I'm only using 4 cameras inside My home to see what my pet is doing while I'm away And interact with. I can see if everything is ok while I was away and she was alone . But live view helped me make sure my pet was good and taken care of. Anywhere you have internet it works and you can chime in at anytime to view multiple cameras at once. Since I installed inside I didn't utilize the siren option. I just recently went on a trip and was able to monitor the inside of my home with ease. Just as long as I had internet connection worked good. 1080p video looks good. I have the ability to turn on lights so I didn't get a chance to checkout night vision. Since I had experience wiring in my outside cameras the inside was a breeze. Also if you have a 1 story home with good access to the attic makes it world's easier to install.

This Bluetooth digital video recorder was incredibly easy to set up with the Night Owl app downloaded on my tablet. Although you can connect the DVR to a 1080p monitor (monitor not included), it is not required for setup or operation. However if you prefer to set up the system with a monitor a mouse is included with the DVR and you have full functionality and control. (You do have to plug it into a router with the supplied ethernet cable.) Each of the eight 1080p (color and black & white night vision) cameras comes with a 60ft cable, which I found was long enough to place the cameras in every location I desired. The cables are plug-in on both ends, making connection easy. Each camera's settings can be individually customized for motion and object detection, activity zones, recording settings, sensitivity, notifications, audio alerts, video quality, and spotlight control. With all these settings individually controlled on each camera you can really fine tune the system to meet your needs. Cameras can be used indoors or out. They are made of high quality material, are durable, weatherproof, and the video quality is outstanding in daylight, artificial light or nighttime. I have my DVR connected to my TV with the HDMI cable that comes with the system so I can adjust the settings and view the camera feeds and recordings directly on my TV. You can control the system and view the camera feeds and recordings on multiple mobile devices by simply downloading the Night Owl app on the device(s) you want to use.

I found this product to be excellent for our new home. We live in the country and our house has limited access to public safety or regular police patrol. Working in the city, we love being able to connect with the app to check on the house, property, and pets. Shape picture both day and night allows us to get a clear picture of who or what is at our house, if a package has been delivered and is still there hours later, and to provide quality video evidence should we ever need it. With 1 TB of recording DVR, we can keep videos for review or archive. The biggest issue is the wired setup. It requires creativity or drilling holes to place all the cameras effectively. PROS - Night Owl quality and design - 1TB storage - HD cameras work both day or night - Weather-resistant for years to come - App allows remote access and other features CONS - Wired setup can be challenging depending on the size of the location of installation. - Long-term concern of weather issues with wire connections (wet areas?) -

I was up and running in less than 20 minutes. The hardest thing was setting up the app. Setting up the system involves having your smart phone camera read the QR code on the included 1TB DVR and adding that to the app. The DVR then searches for the physically connected cameras and displays the output on the app. Its done very well and very easy to do. The build quality of the plastic cameras is fine for indoors but being a camera system designed for outdoor use, I would have preferred metal cameras. I fear that the plastics will not hold up very well in high sun lit areas because sunlight destroys plastic and makes it brittle in a very short time. Maybe this plastic is different and to be fair this is just speculation on my part. I really like the DVR feature. Its refreshing to not be tied into a monthly cloud storage plan and just manage the recordings yourself. I wish more companies would do allow this. That feature alone make the Night Owl system stand way out in front of their competitors. The app is very basic and therefore easy to use. Being a wired system you will enjoy the benefit of camera feeds that have absolutely no frame drops that are usually plagued in wireless DVR systems. If you can go wired - do it. Wireless is always spottier.

Another great product from Night Owl. The Night Owl - 8 Channel Bluetooth DVR with 8 Wired 1080p HD Spotlight Cameras works great. I had to have it installed professionally, but it was worth it. I love the wired version because there is no lag in the video feeds on the cameras. The built in harddrive is great too, so there is no server cost, or monthly fee to operate these. Using the app is great as well, seeing each camera, setting up zones, etc..

Night Owl has come out with another great security system. The biggest complaint I have on the system is that it’s hard wired. Most electricians don’t want to mess with the installation and if you do it yourself, plan ahead. Measure your distances and account for the thickness of your walls and add some extra amount for some play. This way your not drilling extra holes in your wall that you will have to fill in later. The System itself is great, it is another App based system that sends notifications to your phone every time it senses a “person”, I guess my Neighbors trees look like a person when the wind blows, but AI is never perfect, but think about the background when ever you are placing your cameras. The Smart Detection works pretty well, it doesn’t seem to pick up the neighborhood cats like my other system did, so those notifications have gone way down. I do like the fact that it will send a snapshot to your phone, of the person it detects as it still records digitally to the DVR. I have a yard guy and at least I know when he is there, but not getting a video every time he walks in front of the camera. I also like the fact that after I get a package delivered, I can see if the delivery person, throws it on the porch or places it gently down on the ground. The DVR records in 1080p so details are great, and with the added motion activated spotlights facial recognition is easy at night. The System is easy to setup and use once the cameras are in place, no tv or monitor is required with the Night Owl app. Just use your phone to connect the DVR up with Bluetooth. The System also has built in sirens on each camera and is compatible with Google Assistant.

Having reviewed a few of these systems the Night Owl 8-channel system doesn’t do a whole lot to stand out from the others. It’s fairly basic, but does what it’s advertised to do, provide security for you and your family. The biggest differentiator in my opinion is Bluetooth support. This is helpful because you do not need a dedicated monitor, nor occupy a HDMI port on your TV. All viewing can be done on your phone which i appreciate. While video quality could be better, the cost to get to 4k is exponential. This system doesn’t do anything wrong, and checks all the necessary boxes. Pros +local storage no cloud +color coded wires +Bluetooth to phone +no monitor required +secure wired cams +does not bog down W-Fi +USB mouse is included Cons -image quality could be better -requires planned wire routes -no Apple Secure Video support -audio quality seems gimmicky Conclusion This camera system does everything it’s supposed to do, and is priced more aggressively than prior years offerings. Bluetooth support sends video and/or motion event alerts to your mobile device. Recommend Buy

Best Buy availability to this product was great! Information on how this product works was not forth coming. I have you this product before, thinking it all worked the same was not a good idea for me to assume. This product performance is a bit difficult and not user friendly, since the previous product was easy.

Don’t Buy!!! I’m so disappointed at the system but mostly at the app for your phone. The set up was a okay but easy. The picture quality is good. No matter I have it on the lowest motion settings it detects the same thing over and over parked trash cans leaves etc. once you get the notification they are so late the event has passed. I hate the app it’s makes the camera system useless and disappointing. And no it’s not my internet because my other cameras system never had those issues. If I could return them I would but Best Buy said no it’s been more then 15 days .

It was worth the money and to install was a breeze

This product is garbage it doesn't even come with directions inside they want you to hook your security cameras up to a computer and then they want access to your computer so they can help you I bought one of these I can't even record I can't review none of my stuff because I can't get in it every time I go to use the review button I have to call the company and they have to walk me through it and push codes in to access it it's junk don't buy it

I wish I would’ve went what I said I was going to get at first. These Security Cameras are the worst. They do not record human or face when pictures AT ALL!! Very disappointed . I’ve had these cameras for 2 years and they have never worked. Purchasing a different kind.
