Great dashcam for front and rear views. It's very easy to setup and start recording. This is great for insurance purposes when you need it. It continues to record and will save the video of any accident you may have. What is extremely nice is that the front view video and the rear video records in separate AVI files. I am blown away at the quality of this camera. If you are looking for a camera for your truck, car or SUV, this is great. The camera itself is small and looks good. Important for something that is going to stay in your front windshield. The material around the lens feels very cheap, but this is something that will be under no strain and very little if any attention, so that is fine. The rest of the camera feels well enough built. Set up and menus are fairly easy to figure out. Changing settings is easy and intuitive. It has an outstanding feature set for the price. Don't forget to turn the features you want on. Many of them are off by default. Set up is simple and straight forward. The wires are very thin and easy to tuck away under the weather stripping and trim. The power wire is long, but a few more feet would have made things much easier. The wire for the rear camera is very long. I had to tie off several feet on a rear window installation. It's a lot easier to tie off a few feet than to buy an extension. It's clear on the page but worth repeating. This camera DOES NOT COME WITH A MICRO SD CARD. This is not a criticism. It's just important to remember that you will need one for this to work. PROS: -Clear video and good frame rate with front camera. Acceptable field of view. -Good suction cup and decently strong mount. -Wires are of sufficient length (but only just). -Most of the wires I was able to push inside edges, cracks, and between siding. Almost no wires are visible. -Easy to access microSD port. -Reliably and automatically powers on/off with your car. Set it up and forget it, it will run as designed. CONS: -Rear camera is of clearly lower quality than the front. Worse field of view. -Some button functions are strangely programmed. It works, but requires some playing around with to figure out, and instruction manual does not give much help. -Front camera has a slight 'fishbowl' effect. Not too bad but it is noticeable in recorded footage. -Sound recording quality is not the best. A little quiet and muffled. Similar to the quality of a GoPro's sound recording. Not all conversations inside the car will be recorded. -Sticky mounts are useless. Suction mount is the way to go. OVERALL: -Acceptable, especially for the price. Will require some playing around with to install in your car. Make sure you have a microSD to SD card adapter to view footage on your laptop. Do have complaints with it, but for its price they are forgivable.

This was my first experience with a dash cam, let alone one with a rear camera as well. This model does not have bluetooth or wifi capabilities. Also this version is not a touchscreen mode. For the price I can do without. I am not missing anything really. The only things that I did not like about this cam is that there is no micro sd card included. I do have some micro sd cards but not class U3. So I had to go out and buy a compatible one. And the other negative for me thing, is that the rear camera which is held by a powerful magnet, can easily move around due to how the wire is oriented in the back. Having a hatch moves the wire around, especially if you go in and out of the trunk a lot like me and my family does. The set up was fairly easy once you get used to the button presses. The install with the included tool was heaven sent! I used this for the entire install and saved pinching my fingers while tucking the wires out of site in the front and to the back camera. The parking mode is also another feature that I can do without because it relies on the battery on the dash cam and keeps recording. From what I have heard, the parking recordings do not over write itself so that will take space on your SD card and have to manually delete the footage if you need to. I have yet to test it, but I have found the parking recording to be too sensitive and records almost constantly and depletes the onboard battery. I used this on my trip from San Antonio to Houston and then to New Orleans. A total of about 10 and some hours on the road. Reviewing the footage was a breeze on the unit and you could clearly hear the audio, if you choose to record with audio. Other than the listed little negatives for me that I have mentioned above, I would still recommend this because of the footage that it can record is super clear. I believe it's 1080P but can go 60fps but I think the back footage cannot work in that respect.

      Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to leave your comprehensive review, we really appreciate your feedback.
There is a method to ensure the Rear Window Camera doesn't move too much on the magnetic base. If there is too much slack in the Rear Camera cable, then the camera can move. If you tighten this cable to ensure there's not spare cabling dangling down, then the rear camera won't move on the mount.

