Great Every Day Lens

Great beginner or more advanced lens
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I will be shooting action scenes in the future but initially wanted this lens for my son's graduation from boot camp. I love the distance it offers but still debating if it will be accurate enough for that particular event. Nonetheless has served me well so far! Much rather spend some $$ on a lens than on a high tech camera I don't know how to operate.

Affordable and Reliable
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Released around September 2013, this is one of the best, affordable lens for APS-C Nikon cameras. Pictures are clear and sharp, and the quality is excellent. Build construction is solid though it will add a reasonable amount of weight to the front of your camera (the lens weighs 1.08 lbs or about half a kilogram). Focus is quick and accurate, along with the being extremely quiet. I would highly recommend this lens for the majority of shooting situations a photographer may encounter.

Great general purpose lens
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this lens to replace the Nikon 18-105 lens I had on my Nikon D7100. I like this lens much better than the 18-105. The lens construction seems good, and it has a metal lens mount (much better than the cheap plastic mount on the 18-105). The lens has a nice feel to it, it's not too heavy, the zoom ring is slightly firm but smooth, and the Vibration Reduction works well. The autofocus speed is good. This lens produces nice sharp images on my D7100. Its zoom range is great as an all day walk around lens (this lens stays on my camera 95% of the time, rarely when I need a longer focal length will I put on my 55-300 lens). Initially I was hesitant to purchase this lens because of so many bad reviews on other sites, but now that I own it, I'm glad I purchased it. Sure, it's not a "fast" lens in terms of f stop, but consider adding maybe a 35mm or 50mm prime lens for low light shooting and your good to go. In my opinion, if your looking for one lens you can put on your camera and walk around and shoot with all day long, this is it! Personally, I'm glad I spent the money to upgrade to this lens and retire my old 18-105...the 18-140 is better in my opinion (yeah, I'm sure others will disagree on that!). Overall, I'm happy with my 18-140 lens and enjoying my photography.

This perfectly suits my purpose.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted a lens where I can just use one lens instead of the two (18-55 and 55-200mm). This perfectly suits my purpose.

Love it
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this glass. Use it with my Nikon D7100. NIKKOR 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6 and Nikon D7100 pair up great together. I use it to shoot both photos and videos of my 5 year old grandsons soccer games. Also for portraits. Very sharp clean photos.

Replace kit lens
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this and returned it next day as it did not have the A/M on the lens as advertised. Just A and M are your choices you can't override the A without flipping the switch on the side. This was a deal breaker for me . Picture quality was the same as the new 18-55 II to me.

Not as sharp as the 18-105
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this lens with the D7200; I already had a D7000 with the 18-105 lens. I did a comparison using a tripod and manual focus with each lens on the D7200. The 18-105 had far better resolution when comparing 6000x4000 images at 100%. You may not be able to tell it when you "fit-to-screen", but not having that detail is an important quality I need. The 18-140 is the top image and the bottom is the 18-105. Even though I had to crop tighter on the 18-105 to get the same frame as the 18-140, it still had better sharpness.
