Great Prime lens
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have both the 35 and 50 mm lens but I prefer the 35 mm. I took it with me to Manila last March. My Sister-in-law was so impressed with the pictures she decided I am going back to Texas without it!

Prime Lense
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I read a lot of reviews about what lens to get and decided that this one is basically a must have for any photographer. It's a prime lens that does well at low-light and provides sharp details, for everyday use, and as a prime lens, it is very affordable compared to other prime lenses available at the moment.

This is my Full-time lens after purchase
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my full time lens for my D40 The review has always been great on this lens and I was waiting for Best Buy to carry them since I have the reward zone points. I am pretty satisfied with the lens. I have a Nikon D40 and this lens makes a big difference when I shoot food in bars. I can even capture every single hair of my friends and bubbles on my beer.

Amazing lens!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For the price I think is the best lens you can get on the market, the pictures you can take with this bad boy are amazing. The only not so great about this product is that it doesn't have zoom, but I assure you for the quality, you wouldn't mind making that extra work while taking pictures

Great lens for available light photography
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very sharp lens and fun to shoot with available light. Brings me back to the good old days when I first started out with my Nikon film cameras. Beats the kit lenses for most situations.

No sharper than kit lens
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm very disappointed based on soooooo many glowing reviews stating how much sharper this lens is than the typical 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 kit lens. It is NOT! If you want a lens that is sharper than your kit lens, this lens will NOT be that lens. I have tested it extensively, and if anything, it has a slightly softer focus than my kit lens. This lens WILL do 3 things for you for any given photo compared to the typical 18-55mm zoom kit lens: 1. You can have less noise due to a lower ISO. 2. You can have a faster shutter speed. 3. You can have a shallower depth of field. It will do any of those three things, but only with a sharpness which is comparable, or sometimes softer than, the typical kit lens. I bought this lens as a gift for my daughter to take with her on an upcoming trip to Europe. Based on the reviews, I thought that she would be so pleased with the increase sharpness primarily, and the other benefits secondarily, that she could take this as her only lens. She would give up the flexibility of the modest zoom of the kit lens, for what I had hoped would be a significant improvement. But, that simply isn't the case. So the old saying is still true. There is no such thing as a free lunch. You don't get a tack sharp lens for the price that this thing sells for ~$200. You will get less noise for any given shot, and that is certainly a benefit. If you are taking shots where you want to reduce your depth of field, this will do that too.

Great lens for every DX camera
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great for indoor use where you don't want to be right up close to the subject; the large aperture makes it even better for indoor use and shooting moving subjects

It's a great, low cost, prime lens!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For $200 it's a great deal for the lens that you are getting! sure it's not the highest quality lens out there, but for low light shooting and an all around lens it is great. Its size is nice because you can practically put it in a jacket pocket and carry it as a second lens. I highly recommend this lens to anyone who enjoys taking photos!

The only lens you'll need
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm surprised this lens is only $200. It produces great bokeh and clarity in pictures. It's small so it's easy to store and carry around. Unless you need to use zoom, this lens is the only one you'll need.

Great fixed lens
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The lens is a requirement if you want a good quality picture of anything, but it is not a wide angle and he downside is you have to be at least a couple feet away from what you are capturing due to the fixed zoom and some challenges trying to capture wide angle shots of family standing together. No brainer a must have lens for any nikon camera owner.