Regarding the recording lengths, the camera will record continuously in small segments (1,2, or 3 minutes). It will record these segments consecutively until the SD card is full. Then the oldest piece of footage will be deleted and the newest will be saved in it's place. This will continue looping and is called Continuous Overwriting. The Dash Cam does this automatically to allow for more footage to be recorded and the old, unnecessary footage to be deleted without manual intervention. However like you said, Protected Files are not overwritten in the same way as normal files. If you do not format regularly, these files can build up and reduce the capacity of storage available for normal footage. It is essential to format every two weeks to delete any protected files and clear the card ready for continued usage. You don't need to delete every clip individually, but format the whole card. You can easily do this on the Dash Cam by:
      a) Turn on the Dash Cam
      b) Stop it recording
      c) Open Settings
      d) Go into Setup
      e) Click 'Format'
      f) Follow the instructions.

Please be aware that formatting the SD card will delete all the data on the card, so if you wish to keep any footage, please copy this across to a computer before you start the formatting process. We recommend formatting every two week to ensure all the footage stored on the card is new.

Overall, I thought this was a pretty good dash cam setup. For those in need of dash cams for your ride, this is a pretty good set to pick up. The video quality of this camera is quite good. I never understood the need/want for 4k resolution video from a dash cam so this 1080p is just fine for me. You will need to pay attention to the type of memory card you use in this. With other dash cams I've had, you could pretty much use whatever micro SD card you had and it would be fine. This one is somewhat finicky in that it NEEDS a card with U3 speed or higher. Apparently, all my cards were only U1 so I had to get a new card for this dash cam. Not a huge deal but something you will need to keep in mind when picking this up. Installation is pretty straightforward. Front cam is mounted with double sided tape as is the rear camera. Only "issue" during installation is trying to fish the rear camera cable throughout your interior. The camera does come with a small plastic, panel removal tool to help you out with this part. My only issue with this setup was with the rear camera. I have a F150 with sliding rear window and that's where I mounted the rear camera. Unlike the front camera which pivots on a plastic ball mount, the rear camera is held on to its mount via a magnet. As such, it tends to move around quite easily especially when opening/closing my rear window. For passenger cars, this won't be an issue however for truck users, this is somewhat of an irritation. I'll probably move the camera to the left/right side of my rear window to resolve this issue however, it just won't look as nice IMO. Also, there is no mobile app for this camera. Seeing as this camera has a parking cam feature, it would be nice to have a companion app where you could view the camera if motion or something was detected by them.

The nextbase 320xr with rear cam is really a good value. Its not 4k but it is 1080p and keep it at that resolution cuz if you lower it to fit more footage in the sd card, it wont look clear.in the box it brings enough wire to hide it beneath panels and a tool to help push the wire in . I installed it myself. I also used youtube to see how to remove some panels in the car. Overall it took 1 hour to get both cameras installed. The rear one has a magnet so adjusting it is simple. The one in the front uses a sticky mount so before peeling it off make sure you get the right view. You get the app on the phone which is nice but you can not update the camera the app . You remove the camera from the mount and unplug it then connece it to the computer. So if the camera and app is not working properly or connecting, then one of them is not up to date. i have issues now with the digital radio signal im guessing its the magnet from the rear camera interfering with the antenna in the back. Other than that this dash cam is a good buy

Setup was very simple, just mount the cameras where you want them and route the cables through the headliner. The front camera automatically recognizes when the back camera is plugged in a does not require any settings to change. Once you set the date and time you're ready to go. Picture quality is pretty good during the day, good enough to make out plates and tell vehicle make and model. At night the quality can degrade pretty quickly the darker it gets. On well lit streets it does fine to show what vehicles around you are doing but in neighborhoods it looks like a dark fuzzy mess. I have also noticed that headlights and license plate lights tend to wash out plate numbers at night. The parking mode works well and anytime the vehicle is bumped or a door is opened it will start recording and lock the footage. The audio recording is pretty clear and you can easily tell what is being said inside the vehicle over any road noise that is present. The audio is also saved to both the front and rear camera recordings. For general daytime and early evening driving this camera works well, if you drive a lot at night you may wish to look elsewhere.

