    Suction cup

I’d give it five stars but this is my second dash cam from NextBase and they’re awesome. They work well but the suction cup is garbage. I had the same problem with the other nextbase dash cams. The suction cups will give out while driving. I need the suction cup because I move from car to car when driving. It only comes with one stick on attachment for the dash cam but when I removed it to put on another car it wouldn’t stick anymore. Other than that they work great and great quality videos.

Much like you, it is the other drivers on the road that seem to be driving crazy. I picked up this particular dash cam not for myself but for my wife's car as mine already has a dash cam. Let me tell you, this camera system is small but mighty. There is little instructions in the box and those that are, have a strong suggestion that the primary market was the UK. That said, the camera and installation are pretty intuitive. There is instructions online if you need help. The camera is small enough to easily tuck up behind the review mirror but also easy to access the memory card. The power cable, was long enough to easily route around the windshield and under the glove box to the port. The included tool made it a breeze as well such that I let my wife do it as it is her vehicle primarily and she should have it the way she likes it. (I honestly plan to hard wire it at a later date) The rear camera was a little more work as the cable had to be routed from the back of the SUV to the front; be sure to make sure to leave some slack for opening of any tailgates. The camera itself is nice, the small LCD screen provides enough resolution to see most things on it so reviewing video will be easy. What I really like is that it is left plugged in all the time as it is always "on". It is designed to sense if someone hits your parked car and start recording (~30 seconds of video); keep in mind that there is a few seconds for the camera to awake so its still possible to miss any culprits. The memory card is a standard micro type and the camera can be used to format it. As others have suggested, there is no dedicated video software included but almost any video software already on your computer will allow you to review the video. I hope the camera never has to be used for its intended purpose of capturing accidents but if it does, I think this will have a clear video to provide to law enforcement and the insurance company.

    Good dash cam

The Nexbase 320XR is a good dashcam option with some caveats. First, it's easy to install with only basic skills and some patience needed. For those with wiring expertise, an available hardwire kit is an option to keep your accessory plug free. 1080P at 30fps front and rear. No it's not a 4k cam, but it's just fine for the average everyday personal user. No issues with getting an image for the front or back. Audio is clear without distortion or picking up much external noise. Supports up to a 256gb SD card. I used a 64gb and it seemed to hold plenty of video for me. Be sure to use a good quality SD card. Daytime picture quality is good, sometimes slightly fuzzy, but still good enough to see detail. The built in screen is easy to see and read, but is not touch screen. Excellent build quality, appears it will last a long time. Good camera for the daily commuter who want protection in case of an accident- Also has a built in battery that will record a couple of minutes after an accident is detected in case the power to the unit is cut. Also good for recording your journeys along with any road issues. The cons- If you are a rideshare driver or pro driver that hauls people/packages this is not the best cam for you as there is no interior camera for the cabin of your vehicle, unless you intend to turn the rear cam around to view inside (not recommended) Night images can be harder to see and are less clear, but still decent. In really bright or oncoming sunlight, the image will sometimes wash out. It's a basic dash cam unit. No fancy built in wifi or bluetooth for connecting to a phone or live streaming your drive. I would recommend it to friends.

Peace of mind for good drivers. Front and rear cameras are awesome. Now i feel safer while driving or havkng my vehicle parked when i have tool boxes in my pickup truck. Easy to setup and the included sd card was a bonus. Moth can be recorded at the same time. But doing so can eat up ok storage pretty fast. The package was much nicer than others i have used before and very impressed with this. Camera quality is really good and clear during the day. Night use is less than ideal with led lights or low candle power lights for the rear camera. Audio quality was good and clear. It comes with many mounting options. But if you are like me and have a pickup truck had to get a bit creative. I dont use alexa so i never realized this can be used with amazon. Overall good camera. Also buy the hardwire kit it helps with recording when the vehicle is off.

