This is a great beginner landscape and low light lens for crops sensor cameras. F 1.8 makes it very fast.

I had this lens three years ago but sold it for the reason I had a 50/F1.8 lens, thought I didn't need this. But since the day I sold it, I started missing it. For my usage, 35/F1.8 is more versatile and it's at the sweet spot of price and performance. Picture is crispy sharp, color is vibrant, can't say enough of it. But I still with Nikon can roll out a 24/F1.4 for DX format and with a price not much higher than this one, which if kind of impossible though...

Had previously purchased this lens but ended up returning it as I got buyers remorse. BIG mistake, this lens is awesome purchase it on sale and I love taking picks of my baby girl.Plenty of light comes into the lens that I can turn off the flash so it doesn’t hurt her little eyes. It does get some getting used to it being a prime but I’m working through it. The pics I’ve been taken are amazing thins lens isn’t getting returned.

Bought this to photograph close subjects.

I purchased this lens because my first lens, AF-S VR 70-300/4.5-5.6G IF-ED, was zoomed in too far for closer subjects. So my 35mm did a great job photographing the Oak Hills High School Band from close range.

This is an awesome lens for your third or fourth addition. I use it to create close in shots that tell a story and show an intimacy with the subjects. It is a little slow to focus and with the smaller COMOS chip common to DSLR's it is closer to a 50mm than a 35mm lens. the focal length is reflexive enough to allow incredible depth of field control. I enjoy playing with this feature the most. The F 1.8 also allows in an incredible amount of light, allowing for less flash an more natural lighting.

First lens I purchased after only using the ones that came with the camera and I love it. You can use it for landscapes to portraits to night photography. A very fun lens to use that will challenge you to find the right angle or the distance you want since there is no zoom feature like the kit lens. Overall I think this is a great lens to purchase. You will become a better photographer and your pictures will be amazing

Nice addition of this prime lens for my D5100. Bokeh is comparable to the 50mm prime. A great lens at a bargain price.

This lens is truly one of the best purchases I've ever made. I use it every single day, and it works for so many kinds of photography. It is perfect for portraits, but also landscapes and scenery. I love this lens so much and don't think I could find a better "everyday" lens if I tried. If you're considering this lens, go ahead and get it, you will NOT be disappointed.
