This is the first 50mm lens I have. After watching several videos to see if this was the lens for me, I bought it. I thought the quality and the sharpness would be better. But the depth effect is great. You can take beautiful pictures that you obviously can not take with a kit lens.

Very good lens for outdoor potraits. Fast focusing. Do need a polarized though under bright sunlight. Overall wonderful lens

While I'm still playing with this lens it is a good prime lens - the first prime I've owned - and I'm definitely liking the results. Tack sharp!

This is a great quality lens. Had a hard time choosing between this 50mm lens and the 35mm. I'll probably buy the 35mm as well

This lens is very good! It gives great quality portraits for a lower cost.

I pretty much use for most of my photographs. I very seldom take off my 5100. It is a Nikon quality lens.

Bought this as primarily a portrait lens for when space is at a minimum . I am not disappointed with the results or the quality for such a price

AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G is better than I imagined. It is fast and takes an excellent picture. Great for a starter portrait lens!

Great prime lens for portrait,close up. I debated on the 35mm but went with this one. Both are great prime lens and lightweight

Excellent Lens with brilliant sharp photo quality. Best Value for the money. If you are a serious photographer or wanna become a successful photographer, you must have this lens in your camera kit. Amazingly; this lens works with both DX Crop Sensor or FX Full frame camera..so whatever your choice is you are the winner!

I bought this lens a few months ago and have been using it on my nieces as practice. I love the quality and getting great fall pictures!