All dash cams that you hard-wire are a little bit of a pain to install and this one was no different if you choose to hard-wire it. Luckily, this kit includes the cigarette lighter plug so running power can be very easy. The hardest part is running the included cable to the rear channel camera. I appreciate the move to USB C so much and rear camera's adhesive holds firmly. Just make sure it is where you want it because it's difficult to relocate. The video quality is great. I feel that I could use this to identify license plates and faces in the right light. Daylight is obviously going to be the best light to use and while the night vision is very good, it still isn't clear enough to discern license plates however people show up just fine. In order to achieve 1080p footage you're going to need a fast microSD (Nextbase recommends: 64GB Nextbase MicroSD XC v30 U3). The build quality is great and I love the super-clear IPS TFT screen. This kit can even assist you in parking proximity warnings which is pretty useful. All admin and setup is covered with the app available where you get your phone apps. The full updated owners manual is available via QR code though it wasnt needed for my installation as the include Quick Start guide worked fine. I would like to see a wireless rear camera in the future as I feel the technology is there. While cabled connection rules out interference, a wireless connection would be very welcome for ease of installation. The

I was impressed with how easy the camera's were to set up. The Quick Start Guide was well written, with step-by-step diagrams and short instructions. I did have to download the manual in order to see how to play back videos. The mounting unit on the front camera has a convenient magnetic connector, so you can quickly disconnect the camera for closer viewing. The picture quality is excellent. The screen display is of course small so that it does not interfere with driving. It would be great to have a mobile app to view recordings on your phone (I believe that might be available on other models). The navigation buttons on the camera are self explanatory and easy to operate. Overall, I'm very impressed with this dash cam and hope I'll never need to record an accident, but it's nice to have if I do.

Easy to install and easy to use! Sometimes back camera is glitchy (looks like a purple filter is over the image) but it corrects each time. Makes me feel more comfortable that I can hold bad drivers accountable in case of an accident.

The Nextbase 522GW is one heck of a camera, period. I already own the 522 without the rear camera so I had to have it with the rear for my truck. When I recieved the package, everything was well protected for bad shipping services to not destroy, this is a must nowadays as major shippers damage boxes and contents daily. Opening up the package, there lies everything you need to install both caneras with ease including a long cable for the rear. During install, make sure to scope out the way and where you want to mount the rear camera as you want to make sure you can easily hide the excess cable either under the headliner or the carpet. Utilizing the PIP I can now see the cargo and my englosed trailer while I am towing. This is also a positive when changing lanes as it shows the blind spots. This is an amazing feature with the added rear camera, to see both cameras at all time is my favorite feature. I know some of you are wondering so here it is, yes, it records the front and rear cameras at the samw time to separate folders yet shows them on thw screen simultaneously. To have separated folders is an A+ in my book, makes for auch easier file finding and exporting to my phone. Picture quality for 1080P is just fine, day and night. Yes, the 4K version makes zooming in easier but it is truly not needed as you will almost never actually need to zoom in that far. The clearity is top notch for the price and bothing is missed. I have been using this camera as stated above and actually make TikTok videos using it without issue and get plenty of compliments about the quality as good, never bad. Mouting the rear camers is a sticky pad, it will not come off easily once stuck, just make sure to do it with a super clean window and the sun on it so it sticks good. If you have tinted windows, be careful, this could damage your tint if removed so be careful or have fishing line close by to remove it. I used the Nextbase branded 64GB card and after the first few days of using it, the card is barely used. Now, it auto writes over the oldest file once full, so I could see a month or more of normal commuting before it starts overwriting. And last, the Nextbase app works flawlessly on all my Android devices. It has never bot connected with ease for fast saving the videos to my phone for usage on TikTok. I can easily take them and edit the videos in any software on my phone. So, here is a little list of Pro and Joes PROS Small in size Easy to mount Long cables Camera Quality NIghttime Video Sound Easy menu Phone connectivity via Nextbase app that works flawlessly Picture in Picture Separate Folders for both cameras CONS Sticky Pad for rear mounting could damage tint upon removal Install could get difficult on some cars for wire routing I am a huge fan of Nextbase and after you biy this setup, you will be too.

