It's clear EA didn't have anyone with any knowledge of the rules of hockey on the QA team. I've had 58 penalties in a 60 minute game and they call interference and goaltender interference when no such infraction occurred (I've watched in slow motion trying to find them). The graphics and physics modeling are good. The overall gameplay is terrible. Hopefully they patch the game and get some hockey people involved to fix the excessive penalty issues.

Love the game but not much has changed from previous years. I wish they would take time to make a majority of the players actually look like what they do in real life

Just not as interesting as it used to be. It's a good game, I personally, just don't enjoy playing it like years past.

I have been buying NHL games for year after year this year's edition is so content rich it is insane. NHL 16 felt like a ripoff with hardly any content, they redeemed themselves this year bringing back EASHL, better options in HUT, sets to complete, legends, heroes, GM mode, create a player it is all there. Don't miss this game if you skipped last year this is the one to get.

I buy NHL games yearly, and by far I believe this is the most customizable game ever placed upon the market. From teams to arenas even the stairs in the arena are customiziable, something I never thought of.

I did not think a game could get worse than 15/16 and it did, literally the only improvement of this game is the soundtrack, because in NHL 16, they "forgot" to add one, the gameplay is worse, it is not realistic whatsoever. They added in the ability to tie up in front of the net, which for some odd reason they also "forgot" to add in NHL 16 too. Also in the gameplay, there is essentially no point for stick lift since regardless of position, it'll either not work or result in a penalty, and the poke check is SUPER strong, it is impossible to deke, literally it is more useful to just skate forward. EASHL still sucks, they added more player types but still non would compare to being able to edit your own attributes, be a gm mode is a little better, you can get more involved in actually being a GM, but it still isnt fun when you want to play a game and you have to endure the awful gameplay. Everything graphics wise looks the same, the players still look nothing like they do in real life, which is odd since in like every other sports game, they actually look the same. Overall, DO NOT waste $60 getting this

I've been playing NHL video games since Blades of Steel on NES, trust me, you don't want to waste your money on NHL17. I've been reporting bugs to the game developers support on twitter with video evidence and they do not respond. You can control the puck much better in NHL 16. Passing is better as well. There are less features in NHL 16, but there's also less bugs. Save your money! I've been providing feedback to the developers directly as well as multiple surveys since NHL15 and they totally missed the bar on this one. They left out important features like coaches challenge which can be a big deal when you have a bad call that costs you the game. Invest yourself in NHL16 and say goodbye to EA Canada ever getting this one right.