The forward facing camera is a charm, The quality is simply outstanding like watching a Professional made movie. Until this day I still didn't get the rear camera to work consistently it simply doesn't syc With this system properly and its swivel mount owes ends up pointing the wrong direction I strongly recommend you get the wireless version this may make the rear camera work better. Oddly enough I did get into an accident however my pictures did not prove any value the front camera caught a very short scope of the accident that occurred so I recommend getting a wide angle webcam or accident information will be unreliable. The best that I had was at the collision point not the other car cutting across two lanes from my right side and bashing into me, So removing my black and white under the hood 180 degree camera that was in my RX7 would have been a better option than this 90 degree camera' The unit still works after a year which is nice but its functionality and its rear camera and wiring reduced my rating to three stars since I lost money due to lack of its scope and it's rear camera neither came in useful nor function for most of the time i've owned it. Support requests for the rear camera did not get any reasonable response just find it near community service which disappointed me. Removing the SD card to download pictures to my computer was a major nuisance, I permanently lost one card and had to swap two cards to maintain Consistency and picture taking. This product was ideal for linking with mobile phones or computers with a Bluetooth and that would have been an exceptional benefit. Again consider wireless connectivity and possibly phone interaction with the newer models, The wired version leaves a lot to be desired However quality wise the pictures are outstanding HD and real time.

Setup is straightforward. Picture quality is good. Got it for $60 - for dual cameras with 1080p, that's a steal. Some caveats: 1) The cable to the rear camera is really, REALLY long, to the point where I had to make 4 loops spanning the width of my car to hide it above the rear window. Far better would be a somewhat shorter cable with an optional extension for longer cars. 2) If you choose to use Parking Mode, then every time you open or close the door to get in/out, the cam produces a short video that is "Locked" (because it detects a disturbance). These aren't erased (regular driving videos are), so it's only a matter of a few weeks when I have to format the SD card again because it's full of Locked videos that prevent the dashcam from continued recording. A recommendation is to have the dashcam automatically erase such locked videos after, say, 7 days. 3) To effectively use Parking Mode, it's best to have the cam hard-wired with a voltage regulator cutoff installed. Nextbase charges extra for this - it costs about $30. I was able to get comparable parts from China for less than $10.

      Hello James,

Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback! We’re glad to hear that the setup was straightforward and that you're happy with the picture quality. We appreciate your observations on the long rear camera cable, and we’ll certainly take that into consideration for future designs.

Regarding Parking mode, we recommend using the dash cam with the official hardwiring kit and a voltage regulator to ensure proper functionality. We advise against using third-party wiring or parts, as they might not provide the necessary stability for Parking Mode and could potentially affect the camera’s performance

Thanks again for your thoughtful review—your feedback helps us improve our products and service! Let us know if you need any further assistance.