Great camera - requires patience and knowledge

If you have absolutely zero knowledge of how the interior of your vehicle comes apart, specifically the trim, then this might not be the project you want to attempt on your own. But, if you are familiar with these types of things, or are at least willing to be patient and dedicate a good window of time to this, and leave room for frustration and time to look up youtube videos, then go for it. The camera kit comes with everything you need and even includes a trim tool which you will use to pry off your trim to run the wires. Otherwise you are going to want to just have a local auto installer install this camera for you. The camera overall is great. Nowadays with how people are driving and the crazy things going on, you want to have a dash camera. It will protect you in the case of a lawsuit or even if you get stopped by law enforcement and need video proof for court. You just can't go wrong with a dashcam. Anyways installation is going to be the hardest part for you. This took me the longest. You are going to mount the base to your windshield, and run the power cord to wherever you have a 12v DC port. Or if you have an old vehicle with a cigarette lighter port, that's what you are looking for. This is where the trim tool comes in handy as you will need to pry off the plastic panel pieces in order to tuck the power cord behind that. You may also need to pry off some dash pieces as well if you are running the cord that way. Each vehicle is different. Once you have the power cord run and plugged in, you can go ahead and attach the camera to the base you installed to the windshield using the 3m tape on the base. Once this is complete, the back camera installation is basically the same. Attach the mount, attach the camera, and run the power cord, EXCEPT the power cord from the rear camera plugs directly into the side of the front camera. You are going to want to run all the cords and make sure the rear camera is attached to the front camera BEFORE you plug the main power cord of the front camera into the 12V DC power port. Setup after this is easy. Make sure you have a micro SD card. One is not provided. This is what you will need to record and store your video. You will format this later on. Initial setup first time turning it on will consist of language, time and date. Once you get that going, you can go in and customize what you want (quality of video, time and date, length of recording, etc.). Overall this is a great little setup. Video quality at 1080p is great. I like that it turns on when you start your car and starts recording, and turns off when I turn the car off. Depending on the size of your SD card, the storage can fill up fast. You will need to re format the card every so often to delete the old clips. I did not find a way to auto-delete in the settings after a certain amount of days. Maybe I missed this option. I would recommend this item.

    Nice camera, easy set-up

Overall, this is a nice set of cameras for your car. The set-up is simple enough. All you need to do is put in a micro-SD card, the camera will prompt you to format it, connect the rear-view camera, and you're ready to go. The video that is captured is nice. The only thing that is a bit difficult is routing all of the wires for the cameras. They give you a lot of wire to work with, so that's nice, but there may still be some that you have to keep wound up and hidden somewhere. They provide a tool for shoving the wire under plastic panels and such, but there is only so much that you can do. One odd aspect is that there are both a mini-USB (you're reading that correctly... mini-USB, not micro, but mini, a standard that was dropped by basically all electronics producers more than a decade ago) and USB-C connections. The back-up camera is supposed to be connected to the USB-C port, and power to the mini-USB. However, it will take power through the USB-C... I'm not sure why this is, but I suppose it's nice to differentiate the ports in some fashion.

Is the Nextbase 320XR the new mid range King?

