Amazing Z glass
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This lens is absolutely amazing. I sold all of my DSLR gear (shot with a D3/D850) and went mirrorless. I shoot with a Nikon Z6ii, and wanted some more reach than my 70-200 z 2.8 for baseball. I used to shoot with an old AF 300 2.8, that weighed a ton. This 400 4.5 is lighter than my 70-200 and is well balanced on my Z6ii with battery grip. I wanted this over the 100-400 for faster aperture. Just amazing. It’s sharp wide open, and with the high iso capabilities of the Nikon Z6ii, no issue. I have done shots as high as 16,000 iso

Expensive but nice telephoto prime
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's ridiculously expensive, true to Nikon custom... What can I say though. It's a compact (relatively speaking of course) telephoto prime lens. Very light and feels nice on the Z8. Pics are from when just delivered, straight from the box, on the backyard deck, high noon, and all I could get a shot of immediately is a turkey vulture and a blue jay. Autofocus tracks nice on Nikon AF detection on the Z8. Can't wait to try tiwh other modes. Again, expensive glass, but as of the end of June 2023, this lens was still $250 off on Best Buy website.

Solid, Light lens.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My first prime telephoto and I am amazed with the sharpness and focus speed while shooting with my Z9. Upon unboxing and mounting the lens on my camera i saw that the firmware for the lens was an older version. Updating the firmware did not show any noticeable change, but it is a new lens and I have not really taken it out for a good day of shooting. I debated purchasing this lens or holding off for the new 150-600 f6.3 but decided on the 400 due to it being significantly lighter, better weather resistant build and I'll add a teleconverter to get the extra reach.

Great 400mm Lens
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Amazing lens from Nikon. Paired it with my Z9 and produced very contrast and sharp images. Plus it’s very light for a 400mm prime. Plus if you pair with 1.4x TC, it still produce sharp images, this is just amazing lens for Nikon mirrorless cameras.
