Incredible combat, story, and world, a must have for anyone

This game is such a unique beast. It has incredible hack'n slash game play like devil may cry and bayonetta, but its also has RPG elements, a huge world with interesting characters and story, and it jumps between 3D world and other more classical forms of gameplay, like top-down view or 2D side scroller, which keeps the gameplay interesting. I loved it!

This game is simply amazing. Most people may never have the opportunity to play Nier which is truly unfortunate. If you find yourself on the fence about this game I highly suggest you pull the trigger and get it. The story and combat system are second to none. Every once in a while Square Enix delivers a fantastic experience and Nier Automata is a perfect example.

This was a really fun to play game with an amazing plot.

While I have not played as much as I would have liked, the hours I spent on Nier: Automata were fun, allowing me to try out the combat system and other aspects of the game. The story has an interesting mystery to it and I am looking forward to unlocking the mysteries this game offers. The mix of old school bullet he** shooter and RPG elements is an interesting take on the genre, though we've seen such things in Kingdom Hearts. The combat is fast paced and has a level of strategy to it as well, as opposed to button mashing as some action RPGs are known for. I can't wait to dive into Nier even more.

Very fun hack and slash game with fantastic music and great graphics.

I'm not much of an RPG guy so I don't play this game, but I watch my son play it and it's like watching a movie. Enthralling story line.

Yoko Taro truly outdid himself. With a limited budget, he's proven along with the Platinum Games that the game does well. The game has a great story, great gtameplay mechanics, and overall, great flair despite not being a AAA game. This game only makes me excited for what Yoko Taro has next in store for the next eventual game.

Great story and overall game. Reflected in my life

I haven't played very much yet, but the first few hours have me intrigued. Usually, if a game doesn't hook me in the first 2 or 3 hours, I don't have the patience to stick with it. For some reason, even though this game had so many good reviews, I never picked it up until now. But I really like the post-human android/robot design aesthetic to the game's environments and characters. The combat is more fun than I thought it would be watching gameplay videos. There is a lot of potential for customization with leveling up and loot drops. I'm really gonna like this game.

The surprising follow-up to the cult classic from the PS3/X360 days, Nier Automata manages to very nearly one-up everything that the first Nier excelled at. With improved and flashy combat, more interesting sidequesting, and a gripping narrative, N:A is a no-brainer for any fans of Yoko Taro's other works and highly recommended for anyone who loves ARPGS.

I didn’t have much expectation for this game but I bought it and was taken for ride it was really good and definitely worth playing.

final fantasy 15 style combat ... but better! also has cool music.

I had never heard of the original Nier, and while I knew of excitement around this release last year, it never looked like 'my thing.' I saw it end up on a lot of critics' top 10 of the year lists, and Best Buy had a great sale on it, so I figured why not. There's some annoying stuff about the game, but overall it's worth the time and money.
