This is a great first add-on lens when moving up from the includes kit lenses. It let's in more light than the cheaper ones they trlhrow in with SLRs, and the fixed focal length really gets you used to composing your shots better rather than relying on the zoom capability.

This lens provides the owner the ability to shoot great portraits, even for beginners.

I simply love this lens and I use it just about all of the time.

If you have a full frame camera and looked at the price of the 35 mm for that body, you probably noticed its double the price of this lens. I've been using this DX lens on my FX body, I have the D750, and I've had no issues with this lens. Any dark vignetting that occurs, is removed 100% in photoshop in 2 seconds, during the normal RAW processing import (removing distortion, adjusting levels).

I'm still new as a hobby taking photos. Wildlife and outdoors landscapes. My first prime. I got it for the price and see how I would like using a prime lens and in low light. After I learn the lens and use it more it could be a 5 stars. But right now It provides good pictures.

I love my 35mm lens. Its 1.8 aperture lends to great low light shooting and has great bokeh in daylight.
