the Geek Squad called in the morning and wanted to change the appointment time which we had scheduled 2 weeks in advance. When she, (the Geek Squad person), showed up earlier, she was very rushed and noticably short with any explanation, just scribbled the passwords, email info on a piece of paper- barely legible. She didn't even take the plastic off the laptop. Secondly, she installed the modem and router on the kitchen counter where the phone jack was located and not the office/bedroom which the orders instructed! I didn't expect personalized computer instruction or a custom install, but this was pathetic to say the least. I wouldn't use this service again, and if you do, make certain there is someone else present to make certain these so-called experts provide the service that was paid for.

Network Restablished and Fine Tuned

After spending a week trying the DIY avenue, I called the Geek Squad one afternoon.and they were at my home the next day. Within an our my network was repaired and updated to todays specs. These guys know their stuff. I highly recommend their services to everyone!

They were very friendly, definitely knew what they were doing and were very patient with all my questions. Well work the money to have them come and set everything up.

Pleasant agent, but he failed to do the job
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Geek Squad simply didn't finish the job we paid it to do: set up a new computer for my 92-year-old mother in law. The agent was pleasant and correctly hooked up the necessary three wires to make the computer operate, but said transferring data from the old computer wasn't part of his job. This is just ridiculous: who on earth would pay someone $70 to set up a computer if this didn't include saving what's on the old computer? Is she supposed to simply throw away all her contacts, documents and photos? Since the basic wiring is simple enough for one of her children to perform, this service call was mostly a waste of money and time. Even more upsetting: when we complained, a very nice woman at Best Buy explained that in-home data transfer is a separate $200 service over and above "network set up". This was never explained either in the store or by the service agent. If it had been, we could have skipped the useless service call. By comparison, a recent purchase of an iMac at the Apple Store simply required us to leave the old computer overnight for data transfer. No charge. I suspect people in our family will think long and hard before using Geek Squad for anything else. A secondary issue: the agent was more than two hours late and did not call to warn of this delay.

Worth paying for but could have been a little bett

Exceeded my expectations

They solved my home wireless problem almost immediately and confirmed I didn't need new hardware which saved me $$$. Also downloaded updated printer driver on one PC and solved my printer problem. I'm a happy repeat GEEK Squad customer.
