We got this lens for close-up, wide angle and portraits. It is a great addition to our D5200. With this lens, we now have a complete camera package (we also have the telephoto and standard lens) so we are prepared for any shot.

I bought this lens a few years ago and gave it to my daughter with a Nikon D3300. Time passed and I missed having this lens myself. It is a good lens for DX cameras and I recommend it. In fact, I think this ought to be a kit lens for Nikon DX DSLRs.

This is a great prime lens that all photographers should have available in their lens bag. Don't get me wrong, if you have only used zoom lens it does take a little time to get used to it. Once you do, this will be one of the few lens that you carry with you all the time.

I was looking for a wide lens for wider photographs. I believe this one is doing just that. I am enjoying the photographs I am getting by using this. I have only shot photos twice so far but I am very satisfied. I would recommend for amateur photographs.

This a good entry level lens. Image quality is good and the price is right. The focus ring could operate smoother.

I've been shooting with this lens since I bought it about 3 months ago. Very nice portraits in low light, and daylight. This lens belongs in every backpack of all dslr owners. Not so good for night sky photography. For it's main purpose I rate it 5 stars.

Amazing lense at a very affordable price. I was hesitant to buy this product at the first phase but after thorough research, I finally decided to go for it and since then, no regret. You can take great pictures in low light as well.

This is a wonderful small and light lens. Eventhough it's for a DX it is still great for a full frame camera. Great quality and sharp images can be taken with it. Very affordable and easy to use.

If you have a D40/D40X/D60 youwill want this lens!

This is truly a great lens. Have you ever wondered why your pictures from your Nikon DLSR look good, but not great? This lens is the answer. Good glass makes such a difference! A 1.8 lens gathers 4 times as much light as a 5.3 lens, so this will blow away the 18mm-55mm kit lens as well as the 18mm-200mm all-purpose lens. What this means that in good light the pictures will be tack sharp and have great color. It also means this lens works great in poor light- in fact, I have dimmer switch on my room lights and I tested this lens by dimming the lights and taking pictures as it got darker and darker. I had to turn the lights completely OFF before I could get the lens to not focus. Most of the time you won’t need a flash with this lens, which makes it perfect for weddings and churches. It will work with any current Nikon DX, the AF-S means it works with the D40/D40X/D60 line perfectly. Set your auto ISO to 1600 and 1/30 trigger and you will get sharp pictures in almost any lighting. The 35mm on a DX camera is equivalent to 52.5mm on a full-frame camera, which is almost a 1:1 or “normal” lens. This means that what you see with your eye will be the same as what you see through this lens, as far as apparent distance. It’s neither a wide-angle nor a telephoto lens. The lens is a bit smaller than I thought, but this works well with the small size of the D40/D40X/D60 line. It’s lightweight due to use of plastic in its construction, although it does have metal ring where it connects to the camera. A nice touch is that to manually focus all you do is turn the focus ring; you don’t have to move a switch first. Price was right at $199.99, and my local Best Buy had several of them in stock and none on display, which makes sense since this is a very popular lens and those who know about it won’t need to see it on display. My only complaint with this lens is that VR would have been a nice feature, even if it added a few dollars to the price.

Great inexpensive prime lens. The reviews and reputation of this lens are awesome and true. Most have if you want to save cash and are ok with using it on a none stabilized F-mount camera.

This 35 MM prime lens is an outstanding piece of equipment for the money. I'm impressed with the quality of the photos I'm taking with this lens and its ease of operation. Nikon has made a winner here...and at a great price to boot!

This lens is phenomenal. Extremely sharp and has that beautiful background blur that everybody looks for. It has a quick focus and it's silent as well. I had a 50mm before this, but it was a little too zoomed in for my liking. But the 35mm is perfect!

The 35mm Nikon lens is awesome. I wanted to have the ability to have the background of my photos be a bit out of focus, and this lens does a great job at it. Great price for a Nikon Lens. I would recommend that you add this lens to your camera bag.

This lens is a great prime. You have to zoom with your feet. You can get close to your subjects and its good for some landscape shots as well. With an aperture of 1.8, it's a fast lens. It lets a lot of light in. Autofocus is really fast too.
