A return to the old-school Mario
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For any of us who grew up on the classic Nintendo Entertainment System, this game will bring back some memories. Rather then attempting another 3D adventure-style game (Mario 64, Sunshine, and Galaxy) Nintendo has opted for the tried and true sidescroller. The game itself plays very much like Super Mario Brothers 3, a top-down map screen allows players to navigate the game's many worlds, while the stages themselves are 3D renditions of our favorite plumber (his brother, and two color coded mushroom people whose names are eaisly forgotten) running about a 2D platform. Some new powerups have been added (like the unimaginative but useful ice flower), and some new moves are available (such as spinning jumps, or other aeral manuevers), but at its core, its classic Mario 3. By far the most innovative feature, is the simotanious 4-player mode, which can be a blessing or a curse. As basic physics dictate, two objects cannot occupy the same space, and this will make the multiplayer hair-pullingly agnonizing, or comedically hilarous, depending on the mood of the players. The characters will bump into each other, accidentally knocking them off a platform, or grabbing a powerup intended for another person. The level also progresses at the pace of the fastest player, thus, skilled or impatent players can be the bane of the party. Taking a hint from Mario 2 (or Doki Doki Panic :P ) you can now grab and carry objects (or other players) through the level. It allows the players to work cooperatively or competatively as the whim strikes them. I rated the game as 3 stars for challenge because it is exceedingly generous with lives and continues. For casual gamers or people playing for the slapstic skullduggery, this isnt that big an issue, but if you play solo, are looking for a really challenging game, you will probably be dissapointed that you have 20 some-odd lives around world 3. For really hard-core platform gamers, your greatest challenge will be not getting killed by your buddies. On the whole, its a fun game. While it can be played entirely solo (it actually makes boss fights much easier), the real entertainment value skyrockets with a crowd. I popped it in during my New Years party, and it was a hit.

Best Mario Comeback!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the best mario comeback! I just bought the Wii for Christmas, and wanted a second game to go with it. It was a toss between Mario Cart and the New Super mario Bros. I'm very glad I went with the New Super Mario Bros! For someone like myself that grew up on the old NES, this game brings back the fun and excitement that I used to have playing Super mario Bros 1,2,and 3. The is not just a quick remake game, it brings back some of the old enemies, and introduces some new ones as well. Controls are also updated, using the motion of the Wii Remote makes Mario fly, pick things up, and smash bricks! I do wish the game had a few more levels. I can sit and play this for hours, and before you know it, you've beaten a whole world and all of its secret levels too. I also wish you had the option to play more charactors, you can play Mario, Luigi, or a Blue or Yellow Toadstool, which is ok, but the two toadstools become a little hard to track when playing with 4 people on screen all at once. All in all the game is addicting, even my son (11 y/o) loves the old school 2D graphics of the New Super Mario Bros! He will stop playing Call of Duty 2 to come play Mario Bros with us! Oh and the multiplayer coin battle gets all of us in the game all at once! Love it!

Awesome game.!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this game just 3 days ago and I'm already in world 8 and I have 99 lives oh and I have to say it's not really that hard some guy gave it a one he must be very bad because I hadn't played a mario game since mario sunshine for the gamecube and I guess, I still have it so I'm close to beating it and even if I beat it this is one of those game that it will be fun over and over and it won't ever get old, I liked this game a whole lot and I have to say the creators did a very good job I know how to get infinite lives it's so easy I haven't tried to take any short cuts and so far it's been an awesome game and the sound and graphics are great and my wii is hooked up to my new LED 65 inch samsung and I have it hooked up with the HD cables and I have to admit I love everything and it's an awesome game period and it's great for the family for older and younger people anyone will love this game and it has so many more additions than the past marios the creator added so much detail this game rocks period.

Mario's back in all his 2-D glory
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Mario's back in his first 2-D platforming game on home consoles since the SNES, and Nintendo delivered! As soon as you get out of Peach's castle (prologue) and enter level 1-1 you'll immediately realize that Nintendo wanted to go back to it's roots as the level select "worlds" are laid out very much like Super Mario Bros. 3 or Super Mario World. Nearly every level is very well designed and playing them is as fun as playing the older games over 20 years ago. The new items are fun to use, and add more depth to each level. And did I mention...Yoshi's back! You can also collect 3 star coins per level which can be used to for game play hints at Peach's castle. Collecting all the star coins for a "world" will also unlock hidden, more challenging levels later on. I haven't played co-op with anyone yet but from what I hear it's just as fun, if not more so than playing by yourself. The only thing I can think that gave me some problems when I first started playing the game is using the Wii-mote to pick up items as I'd much prefer to just use a button. I've slowly found it less and less annoying the more I play, so much so that I don't find it bad enough to count as a problem. Really, this game is amazing. If you even kind-of liked the Mario games on the NES and SNES, or New Super Mario Bros. for the DS, you'll more than likely LOVE this game. There's enough to keep you occupied for quite a while, and tons of replay-ability. It's easy enough for anyone to pick up and play, but has plenty to do for those who like a challenge.

Great 2 player game
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted a 2 player game that my husband and I could play together. It is a LOT of fun. You can play the game individually or with up to 4 players. I have tried it individually & although it is probably easier to get through most of it by yourself, some of worlds seem impossible without some help. I prefer the multi player game much more. It is true that you will accidently kill your partner more in the 2 player mode, but your back in the game in less than 10 seconds as long as you have enough lives. The game is generous in endless continues if you run out of guys. We completed the game up to World 8 in less than 2 weeks, and then found out there's a Secrete World 9 that you have to get all the Star Coins in every level to access, so we have started over with our goal of getting all the Star Coins & not having as many continues. If you search hard enuf, you will find many hidden structures where you can get extra guys in most levels. It may be a bit expensive, but I think its worth it. I haven't tried more than 2 players yet, but I think it would a blast in the competing mode.

