So far I liked it due to the fact that it forces me to compose right shots. It would have helped if the minimum distance from subject was little less so I could have used it as a macro lens. None the less this is a good buy for the money I spent.

The 50mm focal length (75mm equivalent on DX format cameras) with a fast f/1.8 aperture allows you to capture stunning images with a shallow depth-of-field, letting your subjects stand out from their backgrounds. NIKKOR lenses that can be used for macro/close-up shooting are indicated by the term Micro in their name. For example, the AF-S Micro Nikkor 60mm f/2.8G ED Macro Lens has a minimum focus distance of 0.60 ft. ( 0.185 m) and a maximum reproduction ratio of 1.0x.
