Great lens with affordable price....
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I already have the 50mm for my D90, it is a great lens over all. However, when I tried the 35mm lens a the San Jose Camera shop, I could not wait to get one. Since I brought it home, 4 days ago, it stayed on my D90 until now. It has about the same "great photo quality in low light" as the 50mm, but it also gives me "more room" for a picture as well, I do not have to move in and out of my object so much as the 50mm lens. I took it to a park and tried out in the sun---> the colors and saturation of this lens are...superb. Do not think that if you already have the 50mm, then you do not need this 35mm. Believe me, you need to have this lens for just to walk/carry around.

Great lens for indoor use
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had my d5100 for about 8 months. It came with a 17-55 and 55-200 lens. This is my first dslr camera and I fell in love with it. My only problem I had was with indoor shooting and the shadows from the flash. This len allows me to turn the flash off and get better pictures than with the lenses that came with the bundle I bought. I print my picture 13 x 19. With this lense I need no editing software to print them. For the price best money I spent!

Excellent, excellent lens!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this lens primarily for it's low-light capabilities and sharp bokeh. I use it all the time I do indoor shooting. I've used both this lens and the 50mm and I would have to say this one is definitely worth the extra buck.

Great Lens!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.how could you rate this lens any less then 5 stars. for all of you that rate this 4 and below are thinking waaaay to hard about it. i respect that tho. keep nikon on its toes i take it lol.. anyways 200 bucks and you get speed, sharp images, and DOF. i did go back to my stock lens because of the wide angle. this is a fun little lens tho.

Best 50mm equivalent lens for a DX NIKON
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Quite simply the best lens for a DX sensor Nikon if you want the standard 50mm look and feel from the past. Due to crop sensor factor of 1.5x, this lens equates to a focal length around 52.5mm (close to our eyesight range). A nice look for candid shots of street scenes, etc without being overly wide. Everything is great on lens and I am only nitpicking by saying it could be built better but it's fine for the price. So, if you want beautiful DOF and lowlight performance, you cannot go wrong.

Great Lens
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If this lens is not in your bag then it should be. Fast, sharp, great "pro" quality lens for under $200. What else can I say. I also have it's cousin, the 50mm model. While both are outstanding, the 35 mm is a little better. Auto focus is fast, accurate and quiet. Images are clean and sharp. And, let me say it again, f2.8 for under $200. What are you waiting for?

Amazing bang for the buck
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a truly great lens at an amazing price. I have some pictures that are so sharp, you can zoom in all the way and see the reflection of the room in the pupils of the eyes. And the bokeh is just fantastic. The large aperture also means that you can shoot indoors without a flash and get a much nicer, more natural lighting effect. I highly recommend this lens to any non-pros who want to take great portraits.

Great lens!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Photographed mountains/caves with this lens over Christmas in low light, and used it inside with only the on camera flash and got excellent results. Even outside, in almost total darkness, subjects about 30 feet away were clear. The auto-focus was a little slow at times, but given the lack of light and distance from subjects, operated better than I expected. Will probably leave this lens on my camera much of the time.

Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 35mm f/1.8 Lens
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 35mm f/1.8 Lens has a sturdy construction: metal F mount mating ring and a rubber gasket. I have always been able to autofocus within 0.5 sec. Manual override focus ring is conveniently placed. Autofocus mechanism is barely audible. Barrel distortion is noticeable only when you look for it; chromatic aberration (purple fringing) is observed only at the pixel level for backlit objects (thin tree branches against a bright sky). In any case the distortions of this prime lens are lesser then in any but the best ($1500+) zooms. Wide maximum aperture permits shooting indoors with regular lighting handheld (with some practice).

My favorite lens right now
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great lens! Love the depth of field on it. I use it mainly for taking portraits indoors or out. Takes some getting used to when it comes to setting the aperture rating as a beginner, but worth the effort! The lens is also extremely light, makes my camera feel more like a p&s.

Great Prime Lens
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was blown away at how much better my pictures come out with this lens. This lens has a great bokeh which draws you into the object that you are shooting. Just remember that this is a fixed lens and you will have to "move your feet" to frame your shot and capture the shot you want. It's not a zoom lens but if you are looking at this lens, I would assume you know somewhat what you are looking for. For the price, it is a complete no brainier as other lens can go for hundreds of dollars more.

Nice lens
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was pleasantly surprised by this lens. Excellent speed, esp with low aperture settings. I often use this nice quality prime lens as opposed to the kit when I want max background blur or simplicity.

Fantastic Lens
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The color rendition, precision clarity, depth-of-field control, and low light performance are second to none. Must have prime lens for DX format cameras
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The 35mm f/1.8 lens is great for people with DX format bodies. Very fast, sharp, and silent. Everyone learning photography should try one out. This is the equivalent of the nifty 50 on FX camera bodies.
