Great lens for traveling. No need to carry a bunch of lenses. This lens is pricey but worth the money. Make sure you buy the protection plan. I fell down on some cobblestones in Rome and damaged my lens. Best Buy could not repair it but gave me a brand new lens.

I took my lens on vacation and it was awesome for taking pictures at a variety of ranges without having to switch to different lenses. Its a great all around lens for anyone.. beginner or pro. The only bad thing is that when I was wearing it around my neck, it was a little heavy. That is to be expected though. I plan on buying a better padded neck strap for the camera because I am totally in love with this lens.

Most of my photography is done on vacation trips. This one lens has replaced the two lenses I used to carry. Nothing was more frustrating than missing a shot while I fumbled with changing lenses. This one lens covers the full range that I typically shoot. Plus the VR feature allows me to shoot at surprisingly slow speeds which help to offset the fact that it’s not a particularly fast lens.

This is a great 'one lens for all occasions'. It is a bit heavy but really does perform across the spectrum. I have all the usual selection of lenses but this is my new favourite that sits on my camera most of the time.

I wanted to avoid carrying multiple lens and was looking for a lens which I can use for portrait and zoom. turns out to be best lens in my possession.. It is little bit heavy but don't mind it because I need to carry single lens only

Picked this up for less than $300 including one year warranty. This is a great lens giving you a wide angle to telephoto view. For its size, it's compact, a little heavy but the range more than makes up for its weight. If you can find one for less than $400, get it.

This is a great all around lens for everyday use. For an everyday walk around lens where you don't want to mess with changing lenses, this is a great choice. It is sharp at both 18mm and 200mm. It has quick auto focus with vibration reduction so handhold in low light or with quick subjects is a breeze. I have several lenses but this is my go to lens when I don't want to be burdened down by a bunch of gear. This is a time tested lens, and you won't be disappointed with the quality you get.

Purchased this awesome lens, mostly because I did not want factory lenses and I did not want to carry more than one lens anymore. This lens suits the purpose of carrying both types of lenses that I had carried in the past. The lens takes very crisp and sharp pictures. The lens is a bit heavy, but you get used to it after a few more uses. I also got a great price on the lens too when I purchased a nikon d5200 dslr camera. It was definitely worth the wait.

We purchased this lens for a Nikon D3300 at the recommendation of a friend who is a photographer. As a beginner, our camera only came with an 18 to 55 millimeter lens only. Since we were planning a trip to Ireland and needed a zoom, he suggested this lens as an all around good lens for everything we would do on a trip. In other words this lens has a lot of range and capability to handle the whole trip without having to swap lenses for different photos. This lens is quite a bit bigger and the one that came with her camera, but it does a whole lot more. The close range pictures are great plus the lens offers a pretty big zoom and comes with the benefit of being able to do depth of feild effects with focus blurring for artistic pictures.

I have just started using this lens with nikon D7100 .. I am not getting any lens creep or so .. It's solidly built .. Due to it's long range I generally use this lens all the time .. It's versatile .. There are some aberrations , but as this lens covers a huge range we can accept few shortcomings ...

This is a great lens for travel. No need to switch lenses when taking group shots or landscapes, or when zooming in to see a little closer. VRII works well to stabilize shots out the car window. Having the flexibility to easily switch into manual focus is a nice plus. Occasionally auto-focus will find the wrong focus target and a quick adjustment to the focus ring is all that's needed to get the desired shot.

Overall, this was really a great lense which replaces the kit lenses that you typically get. I saw some reviews about this lense being a bit heavy but I think that's inherent to getting an 'all-in-one' type of lense. I actually ended up returning mine to get the longer zoom (18x300).

Takes great pictures and is a fast lens. It's an all around lens to use. I do not anticipate needing to buy another lens for my camera - so this truly a great investment for your camera. You don't have to change the lens at all once you have this lens - the pictures came out looking very professional and I'm an amateur photographer who previous to using this DSLR has always used a basic digital camera.

I shot a free wedding for a family member. Shots in the mid range 18 to 100 and those with flash turned out better than expected. Having the ability to go out to 200 saved having to change lenses. After some post processing 80% of shots looked really good (20% user error). Great lens for what it is designed to do!