A Favorite Classic
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love playing this game; Reminds me of playing the original game. The graphics are clear and my 7 month old son loves watching me play. Easy game play; not to mention you can memorize some if not all of the toad stages that get you extra items. Some stages make you think outside the box to beat them. Lots of FUN!

Mario always throws down!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bottom Line: Mario games are just great and this one doesn't disappoint at all! Graphics are good, multiplayer is a blast, levels are fun and entertaining, and the music is very nostalgic. Obviously if your a Mario fan this is a must have. The only thing I didn't like was that you can run into the other players. At one point my friend kept messing up and knocking me into the lava! I wanted to reach over and knock him with one to the chin but eventually we got used to it and accepted the fact that it is part of the game.

Great game for Mario and platforming fans
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review."New Super Mario Bros. Wii." is a great platforming game for the Wii with the same storyline as always. The graphics are very good like the DS ones and the tunes are chippy The game is very difficult for beginners, but much fun is to be had with more players helping one another out. If you have a Wii, this is a mus- get game.

Amazing game!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this game for christmas and I loved it! This game is exactly like the old super mario bros for the nintedo! The graphics are great and its great that you can have up to 4 players on the same screen at one time. The worlds and levels are easy for world one but i can't get passed world 2... The great thing is that you can play mini games for powers and when playing multiplayer if you die you can come back to life while the other person/people are/is playing. The one bad thing it the Super Guide i think that its basically cheating because the computer passes the level for you. If your not very good that may be helpful. I would 100% reccommend this to a friend and family memeber.

Great game but some flaws
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this game a few weeks ago and have really enjoyed it. There are many new twists on an old classic which I think have all been executed well. Things such as a new hat that lets you pretty much fly are great. The multiplayer is tons of fun especially with only two people. Having two players allows one player to die and come back into the game while the other continues. This makes the game so much more fun because you can clear levels faster and not get stuck on the same ones all the time. The only problems with the multiplayer are that it can sometimes get confusing and you can forget you are. Multiplayer also spoils single player for you because when you die you don't want to start the level over but you have to because there is nobody to save you. The game is a little overpriced for what you get in my opinion because it is a $50 game at best buy and hardly uses the motion sensing ability and although it has multiplayer it is not a very deep game and doesn't offer a whole lot other than the main levels (which are great). In all the game is great but if you don't play with other people much i would suggest looking into other similar games.

Best Mario Ever!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The New Super Mario Bros Wii is the greatest mario ever made! I mean the original was fun, Super mario 2 was a trip, Super mario 3 was my favorite, Mario for 64 was a blast, but this one takes all the previous mario favorites and combines them into one, action packed, block breaking, exciting game! Ive owned it for approximately 5 hours and Im moving along quickly and its hard to stop to write this review! I highly suggest it for any Mario fan and I guarantee you will love it!

Classic Wii Game
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. One of the best games released on the Wii. It's your typical side scrolling Mario with upgraded graphics and the ability to play at the same time with friends on screen. Great fun single or multiplayer.

What old-school Mario fans have been waiting for!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Finally, a side-scrolling Mario game that kicks back to the challenges of the old NES and SNES games. Anyone who's played the old classics will instantly feel a sense of nostalgia after simply starting up the game and viewing the title screen. Reuse of map designs, sections of music scores, and a well-executed face lift to the overall level concepts makes this a well-designed blast from the past. But even the newer generations can get involved with the simple controls and well-balanced playing pace.

Fun Game
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a really fun game. My 6, 8, and 11 year old nephews always play this when they come to my house. It's very similar to the original Mario Bros. but has some new things thrown in also.

Another Mario Classic!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's great game that the whole family can enjoy. What's cool is that you can start a game as single player and add additional players without having to restart it or you can go from a multiplayer game to a single if you want. You use the wiimote like the one from the original nintendo, with the two button action, plus some extra features you activate with the wiimote's motion. The game could be a bit longer, but there are a lot of hidden things that you can go back to after you passed it.

One of the best Wii games
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A great game and great use of the motion controls. It's a great update from the original super mario bros, same concept and type of worlds but new and different obstacles. Multiplayer is the highlight of this game, very exciting to have 4 people at once play but can be difficult at times since you can run into eachother, but it's part of the game. Would recommend this to anyone who owns a Wii and wants fun for anyone in the house. Easy to learn if you've never played the original.

Great game brought me back to my childhood
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love the game, me and the wife fight and yell at eachother nostop so its great. (we normally dont) its all in good fun. It takes us back to our childhood, loads of fun. I dont know if me as a child was just better at gaming or if the first NES game was easy but at times this game is hard But fun. Love the 4players at the same time, really love the ability to pick up another player and throw them into the hot lava when they dont listen. lol everything about this game is a winner.

real family fun
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I HAD to buy this game after playing it with some friends and having a blast. The game is addicting, and I found myself unable to turn it off until I beat "just one more level." Its entertaining both to play with others and to watch, as you can work together or sabotage each other throughout the game. My nephews love it, the kids I work with love it, and most of all, I love it! First Mario game I've ever actually played through til I beat it. Definitely worth the buy.