I decided to get a dash cam since I like my husbands in his car so much. I received this NextBase 320 XR with both a front and rear camera. It had the basics that I was looking for, such as video clarity in HD (1080p), and the ability to see the clips on your computer either with or without removing the Micro SD card, and you did not have to download another app on your cell phone. The box came with a quick start guide that was essentially useless with only pictures. To tell you the truth, I was a little bit intimidated about the install and how it would go. There was no way I was going to pay someone to install this for me, so I had to do it. Since the quick start guide was useless, I went to the NextBase website to download the manual which gave a lot more instruction on charging the unit before starting, how/where to install Micro-SD card, as well as formatting it. Yes, format the Micro-SD card in the cam and not in your computer for it to work. I also checked the firmware on the cam as the manual suggested and I did not have to update as I had the latest firmware. The manual gave you a good idea of where the wires should be installed in your car and how to run them. I did go to YouTube for some added instruction on how to hide the wires for my particular car. Thank goodness for instruction videos on YouTube! NextBase also has some YouTube videos you can access from their website as well. I watched everything I could for instruction, then took a deep breath and went at it…it took about 2-3 hours. Not bad for an older woman with a bum shoulder. The tool that was included to help with hiding the wires sure did help, but I still broke 3 fingernails in the process. When I installed the mount on the dash cam, I was really pleased to feel that the magnet was super strong and felt sure it would not fall down while driving. I got everything plugged in and started the car. Picture came up for the front camera and I had picture-in-picture for the rear cam, but no picture from the rear cam. Ok, time to troubleshoot and find out what went wrong. I sent an email to the company’s support people and a few hours later I got an automatic response to look at a few FAQ’s that were not helpful at all. Four days later, I still have not gotten a reply from the company’s support team, and I just gave up counting the days. Eventually, I figured out after reading the manual yet again, that the rear power cable to the rear camera had to be pushed together with quite a lot of force to hear a ‘click’. Success! I went on a few drives around the neighborhood to check out the recordings for camera placement, range, and clarity. Instead of removing the SD card, I took the camera to my PC for viewing. I connected the camera via the cord provided and chose to access the files. I first accessed the videos via file explorer and was able to see that the video format was the universal format of MP4. The files also had an _FR or _RE at the end of the file name to indicate whether it was a recording of the front or rear camera respectively. I appreciated that detail. I opened the files via the windows movie player which allowed me to see and hear each recording. Each 1-minute video had the NextBase logo in the upper left of the video, the Dashcam model in the lower left, and the date in the lower right along with the time into the trip. It did not show the time of day or the speed I was traveling though. I went into the settings for the can and think I have added the time of day, but will try it next trip. There is no option for driving speed. The drawback using the windows movie player was that I could not zoom in or manipulate the video in any way. When I tried to edit by using “trim” or “draw”, I got an error message. I then downloaded the MyNextBase Player from the website which provided better audio to each video, as well as having editing options such as zooming, joining videos, trimming, annotating, adding titles, etc. Not a bad little player. It also has a speedometer and compass for direction, both of which did not work with my videos since the 320XR did not come with GPS or Wi-Fi. While viewing the videos both in the windows movie player and MyNextBase Player, I tried to read a license plate of a truck that I passed (15-20 mph) parked on the side of the road. Even with zooming in using MyNextBase Player, the clarity of the video was not good enough to make out the numbers and letters. I did not think that was very good. When one has to rely on the recordings because of some incident, you would hope that you could read license plates in the videos, especially if they were not that far from the camera. I also noticed my neighbors walking their dog in the video. In real life, I could recognize who they were along with the color, shape and size of the dog, but in the video, again, the clarity was not there to make out these details. Not even the color of the dog. So, in summary, the unit is good for recording in macro mode and will capture an incident on the road, which is what you need it for, but don’t rely on it to record the license plates of each car in detail unless the car is stopped in front of the cam. Write down or use your cell phone camera to take pictures of car plates.

The Nextbase 320XR is a good dash cam and rear view cam. The box contains everything you need to get set up including; the camera and rear camera, USB to car charger power cable, the USB-C cable to connect the rear to the main camera, nice mounts for the cameras and a quick start guide. Installing the cameras requires a little bit of cable management under or around your car's interior, for me that meant unlatching a few plastic pieces and running the wires under the roof interior. The mount that attaches the dash cam is really nice, it has a magnetic pin connecter that allows the power cable to plug into the mount instead of the camera. This makes it easier to remove the camera from the mount in a snap without having to touch the cables. The camera automatically starts recording as soon as I turned on my car. The setting on the camera are easy to control and navigate through. The camera features a 1080p recording, it has a built-in microphone that can be turned off at the push of a button, and it has a nice clear 2.5" display. The display features a pip display for the rear camera, which can be repositioned around the screen. I like that this has what's called a protect button which locks the current files being recorded so they don't get recorded over. I also like how simple and fast this camera operates, once it's installed, it basically operates automatically. The camera has an micro sd card slot for recording video, once the video card fills up the camera starts recording over older footage that hasn't been locked. Depending on the size of the SD card, is how long you'll be able to record. For reference, a 64gb card will get you 8hrs of record time at 1080p. To view your recorded footage all you have to do is detach the camera from the magnetic mount, and plug it into your PC or Mac. The free software that you can download on the Nextbase website, lets you view, edit, copy, or erase your footage. The software is actually good, it works really, and its very easy to navigate through. Overall, I was impressed at how well the footage looks on the camera. It comes out crystal clear at 1080p. I also really like how easy the camera is to operate, once it's installed it becomes automatic and distraction free. This is a great device to have in case of a fender bender or even theft. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a new dash cam.