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The Nextbase 320XR Dash Camera with Rear Window Camera is a great mid range camera, but I have to ask, is this the new mid range in car camera king? I have to say off the bat, yes, it is. I already own one of these for my truck. My wife's car had the old Nextbase 122 in it and finally after years of the sun beating down on it, the camera would no longer read the SD card. It was time to replace it and we wanted the same brand and same unit as my truck. The 320XR is filled with features, we can all see them above in the specs and description, no reason to say it all again. So for a real review, how does it work? It works amazing and not even a little less than amazing. For the price point, this is a mid range setup including a rear camera, not many other do that are actually placed at the rear of the car at this price point. The picture quality is amazing out of both cameras, a solid easy to read and see picture, even when blown up on a 50" TV. The picture quality at night depends on street lighting and glare, but I can tell you the camera does a great job with glare, it still gets plenty of the needed video. The sound it captures is great as well, picking up everything in the car and if the windows are open, most everything outside of the car as well. The mounting is super easy via 3M sticky pads, even an extra set was in the box, cannot be mad about that especially if you forget to clean the surface first, now you are not trying to use something else or calling Nextbase to order more. The rear camera wire is easy to run along the headliner or along the floor under trim panels. DO NOT leave wires hanging, tuck them away correctly. The unit is powered by a cigarette light port, I actually bought a hardwire kit and put it to a fuse that is turned on by the ignition, no cables hanging or going over the radio. The hardwire kits are available online, I did not see them on Best Buy but maybe I missed it. The constant recording is a great feature to have, it is a rolling record, every one minute it starts a new video. This makes it so much easier finding a specific section or video. Also, all videos are date and time stamped, just make sure to set the proper date and time when setting up, this could mean the difference of a ticket or no ticket. If you are looking for a great mid range front and rear camera, do not look anywhere else, you will pay more for the same features and still might not have the separate rear camera.

Great Dash Camera with Rear Camera

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Initial Impression: The Nextbase 320XR Dash Camera seems to be a well-made Dashcam with a rear-facing camera. The body is rigid plastic, and the magnetic mount is extremely strong. It is well packaged and comes with both cameras, both mounts, all connecting cables, a quick start guide, and a tool to assist in running the cables for both cameras out of site. Unlike other Nextbase cameras, this set is not compatible with their mobile app. Setup: The setup for this camera is remarkably simple. You set the language, time, date, resolution, audio recording on/off, and the length of each video. Afterwards the camera prompts you to format the video card and you are done. Performance: This is not my first Nextbase Dash Cam. I thoroughly enjoy my Nextbase camera, it is the best one I have ever had. But here in Florida we have 2 major accident problems, and my current camera does not address one of them. In Florida, people love to tailgate and often cause rear end collisions because of it. But the bigger problem is hit and run accidents. Every week we hear of hit and run accidents, many fatal, and the person fled the scene. Because of this, I have been wanting the 320XR, so when I got the chance to review one, I jumped at it. This system is a good system. The video is clear in both extreme sunlight and low-light conditions. And I was especially surprised at the quality of the rear camera. I do not know why, but I expected it to be less than the main. I like being able to see both cameras at once, but I find it a bit distracting, so I mostly use the front camera. The only downside I can think of is that this system is not compatible with their mobile app, so to see videos, you will need to remove the card and download or play videos via USB through their video player. The video player is also a video editor, providing you with the basic tools to join videos, trim videos, and highlight certain areas of videos. This can help if you end up going to traffic court and is a lot easier than using a professional video editor. Conclusion: I like this system a lot. I like being able to have the rear camera, so if I am rear-ended, I have it on video. The video quality of both cameras is exceptionally good, the audio quality is also incredibly good, although I have mine muted. The connecting cable is of high quality, and keyed so you do not install it backwards. I will be purchasing the optional permanent installation kit and installing this in my car permanently. If you need a dash camera and want to have both the front and rear of your car protected, I highly recommend the Nextbase 320XR dash camera with rear facing camera.

