Great on paper, constant freezing issues.
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I did a lot of research and settled on this dash cam based upon review sites that had published prior model reviews. I should have looked at forums and purchase reviews more closely as it's clear that Nextbase dash cams have had freezing issues for a while. Based upon several multiple page postings on various dash cam related forums, they have freezing issues that in the past may or may not have been fixed with software upgrades depending on what forum you visit. My initial problem was that the camera appears to work normally until the SD Card gets full or at least has a decent amount of space used. Then it will simply freeze after 2 to 3 seconds of recording until you format it again. I was told by support that my non dash cam approved SD cards were the problem so I purchased an SD card that was rated well above their stated rates which is specifically for professional video recording. BTW, they only state on the box that you need a U3 rated card. Not a magical unicorn SD card that only they have been able to find and determine to be worthy of their devices. That high end SD card still had the issues so I asked for a return as my return period with Best Buy had now passed and they offered to send me a NextBase unicorn SD card that would surely fix my issues. Well it did change my issue, now instead of working for a day or two and then freezing up every time it will just randomly freeze every third or fourth time it's turned on. I have wasted two months with this device and their only answer is that I can't buy the right SD card when even their own card doesn't work. I'm done, I have again asked for a return for the full purchase price and will report back here if Best Buy allows edits of reviews as to whether or not they grant me this or I've been cheated out of 400 dollars.

Not Worth the Price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not what I expected. More hype than actual features that work. Camera has locked up several times. I have a $25 Dash Cam in another car that is more reliable than this one. The high resolution camera is good if you need to read a license plate. Other than that... Don't buy this one

Posted .Hello,
Thank you for your review. If the micro SD card is non-compatible or damaged, or if the SD card is not regularly formatted, the card could corrupt.
Symptoms of SD card failure are: an audible 'alarm' tone, non-functional buttons, freezing, corrupted files on playback, image missing from files, lack of file recording etc.
The issue that you have described is symptomatic of a non-compatible or failed SD card.
I'd recommend a Dash Cam compatible 8GB -128GB U3 Micro SD card, specifically designed for Dash Cam or CCTV usage. Using a dash cam compatible SD card instead should then allow your Dash Cam to function as designed. The card needs to have a minimum continuous write speed of 48MB/s.

Release too Soon into the market
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Having 4k its the best, with some new add-ons. But it also kept freezing up and I had to reset it every 10minutes or so, super annoying!! I returned it since I got fed up with it and hated it, I ended up buying the 522gw, and its amazing! :) no issues anymore.

Posted .Hello. Thanks for getting in touch and sorry to hear of your experience with the 622GW. Can I ask what sd card you were using please as that might have been causing the issues? I'm happy to hear you got things sorted with the 522GW and are enjoying the Dash Cam. Thanks, Nextbase

Go with another option.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This thing is so glitchy! The software or maybe I have a bad unit. If I do anything on the app while connected I have to reset the camera because it freezes. Not sure if it the app or the hardware. I’ve had for a week and have had to reset it at least 6 times. And yes I have a next base mini sd card in it. I would highly recommend going a different route. For the price of the unit find something cheaper and more reliable. I think it’s shameful a company would release something with this many issues. I’ve looked at other reviews and noticed I’m not the only one with these problems. I really want to like this unit.

Love It
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I started off with a cheaper dash cam, a Garmin, which I had all kinds of problems with. I then decided to splurge and get this model. It is worlds better then the first one I bought. Very happy with it, the video is crisp and clear. The software to view the video on the computer is also top notch. Recommended

getting so HOT Nextbase 622GW
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Best buy told me that the NextBase 622GW was the # 1 dash cam so I tried it. at 1st it was real easy to set up but after I plugged it in it started to get hot and even so hot I could not touch it. I returned it for a full refund. There sure are a lot of the same reviews on the dash cam getting so HOT..

Posted .Hello,
All of our cameras are tested between -20'C (-4F) to +45'C (113'F), although if the car temperature exceeds this you could potentially experience issues. We'd recommend removing the Dash Cam and placing in the glove compartment when the Dash Cam is not in use to prevent it being unnecessarily heated on the windscreen. When storing the Dash Cam for an extended time period, store within the following temperature range: from 0° to 25°C (from 32° to 77°F).
Under the mount is a heat sync, so this is the part of the camera that will get the warmest. It's nothing to worry about, they're designed to cope with the heat they produce.
However excess heat can be caused by a failed SD card. Please ensure that you're using a compatible SD card that meets the minimum SD card requirements. We'd always recommend a Nextbase SD card and formatting every two weeks within the camera.

Better than other Dash CAMS experienced
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great Dash CAM and much better than Garmin and Rove units I've tried. Easy setup and control. Phone app works good but a tab bit slow, but very usable. Easy to transfer or delete files. Was able to use a 128GB SIM Card. 622GW does not require polarizing filter since built in. Using the 422GW in other vehicle which I like and reason I wen with the 622GW version.

Posted .Hello,
Freezing is symptomatic of a non-compatible, or non-formatted SD card.
If the card is non-compatible or damaged, the card could corrupt which would cause a failure of data writing.
Symptoms of SD card failure are: an audible 'alarm' tone, non-functional buttons, freezing, corrupted files on playback, image missing from files, lack of file recording etc. Please ensure the card is formatted every 2-3 weeks.

Keeps freezing
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm coming from the older model 522gw I believe it was. I also have the 422gw in my girlfriend's car. Those cameras work great with no issues. But I was excited for this one. I made sure to have a fast sd card. But this camera kept freezing on me right after it would boot up when I start the car. It did it maybe 50 percent of the time. It would be stuck on an image it was last looking at. I had to hit the reset button because it wouldn't turn off. I got tired of dealing with that issue. Not worth 399 I can tell you that much. That issue makes the camera useless and if I have to use their sd card, It should have came with it. It's a pain to even find the nextbase sd card. I think the camera has potential. But that issue was a deal breaker for me. I did love the video quality and how fast you can transfer the videos to your phone. That was the best part of this camera. Their older model cameras take forever to transfer the full quality videos to your phone wirelessly.

Posted .Hello Shane. Thanks for getting in touch and sorry to hear of your experience with the 622GW product. From the sounds of it this looks like a faulty SD card issue. With the 622GW recording in full 4K it requires an ultra high speed U3 card for best results and from testing we have found the Nextbase cards are best to use. I am sorry to hear it was hard trying to find a nextbase card, we are releasing the 64GB and 128GB cards into Best Buy soon. As a gesture of goodwill, we would be happy to send out a replacement Nextbase SD card to you. Please send an email onto [email protected] and we can get the sorted for you. Thanks, Nextbase

So Far So Good
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far so good, but had to remove the polarization filter because I have a tint on my windshield that caused rainbows on the video. The image stabilization seems to work pretty good. My primary use will be recording my travels. I'm hoping the NextBase 256GB micro SD will work with this model. Got it on order.
