I love this lens. I use this lens with my teleconverter to get up close and personal.

Very sharp. replaced my 80-400. big improvement. my 1.7 tele converter works great with it but my 1.4 doesn't. Go figure! on my D500 that is an equivalent of a 12756mm. it won't auto focus unless it is fairly bright out

My husband has been wanting this lens for a while. He takes a lot of photos that require just a little more umph, and this lens is doing the trick. great lens for taking awesome photos.

Excellent optics provide excellent pictures. Bought with the Nikon $150 instant rebate and a $300 Best Buy reward making the lens 1/3 the price of the new fixed 500mm F5.6 lens. It is HUGE and HEAVY but for $950 an excellent purchase !!!

The price was within my budget and the quality of the images are great. I got this to use for bird photography, also shot the eclipse with it and was able to actually see sunspots on the surface. Extremely pleased with the quality.

Using this lens on my D750 and my D7000. For the price of this lens it is very sharp, modern plastic housing construction. Color rendition is very nice! I would recommend this lens for birding, daytime shots with good light.

Bought this lens recommended by a friend. For this price range this lens is very sharp. Perfect for birding and nature photos where you cannot get close to your subject.

Heavy? Yes. Clarity? Excellent even when shooting handheld. Range? Amazing at this price point! Any other Nikon lens in this focal range is well over $5k. Overall an excellent long range telephoto zoom for the semi-pro photographer!

I bought this lens to photograph a NASA night-time rocket launch. The lens worked great and I captured some memories that night. Since then, it has been my go to lens for birds, though I often don't go farther than my back yard.

I really like the quality of my photos. Only drawback is this is a heavy lens. For me the handle has been a great help

This lens is fantastic! I haven't had an opportunity to try it out on anything really good yet, but just a quick test, it can read a license plate two blocks away. The autofocus is very smooth and quiet.
