Start up camera system

Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I tried the Night Owl wireless system and it just didn't have enough power to stay reliably connected. I could never count on the wireless cameras staying connected and that's something that is very important with a security system. I replaced the wireless system with a wired camera setup and so far the cameras have been reliable. The wired cameras have fewer options (no sound and no infrared) but that's just something I'll have to workaround. The app is really lacking in features but that's something I can't do anything about. -- it works pretty good for a first-time-surveillance system.

I have a 1GB connection and still can't view with a mobile app. Works fine to monitor and record events just can't view remotely. I think the actual Nightowl can't transfer data fast enough to be viewed. Wish i had done more research. I've settled for checking events on my TV at home.

Good system, all the features I really need.

Cameras have very good color quality and low light capabilities. The system is easy to set up with clear directions. I only wish there were more kinds of cameras to choose from.

I've had lots of challenges getting cameras to connect. The extension antenna provided does not pick up as well as the short antenna. Video quality is good.

Wireless version is really bad

Maybe it`s me but I had a hard time getting past the login process. I also wish the instructions were easier to access. I have 1 camera which goes off line periodically. I don't understand why because it is only about 40 feet from the recorder. Although I bought it in July I only got the app working today. 8/30/2019.

Torn with my decision

The cameras are really good quality. However, the app and program that come with it not so much. The one camera seems to go off and on and with no reason. The app seems to function only when it wants to. I would have better peace of mind if I could review my home and it’s surroundings as the security was intended.

We also have several times that the cameras will lose signal. At this point we do not know if it is a user set up error or the system.