The Nextbase 320XR is a great set up for those looking to get a front and rear camera set up without breaking the bank. And while it does offer 1080p footage both off the front and rear camera there are some features that are lacking that have become industry standard now on newer dash cams. Out of the box you get everything needed to help get you set up. And while you do have to route the cables don't let this detour you from buying it as set up is very easy and you are given the tools necessary. You will need a high speed SD card to store and record footage. Picture quality is great however there are few things to be aware of. During day time there is no glare from the sunlight however brighter colors tend to come in with a bit of saturation which can take away a bit from the quality of the image. Night driving is pretty decent with video footage still coming in at 1080 however headlight glare is a big problem and can cause issues. Imagine being in a hit and run and you cant read the license plate due to tail light glare blurring the view. Just something to be aware. Let's talk about some of the features you can expect to receive from this unit. There is a auto sleep mode feature where when the unit detects the vehicle has been shut off it will power down the cameras and go in to a sleep mode. The unit does offer a acurate G-Sensor where when it detects an impact (rather the unit is on or off) it will spring to life and start recording and lock video footage. Now with that being said there is no GPS or SOS feature so if the vehicle detects a collision it will not notify emergency services. To be quite honest this was disappointing to not see this feature implemented on its newest flagship considering that most dash cams nowadays offer this feature as a standard set up. All in all that's really about it. The unit is pretty basic in way of its features however the camera angles and picture quality is pretty solid with some minor color saturation issues and light glare during night driving. At its price point this makes it a decent buy however if you are looking for some added features including safety features in particular you may want to pass on this unit however if you are looking for a dual camera set up which isn't going to cause you to go bankrupt then this is the route you may want to take it. For me its a solid set up but its lack of advance features and minor picture issues (which will be minor to most people) make it a average unit for me. However this is still a solid unit that offers a good image and is sure to please those looking for a basic set up.

For the last week I've been testing the Nextbase 320XR dual camera dashcam. This is my second time testing a Nextbase dashcam and overall, I think they are a great value. This model specifically doesn't have the fancy features you find on more expensive cameras. Such as WIFI, Bluetooth, GPS, touch screen, or a smart assistant, etc.. But I personally don't want any of that on my dash cam. The 1080P resolution, 140-degree field of view and simple user interface are all I need. Installation was simple. In my use I was installing it in a crossover SUV. It is attached to the windows with adhesive tape. It came with a cable tucking tool and sufficient cabling to run the charger from the cigarette lighter to the magnetic camera bracket. The same applied to the cable that connects the front camera to the rear camera. The recorded picture quality is good both in the day and at night. However, it didn't do a good job capturing license plates while driving. while stationary or in traffic it captures license plates with ease. The default setting for the cameras is 1080P/30 FPS. And while recording it uses about 150 MB per minute on the SD Card. So, I would recommend picking up a larger SD card. With that said, I think the Nextbase 320XR is a great dashcam. The ease of installation, great performance, simple user interface and basic features are all I need in a dashcam. So, I highly recommend it.

