Starter lens
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Picked out this macro because of the price- if I had to do it again I would pay more for a better lens. It’s fine, but not great.

Meh.
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It performs the same as a standard zoom lens, you just don't need to, y'know, zoom in.

great for macro shots!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Im just starting out as a photographer and looking to get better. Im learning to take different shots and one type im interested in is macro. This lens is great for getting some real up close shots. Things stay in focus, really nice bokeh, well detailed shots, and i plan on using this lens alot more often. Great lens for a nikon d3100!!!

Great lens
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this as a macro lens, I'm able to get within 6 inchs of my subject and still focus. An added bonus was the ability to take great shots without a flash in low light situations. A little more than I wanted to spend when I went in looking, but, the salesperson I was working with said this was the better lens and I would be happier. She was right.

Great pic quality but terrible focal length...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I ended up buying this lens but returning it after a few weeks. Anybody who works with macro photography will tell you that anything less than 85mm isn't recommended for macro photography. This 40mm lens blocks most of the natural light you need while taking pictures because you need to be ONE INCH away from your subject to really use it at its potential. While it takes amazing pics, the fact that you're too close to your subject and blocks out yoru light, as well as the body-flash and external flashes. I'd recommend the 85mm or the 105mm (for sure)

Great Macro Lens
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great macro lense. I use it on a Nikon D7000. It performs at a premium level and for the price you can't beat it. This lens also has metal mounting, instead of plastic, so it's very durable when compared to the average kit lens that comes with most DSLR's.
