This is the game video games needed. Alternating through a hack-and-slash parry based combat system with shooter elements and an actual horizontal and vertical shmup style, the game has a lot of variety in its perspective - changing hub world styled landscapes, using its several systems to support the changing narrative perspectives . It's a soulful, intimate game that cares about your experience , it's sad or shocking sometimes but never betrays the tableau it's created and the investment of the player. Uncompromising game.

The previous Nier game was good, but this one really surprised me. There are multiple endings that you want to get to hear the full story, and honestly they way it was put together with the gameplay is fascinating. It may make you stop and think.

Combat is great, story has depth, and game has over 20+ hours of playtime if you intend to get all the endings, complete side quests, etc.

The first game for the PS3/360 was really overlooked at the time. I'm glad they made a sequel to this and it's better than the first one.