    Record For Everyone's Safety

Having a dashcam brings peace of mind when I drive. Not only does it bring a certain awareness to the way I drive but I also know that if there is an accident, I have the footage that shows what unfolded. I’ve had several dashcams since 2015. A couple worked out well while others failed. My previous front and read dash cameras recorded but some issues arose with the interface that brought me to the ‘I’ll just deal with it’ mindset. I needed new front and rear cameras. Which brought me to Nextbase 320 XR Dashcam. The Camera(s): The first thing that I noticed with the 320 XR is that both the front and rear cameras use a STRONG magnetic base that allows you to swivel those cameras into proper positions. This can come in handy in case you might want to shift the camera towards a point of interest in your driveway or a parking lot. As I said, these are incredibly strong magnets that don’t move upon going over bumps, etc. The interface of the Nextbase 320 XR is simple which is a good thing. My previous dashcam had voice-command features that seemed neat at first but got annoying as time went on because it would react to conversations or whatever was playing on the radio at the time. And then accessing the recorded footage was tedious because it was supposed to be ‘easy’. It wasn’t. However, with the Nextbase, I can just remove the Micro SD memory card, plug it into my laptop and review the footage. Speaking of video footage, the clarity is presented in 1080p for both the front and rear cameras. Whatever you record, it will be easily identifiable upon playback. The night vision for the front camera is sharp as well. I do suggest that you adjust the Exposure settings since headlights of other vehicles create a bloom that prevents you from reading license plates. Sadly, the rear camera’s night vision isn’t as impressive. It’s grainy and doesn’t identify the people that are in the camera’s view. Setup: As expected, the setup of the cameras is relatively easy. The bases have a 3M adhesive that you place on the glass and they are good to go. And let’s say that you inadvertently place the base crooked, because of the magnetic swivel, you can adjust the camera position accordingly. More dashcams should allow this. The most time-consuming part of the setup was running the rear camera wire through the back of my car. The kit does come with the tool that allows you to tuck the wire into the interior edges of the vehicle so that the wire isn’t in anyone’s way. Once the cameras are in place, you simply plug the power adapter into your outlet. You also can opt to have the camera hardwired into your vehicle’s system for constant power/recording if you should desire. Records While Parked: Another fine feature is that the 320 XR will record while your vehicle is parked for a limited time. There’s an internal battery to the camera that runs for several minutes after you have turned off the car. I haven’t seen this feature in a very long time so I was eager to welcome it back. Benefits of Dashcams: The world isn’t perfect. Accidents happen whether it’s due to someone rushing a red light, texting while driving or road rage, there’s something to be said knowing that you have the footage that can prove you were in the right. And it’s not just about your safety, the cameras benefit other people. In the past, my dashcam recorded accidents that proved that one of the parties involved was lying. There have been other times where a hostile situation will dissolve because the aggressor becomes aware that they are being recorded. I can imagine that parents might want to review how their new teen driver is doing on the roads. Not too long ago, I rolled up upon a truck that was involved in trying to break into a business. Because of the dashcam, the faces and license plates of the people involved were provided to the police. I also am more aware of how I drive because of my dashcam because if I am driving aggressively, and cause an accident, then I know there’s evidence of my foolishness. The Nextbase 320 XR is a streamlined experience of a dashcam. Out of the box, it seems to be a very solid and reliable camera.

The Nextbase 320XR dash cam is a solid model that helps me feel a bit safer in an area with lots of traffic accidents. While some of the higher end models have features including GPS and Alexa voice control, the 320XR is a basic and barebones model. I appreciate it for that. There are some simple settings menus, a big red button to lock the current file if something happens, and no configuration that needs to be done beyond aiming the camera right. The hardest part was using the viewer to play back and edit my files, and that was only difficult because I forgot where my laptop charger was. The camera starts recording as soon as it gets power, has a battery to keep recording if power is lost for some reason, and the rear camera included is a very nice extra. Even installing the thing was easy, as Nextbase includes a tool to slip the wires under upholstery in your car and the included power cable plugs into the cigarette lighter. If you'd rather a direct connection, you can get a wire to connect the camera directly to the fuse box on their website. All of the wires in question are long enough to go anywhere in your car, even if you drive an unnecessarily long SUV like I do. The best part about it is that it's so easy to use. If you get in a wreck, the last thing you're going to need is to have to remember how to use some complex software to make sure your recordings are safe. The 320XR is perfect in its' simplicity. I'd definitely recommend this model of dash cam.

