I do not have an Ethernet hook up and was told I could used hotspots just fine. Not what instructions say. Still in box and not using. Waiting til I have some sort of interest with Ethernet ports.

Posted .Good afternoon. This system has built-in Wi-Fi to communicate wirelessly with the AC Powered cameras. However, to remotely view the system from a Smart Device or computer and to get automatic firmware updates, the Wi-Fi NVR needs to be connected to the Internet (any working network access point) via Ethernet cable. Again, that is not required (system can operate as CCTV and be viewed locally from a TV or Monitor without Internet). But for remote viewing, the system has to be hardwired to your Internet via Ethernet cable. Thank you for choosing Night Owl.

I like that I can check my phone and check to see what is going on around my house when I am not there this is the best purchase I made.

Don’t recommend

Wasn’t worth the money. I’ve tried resetting the cameras and even messing with the settings to no avail.

Does seem as though there is a delay in notifying us when there is activity. Thinking it's our Wifi (slow speed) that's causing this ?

NVR System

Despite High quality video evidence Seattle PD has yet to even contact me on any of my open cases. Nor the Post Master General. Crooks running Free in Seattle.

I was disappointed that it won't use my expanded wifi and the cameras won't connect at 100 ft I have a Wi-Fi with an 800 ft range in an RV park.but this system will not work.

Posted .Hi Jerry. The cameras can be up to 300 ft. from the Wi-Fi NVR, but will not work at the distance you are attempting (800 ft.). Posted .Hi Shelly. This is an AC Powered Wireless System, as listed on the product page and clearly shown in the marketing material. As the cameras are not battery-operated, they must be powered on using the provided AC power adapters and connected to an outlet. We do have some wire-free (battery-operated) cameras that are compatible with this Wi-Fi NVR. Please call our sales team at 1-866-979-0580 to learn more!

Night owl security system

The further you are from the system the more you get glitches and voice is distorted. It keeps logging me out of my app and saying I have no system available. This happens more often then none. Down call is it can be unplugged very easily.
