Easy to use, takes great indoor photos, a must have item to own

Fantastic lens, this is a mainstay in my kit when I'm out shooting. Wonderful at catching the light as it gets darker out. You can create bokeh in your shots that is very similar to shooting with a 1.4. Love this lens. Minimal lens distortion as well.

This lense is hard to focus at 1.8, but works well and takes sharp photos otherwise. It was a good purchase and a good lens to add to your kit!

Perfect lens for portraits and indoor candid shots that you don't want to use a flash for. Great lens option for the amateur or professional photographer. Affordable price. Only problem I've noticed is that you have to be quite far back from your subject to make them fit into the frame. This is just something to get used to though.

great bokei effect, light to use and a good first lens

I have a Nikon D7200 and D3400, I have used this lens on both and the picture quality comes out smooth like butter on both of these DX bodies. This a perfect first prime lens, great fro street photography and really good for portraits.

This lens is incredible! I'm actually using it more than the stock 18-55 lens that came with the camera. No zoom, which means that I have to physically get closer or farther from my target, but the image is sharp and detailed. Definitely would recommend this lens! Everyone should have it in their bag always.

I absolutely love this lens! I definitely upped my photography game as a beginner. I have two zoom lenses but I couldn’t get the bokeh effect I was wanting. This prime lens has helped me effectively get the bokeh effect I’m looking for in my photographs.

Awesome Lens to create awesome pics great for begginers

This lens is awesome! I’m a beginner and just purchased my first DSLR camera. One of my photographer friends suggested I start out with a 50mm lens. I’m very pleased with my purchase. It’s compact, very affordable, and the photos are incredible!

Bought this lens for my Nikon D7100, which is a DX camera, but this FX lens used on a DX camera is about 85mm and the Bokeh this lens produces is simply amazing ! In portrait photography a blurred background ( Bokeh) puts all the emphasis on the in focus subject, ie: the person your photographing !

To be able to purchase this type and quality of lens at BestBuy was both a surprise and treat! Getting Reward zone points was obviously a bonus, as was the on-sale price. Just do a quick search on this lens and you'll see why so many are saying it is a steal based upon the price. Better than similar lens that are x3 the price or more.

It's a strange lens if you are used to manually adjusting the closeness of an object, but it takes clear, beautiful pictures. You need to set yourself in the area of where the object is and then shoot. Think of taking a picture of a flower, it never moves from the ground, but if you take a picture of a bird and it flies 10 feet away, you need to move. Either way, I purchased the lens for portrait photos, and this is ideal. Plus, it went from $219.99 to $179.99 for one day, so I picked it up. Then back to $219.99 the next day. I have a D3100 and w/b upgrading to a D750 this summer.

I bought this lens for the excellent quality of close up shots per my daughter's recommendation. She loves this lens! It is her number one favorite. I love it also. Works great. Easy to change. Comes with its own protective cloth bag to store but I also put it in my camera bag with my camera and zoom lens.
