Wanted a smaller lens for my D300, these are just the right size to carry in my camera bag.

First lens ive bought. Awesome! Just takes a little while to get used to moving your feet instead of twisting the lens.

Doesn't take good shots when too close. Cannot manually zoom out, other than that it's a good lens.

I purchased this lens as it was on sale and needed a prime in the range of 50mm - 85mm for my D750. So far I liked it due to the fact that it forces me to compose right shots. It would have helped if the minimum distance from subject was little less so I could have used it as a macro lens. None the less this is a good buy for the money I spent.

The AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G lens is a standard angle lens with a minimum focus distance of 1.48 ft. (0.45 m) and a maximum reproduction ratio of 0.15x. The 50mm focal length (75mm equivalent on DX format cameras) with a fast f/1.8 aperture allows you to capture stunning images with a shallow depth-of-field, letting your subjects stand out from their backgrounds. NIKKOR lenses that can be used for macro/close-up shooting are indicated by the term Micro in their name. For example, the AF-S Micro Nikkor 60mm f/2.8G ED Macro Lens has a minimum focus distance of 0.60 ft. ( 0.185 m) and a maximum reproduction ratio of 1.0x. Nikon