This is my second go 'round with Nextbase. The previous model I used was just a front camera. Having the rear makes all the difference. All angles are covered. For installation, I went through Geek Squad, but should you feel up to it, the directions for installing appear fairly easy, just takes a bit of time. Once running, everything has been smooth and runs as expected. The picture is clear and sharp from both cameras and the link between them is implemented well on the main camera. I do use the app, and the connection here is similar to my last model. The connection between the two is fairly reliable, but if you want consistent connection, you'll have to verify the connection is active from time to time. Although I have no issue with the camera starting and stopping as it should, the app may not reconnect on any given entry/exit of the vehicle. Doesn't happen often, but it does happen. The app itself is easy to navigate, and transferring specific files works fairly well. But other than that, the app still seems secondary as I usually connect the camera to my PC should I want a file. To clarify, you do not need to use the app to use the camera. A nice update in relation to my older unit is the magnetic base. Removing and replacing the camera in my vehicle was typically made cumbersome by the need to unplug/plug in the awkwardly angled power cable. Thankfully, there is a wireless charge through the base, so I can grab and go and toss back in seamlessly. Small feature, but glad they implemented it. I have no issues so far. Everything is working as advertised and I'm happy with the quality, angle and clarity of both feeds. If you need a good camera for these crazy roads, you can't go wrong here.

Wrong manual, needs new set up every drive

Excited to have a dash cam since I've been hit and injured and have two Volvos totaled by inattentive and drunk/high drivers, I wanted something easy to use, powers up when I start my car, powers down when I turn it off, and is easy to save video or take a quick pic. This is a small unit with a good image quality on the front facing camera (I didn't install the rear camera because of the configuration of my rear windshield), but it is far from easy to use. The box does not include a manual, but the QR code provided is supposed to link to an online manual for this particular camera. Unfortunately it does not link to a manual for the correct model. The instructions are useless since this 320XR is NOT a touchscreen camera and does not connect to an app...and all the instructions guide the user through setting up a touch screen camera with a related app. So that was a dead end. I searched the web for, and eventually found, an install and operation manual which was okay, but tiny print and not really intuitive. I got the camera set up eventually, and the cabling all hidden. However, the angle of my windshield and the lack of adjustability of the mount means I can barely see the road ahead of me with the camera, no matter how much I try and reposition or adjust. Also, every time I start my car, I have to set up the camera again!!! I have to set time, date etc before the camera will operate. So this is useless unless I've got time to go through setup every time I start my car. This is going back today and I'll get the Garmin I bought my son for his car...he loves it and it does everything I need I to do, including Bluetooth link to my phone.

      Hello,
      Thank you for your review.
I am sorry you’ve had this experience. We can provide the correct manual for the Dash Cam, along with instructions on installation and setup. The box includes a quick-start guide to help with the first steps. The time and date should only be set up once, having to do this every time is not normal, and we would need to troubleshoot to find a solution for you.

The Nextbase 320XR Dash Camera is an entry tier product in the Nextbase line up. On paper, it looks like you get a lot of important features for very little money 1080P, 140 degree field of vision, front and rear cams etc. However, there are shortcomings in performance that are not for everyone. In review : Installation – The mounting system is semi-permanent with an adhesive mount that magnetically locks the cams. Very solid and secure – far more preferable than the suction mount systems. It took less than 15 minutes to install the system. Features – I am not going to go into the nitty gritty details of features, you can see that in specs . In summary, the Nextbase 320XR is very barebones. No Wi-Fi, no Bluetooth, no GPS, no voice control. For the price point, it is no the end of the world but I did miss Wi-Fi of some of the other units I have tried. Performance – In a word – disappointing. During a bright day the video capture appears decent at first. Colors do pop and appear rich. However, you start to notice that the fine details are not there. Street signs are tough to see and license plates at 4 car lengths are hard to see at all. When the light drops a bit, licenses become very difficult to see. At nighttime, forget about seeing writing on anything. Screen – The screen is a both a pro and con depending on your preference. The screen is of the non-touch variety. While that is a bummer for a lot of people, I did not find myself missing it . I have reviewed several dash cams with screens about the size of the Nextbase 320XR and found those units with a touch screen to be difficult to use. There is something to be aid for tactile buttons for a screen that is half the size of your phone. In terms of screen performance, it is middle of the road – not terribly bright and colors are a bit washed out. Build quality – As with all Nextbase, the fit and finish of the 320XR is excellent. Far better than I would expect in this price range. It reminds me a mid tier camera. Even thought I would rate this this product at 3 starts, I just cannot recommend it. The detail performance is just too poor – anything with letters is barely readable. Low light performance in general is subpar. I could not find what image sensor the 320XR uses but I would guess it uses that same old Sony that is 5 years old or more than far too many dash cam companies use on their lower tier products. Not all is lost on the 320XR, if you catch on sale at Bestbuy and are on a budget, it may be for you.

