Cost is right for a prime lense for a beginner.

excellent lens for general purpose & macro

I use it mostly for macro photography, with macro filters attached, great results. I also use it a lot for composed landscape shots. It's fully compatible with the D5000 line of Nikon cameras and performs flawlessly.

Great wide lens for low light conditions.

Still need to get use to how autofocus works with this lens - it doesn't always pick out what I want. I'm sure the issue is with my photo skills rather than the lens though! Great overall.

Great wide angle compact lens

Her original camera package came with a 55mm lens and a 70 x 300 zoom, so this 35mm lens filled a need in her camera arsenal. She has used it many times and loves the lens and ease of use.