This is about the Nextbase 320XR Dash Camera with Rear Window Camera. The box comes with everything you need to set it up yourself but you will need to purchase a good quality micro sd card to update and view what was captured. They recommend the Nextbase U3 type card. The instructions in the quick start guide that comes with it are clear pictures with instructions in different languages underneath the pictures. English is the first language shown so we can get to it quicker. Detailed instructions are on their website which they share in the guide. I was nervous about whether I could install this myself but it was pretty simple to follow the instructions and the clear diagrams. The tools I needed were included and I was able to get it together and get it working in under an hour. The dash cam is smaller than I imagined, which is a nice surprise. I was able to put it closer to my rearview mirror so it doesn’t take up much space or obstruct my view while driving. Both front and rear cameras are easy to secure and back secures magnetically. This is convenient but also makes it easier to accidentally move. It took a few minutes to arrange my rear camera for correct viewing. The video quality is pretty good, it’s not the best but it works. We could see everything around the car from both cameras but at times the front camera doesn’t show as sharp as I would like, I imagine it’s because of the camera specs. But I can still make out everything. What I really love about this is the intelligent parking mode. I was told I could only get that if I buy a camera that needs to be hardwired to my car. So it was very nice that this camera includes it. It’s great to have this because even with the car off, if the vehicle is hit, the cameras turns on automatically and records. I purposeful bumped into my car and it absolutely did turn on and recorded. So all in all, its a great dash cam, it’s affordable and works well The only drawback I have is that is that you cannot use wifi or bluetooth so you cannot see your images in the cloud or in app on your smartphone. You have to remove the card and you can watch, save and share your videos and then put the card back in place to use for recording again. Or you can bring the camera inside and connect it to laptop with usb. I didn’t realize that and just assumed I could access it on my phone. Otherwise, it is good value and does a good job overall.

My car predates mandatory rear cameras, so I was intrigued by this dash camera with integrated rear window cam. This kit came with a front and rear camera, enough wires to connect the two, an extra adhesive sticker in case I ever get that new car I've been eyeing, and a spudger tool to help tuck the wires between the frame and the trim. The unit was smaller than I was expecting, which is good because you don't want it obscuring the driver's view. The instructions were for a right-hand drive vehicle, but it was easy enough to figure out a good spot. Since my windshield has an extreme angle, the only convenient place to mount the camera was up at the top, by the rear view mirror. I haven't really taken the time to tuck the wires in, but I'm hoping that things look better than they do now, with wires hanging every which way. I do like that the camera easily comes away from the mount, so that it's not on display for any passing unlawful opportunist while parked. It's attached to the mount via a very strong magnet, so there's no worry of it falling off mid-drive. The rear camera connector has some grooves in it that I didn't spot at first installation, so it wasn't properly connected, which meant that I didn't get any rear footage at all in my first couple drives. After some troubleshooting, I noticed the notches, and once lined up (and with some extra force around all the connection spots), the second camera appeared on the display. By default, the camera takes a series of 1 minute videos. They are easily viewable files requiring no special software, though the manufacturer offers some sort of viewing programs to download. There are settings to adjust the length of the video. The audio recording isn't really great, conversations didn't really come out clearly if at all, which is fine by me. If I wanted to record myself singing in the car, I'd have quite a few dislikes on my Youtube channel. Since the only rear camera I've really used is when I borrowed my father's luxury SUV with parking assistance, I wasn't sure if the extreme fishbowl effect on the one on the Nextbase was by design or not, but it was no help in parallel parking (nor was the fact that the display itself was nearly out of sight behind the rear view mirror), but I've squeezed into the tiniest spots on my crowded city's streets without assistance for the last 25 years, no reason to let that be a crutch now. All in all, I'd say that the peace of mind that a dashcam offers is worth the hassle of installing one. There's some maintenance stuff that needs to be manually done, like purging the microsd card every couple weeks (fortnightly, according to the fancy instructions). I don't like that it takes up the only socket I have in my car without offering a splitter or at least USB charging ports, which means if I want to use my phone to navigate (again, base model 15 year old car owner here, no built in nav or even an aux port for the audio, only CD's) I'll have to invest in some sort of solution for that. The video quality is good, though, and captures a wide angle, which is great for its intended use.