This dash cam with rear camera is really a great value. It was easy to set up. You get a great crisp clear picture out of both cameras. Even better than my back up camera on my Jeep! Only thing I wish was different was that there is no app for my iPhone. I would rather view recordings directly on my phone rather than removing the card and putting it into a computer. But hopefully I’ll never need the footage anyway!

I have to start off with the cost-benefit of this kit. You get a fully-contained system with two cameras and all the cables and hardware you need to install them. This is a really good deal, and if you don't have a dash cam yet, you should seriously look at this system. Setup is really simple. Charge up the camera first (you should do this with any new thing you get with a battery), then follow the instructions on the screen. It just wants you to choose your language and set the time, then it's ready to go. A huge bonus is that you don't need to create a user/login for it! Seriously, this is the only tech I got in the past 5 years or so that didn't need a login. The drawback is that it doesn't work with the mobile app, so consider that when shopping for dash cams. Physical installation was pretty straight-forward, no surprises. I have a minivan and there's plenty of cable to get to the rear camera. They even provide a handy plastic pry tool so you can get behind the trim and stuff your wires in the headliner and window pillars. Otherwise, it works just as expected. It keeps chunks of live video that it overwrites when your memory is full. It automatically locks video when it feels an impact. You can manually lock video by clicking the red button. I highly recommend this one, and I'm not really sure why I would need anything more expensive.

It feels like getting a dashcam is almost required nowadays so I was very happy when I picked up the Nextbase 320XR. Setup was easy and painless literally just mount the cameras and go essentially. The screen on the camera is nice and big so its super easy to see and read. The 320XR record in a nice clean 1080p, the quality and colors look great and license plates are easy to read. I like the feature of "intelligent parking mode" which automictically detects and starts recording when any motion is detected around the car. The camera captures footage in a 140 degree angle, which is nice and wide for most use cases. The 320XR lacks the latest bells and whistles of Bluetooth and Wi-Fi built in but if you simply want a nice quality camera that records good quality footage, the 320XR does not disappoint. Just get yourself a nice size SD card and install and access your footage locally. TL;DR: The Nextbase 320XR is a solid dash camera that simply lacks a lot of bells and whistles of smartphone connectivity, Bluetooth etc. If you're okay with that, then its a more than capable dashcam that can keep you safe.

I have numerous dashcams now & enjoy seeing how the newer ones are better quality, more feature rich & true upgrades. The Nextbase 320XR is a really nice dashcam that records in 1080p full HD at 30fps. The physical buttons vs. some others that have touchscreens is nice. Sure we are living in a touchscreen world but something that is going to potentially save me an insurance claim, or a lawsuit by some scamming jerks should feel solid, have nicesolid buttons and not a touchscreen. This fits the bill nicely & I am happy. After installing I then updated the firmware & I must say the features, quality of the image & even quality of the dashcams & all the cabling is definitely something I noticed straight out of the box. I have a dash cam that I got from Amazon that is a well regarded brand both on Amazon & in the dash cam enthusiast community (I guess its called that?). The 320XR actually does a great job at keeping up with that other brand. I like having multiple large capacity sd cards on hand so I can swap them out if there are any errors, problems or hiccups along the way. I am happy to report that so far I have not had to do that thankfully! I am extremely happy with the 320XR and will be telling all our friends & family to give this model a try as they will not be disappointed!
