Only thing that I didn’t like is when I was logged out of the app, customer service for night owl couldn’t request/reset a new password bc I hadn’t verified my email only my phone number in which I no longer had that number. So make sure you verify both email and phone number just in case you forget the password or have a number change

Posted .We are sorry to hear of the experience you had. Your system would have included a 1 year warranty and we would have happily replaced the recorder. App lag is often related to internet connectivity or cell signal which we are always happy to troubleshoot if needed.

Flexible and expandable security camera setup!

The fact that everything is connecting up via wifi is well appreciated as someone who has long been of the “hard wired” mindset. I found the install to be relatively straight forward. I had to be strategic about placement as these do require an AC plug in for power and I had to run a couple of extension cords for the install. Nothing too bad though and I am certain I can clean up the setup later. The 4K video from these cameras is highly crisp and the lens seems to gather light well in the daylight and twilight hours. I noticed that at nighttime, the shutter speed does seem to slow down as the infrared turns on and this leads to some images of passersby ghosting or stuttering. I have noticed the same several second delay on motion detection that other reviewers have pointed out, but nothing that is extraordinary in the space of wifi connected cameras. I really appreciate the included 1TB NVR, that can hold at least a week or two of recording footage with ease and the fact that I can access it over the app instead of my TV like my old hard wire setup is excellent. Altogether, for ease of expandability and ease of install, I would highly recommend this Night Owl setup!

Didn’t take too long to get the cameras connected to the unit. I am coming from a wired unit that was almost impossible to watch via phone. This system is much better, graphics are great as well.

Posted .Hi Doodad. Yes, this is an AC Powered Wireless system. The cameras must be powered using the provided camera power adapters, but they wirelessly connect to the Wi-Fi NVR. We do have wire free cameras as well.