The Nextbase setup took me about 30 minutes to get up and running. The longest part of the install was tucking the cable to the rear camera into my trim on the car. The software is very intuitive and easy to use, you can basically set this up and forget about it! That makes it easy to always have video in the event of a crash or other unplanned event. The video quality is great, but it would be nice to have 4K video. However that would throw you up into a higher price point! Overall this is a very affordable option for front and rear video coverage, and can help you drive easy knowing you have evidence of anything that may happen.

    Suction cup

I’d give it five stars but this is my second dash cam from NextBase and they’re awesome. They work well but the suction cup is garbage. I had the same problem with the other nextbase dash cams. The suction cups will give out while driving. I need the suction cup because I move from car to car when driving. It only comes with one stick on attachment for the dash cam but when I removed it to put on another car it wouldn’t stick anymore. Other than that they work great and great quality videos.

The Nextbase 320XR Dash Camera with Rear Window Camera is a plus to have in any vehicle. This dual front and rear camera has a very sleek design. The 320XR incorporates a 2.5-inch screen that can be easily mounted at the front wind shield with the magnetic sticker attached to it. The camera has a 140-degree wide-angle lens that records in 1080p HD. It has a G-sensor that detects collision and saves the recording. A cool feature is the intelligent parking mode that allows the battery to hibernate when the vehicle is parked. The system automatically restarts recording with any nudging of the vehicle. Setting up the Nextbase 320XR is easy. The battery life is great and really depends on how much the camera is recording. The device has a 32gb micro sd card for storage, which allows one to not only store but to retrieve the recordings as needed. The Nextbase 320XR Dash Camera with Rear Window Camera does a really good job of recording the vehicle's environment. It works as advertised. Mine has not had any problems so far.

    Step Backward for Nextbase

I already have a Nextbase 522GW, and it's a wonderful camera. This 320XR *could* have been just as wonderful since both cameras in this set record great HD video and audio. But the 320 *does not* connect to the mobile app like the other camera, and that is a major disappointment. Every time you want to see a video full-size on another device you must either remove the card or connect the camera via USB cable to the PC. That is not covenient. The mounts for both cameras have 3M sticky pads for attaching to glass and the camera connects to those mounts magnetically. The main camera's mount clicks in and out to it's mount, but sooner or later that sticky pad will give way. The main camera can connect to the same suction-mount that came with the 522. Another disappointment as it was not supplied with the 320. The camera software recommends/quires a "U3" V10 SD card (not included.) It features the usual parking mode which triggers a recording if it senses the car being bumped or tampered with. The video is good quality but the package itself is lacking the features something of this price should have.

      Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. Please be aware that the adhesive pads which come with the Dashcam are a one time use pad. We recommend cleaning the windscreen with an alcohol wipe to ensure it is clean and free of debris prior to adhesion. Then take the adhesive pad and plastic bracket and firmly press it against the windscreen for 30 seconds. To allow for the best adhesion, we recommend leaving the pad to stick to the windscreen for four hours before adding the Dashcam. If the adhesive pad is the removed from the windscreen, it will not adhere as strongly again and so we recommend using the replacement adhesive pad from inside the box.
