Lot to be desired with this game. The game pace is really slow. The goalies are still really bad in eashl.also the computer teammates never make the easy play and turn the puck over way to much . I love hockey this is not hockey . A bit of a let down.

Pretty much the same game as EA's NHL games since 2013. As a huge hockey fan, I wish they would devote some time to the game rather than putting out the same thing with a roster update.

game crashes after one game in be a pro mode. The gameplay is not as good as Nhl 16 such as passing, shooting, ai players. Same goaltender problems are present from the last 5 nhl games. The good part is it looks nice.

Gameplay is about the same as last years version. Slight improvements are boxing out for position near goalie .and goalie gameplay is better but still bad for a franchise game.

This game is barely better than is previous year. The loading of the game takes WAY to long and game play settings takes a lot of tweaking to get something that is play able.

On the HUT mode, it makes it hard to get packs unless you pay for them. I liked last year's mode better.

The EA Sports yearly offering of the NHL series falls short. The gameplay is being reduced to arcade style one man show performances to garner success in the game while it should reward team play with goals There are some new features to explore but it isn't worth the money to update your rosters.

Played the Beta and came away with mixed views. The game continues to play well and animations were overall solid, but seeing that this is the 3rd iteration of the series on the new platforms, (i.e., PS4 / XBOX One), I feel things getting a little stale. For a game that touts realism and being a hockey simulator, I still cannot believe that players can't get tossed out of the face off circle. This happens in every real hockey game, several times over. I also am still disappointed that there has been more emphasis placed on animating team mascots, then on post goal celebrations, and I am not talking about user controlled celebrations. Come on! I don't think hockey and then team mascots. Just seems like a waste of development time to me. How can you not embrace the most exciting part of the game, which is scoring a goal???? What I mean by that is, we are still seeing the generic 2 man goal celebrations, which NEVER happen in real life. What really takes away from the immersion, is when you score a goal and the rest of your teammates skate away from you, like nothing happened. It is just a real peeve of mine. I still think there also needs to be a way to create more board play, as this is also another huge element of every real life game. Yes, the end to end action is great, but the lack of a real board aspect to the game, also takes away from the realism EA is going for. I LOVE the NHL series and look forward to it every year. That is why I am so passionate about EA getting it right. Especially when aspects missing from the game are such an integral part of the real life game itself. Will I be picking NHL 17 up? Of course. The online leagues are a ton of fun as well as the be a pro mode. But I really hope that NHL 18 brings with it a major overhaul, to make the series feel fresh again, (new graphics engine, more focus on atmosphere and a more dynamic commentary; play Madden '17 and you will see what I mean). Don't get me wrong, NHL 17 is an improvement over NHL 16, but not as much as I had been hoping for. We will have to wait and see if that sentiment changes throughout the course of the season, as patches are released. I really hope it does.

As you hit the ice you’ll find that this year’s game plays smoothly with a good challenge if that's what you are looking for.
