Game that is update version of hockey with this years roster

I like playing it when I get stress and depress. Love it.

As someone who has played every year of the EA SPORTS NHL franchise, I have to say that this was the worst one of them all. During online play penalties are called left and right.

Bought for my son he really likes the game !!!!!!!

If you want to play with your buds, stick with NHL 19. They add very little to the game every year at this point other than cosmetics. I will get NHL 21 if its $10-20, because at this point, you aren't getting a newer experience for full value.

The same game from last year with an updated roster. They have only focused on HUT and still haven't fixed many issues that have plagued this game from previous years.

Seems that EA Sports is lacking in producing a decent hockey game year after year. Issues still arise each year and weird gameplay continue. Game needs a complete overhaul.

I call it Nhl 19/29 because it’s almost the same thing just a few new things and updated rosters. I just wish EA would include more retro jerseys especially for the Sharks.

I bought this to play online; however, there’s a strange email on my ea account that I can’t change. So I’m unable to play online at all. I submitted a complaint to EA but they closed my case with no resolve or help. Others say they have the same problem with no resolve. I don’t know if this is a game issue or EA issue at this point but I’m not happy with this purchase. I had high hopes for this.

this game is more of the same of last year game, but if you enjoy hockey then this is the game for you

Bought this as a gift for my nephew. He seems to like it but it doesn't look much different to me from the previous versions.

The graphics in this game are great and gameplay is fun. I could spend hours playing this game.

Some year it might get better then ok, but probably not. Maybe EA should take a year off and do a complete overhaul..

Nothing special compared to previous games but it’s fun and helps kill the time

The gameplay has become increasingly more of an arcade style and the series is in danger of losing all resemblance of a true simulation sports experience. The online team play, which features 12 users playing 6 vs 6 at locked positions for their respective team, has turned into a tilted affair that very much favors offensive players, or more specifically, forwards. This leaves true defenseman and goalies that have long been dedicated to their craft wondering why they bother to play this game. Perhaps EA should just through in the towel and make this a strictly 3 vs 3 game. They could also re-invent the big head feature while their at it. Great job ruining the online team game by cowing to the complaints of non-skilled forwards who cry incessantly about how difficult it is to score. This game needs new design leadership before the next revision is released.

This game could be so much better! But what do you expect from EA. Unless you really need this immediately, wait for the sale!

Having grown up playing the classic arcade-style hockey games of the 90s and early 2000s, I haven't been a huge fan of this console generation's NHL games. It feels like EA sacrifices too much of the "fun" aspect in its pursuit of pure realism. I hadn't played an NHL game since 16, which had so much wrong with the gameplay that I sold it after a week. After hearing they brought in "alumni" players and teams - and they are available to use in both offline and online modes - I decided to take a chance on NHL 20. I'm glad I did. It's not perfect (but really, what sports game is?) but it is a lot of fun, and that's all I really wanted. The AI is much improved, passing is crisp, goalies seem to be better, and I enjoy the new commentary/presentation. You'll probably need to spend time adjusting all the settings to get the game, rules, and players so it all feels right to you, but it's worth it. I'd suggest turning down the penalty calls, because poke checking still results in an absurd number of tripping penalties. Outside of that, it's easily the most fun I've had with a hockey game in years and I recommend giving it a chance.
