Must have in camera bag
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great portrait pics with this lens. The bokeh is awesome. keep in mind this is a fixed lens so you won't be able to zoom in and out. Sharp images but must be a good distance away.

I bought it for bokeh and it delivers
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought it for taking pictures with bokeh. It is a great price point for a Nikkon lens and I am greatly appreciate the excellence of picture quality. It delivers what I got it for. It teaches a lot about photography, frame, distance, point of wiev.

Great affordable lens!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I decided it was time for a 50mm and purchases recently for a wedding shoot I did for a friend. It creates beautiful creamy bokeh and sharp images. Best of all it doesn't cost an arm and a leg. I would recommend to beginner or advanced DSLR users.

Amazing lens
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The reason I love this lens is for the 1.8 max aperture. I find myself shooting in dim lighting situations where I need a fast shutter speed to catch moving objects. Also, when doing portrait work I've found that I get a nice blurred background with this lens too! With this lens I can achieve a great exposure without bumping up my ISO's to a crazy level just to see the image with good light. I like the 50mm lens because it forces me to try harder to get a good crop when I'm taking the photo rather than when I get to the computer and edit! You could spend double the price to get the 1.4 max aperture but I don't think it's that necessary.

Excellent
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought 50mm 1.4, couldn't get a crisp picture to save my life. Bought this lens instead and couldn't be happier. Super crisp images with excellent bokeh. Like others have said, "must own lens"!

Great lens for the price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Cheaper than the 50 mm f1.4 and also sharper due to the aspherical lens element the f1.4 is lacking. Not top of the line, but still a great prime lens for the price.

Crisp Clear Photos
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I think that the 50mm is a fantastic lens to start with. It is inexpensive compared to many of the other lenses out there. This lens packs quite a punch for its price tag.

Solid Prime Lens
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For my first Nikon prime lens this does exactly what I need. It allows me to get a nice shallow depth of field and helps me get more low light pictures without slowing down my shutter speed too much. Well worth the money.

Amazing and cheap!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this lens in store and on black friday/cyber monday sale at $40 off. I was blown away by how beautiful pictures are especially protrait ones taken on my Nikon D90 camera. Considering how old (8 years) my camera is, how low (10, not sure) the megapixel count is, with this lens, it makes it so much more amazing. The only downside is that it becomes like a 75mm lens because my camera isn't full frame so expect a somewhat zoomed effect. Not great for tight spaces or group shots (not everyone will fit in the shot). Overall, I'm happy with my purchase. For beginner photographers like I am, this lens is a must even at full or original price. Don't forget to grab a 58mm uv filter. Got one from amazon.

Nikon Quality
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very good lens, fast f1.8 aperture for low light situations. Be sure to inquire about the difference between FX and DX lenses before purchasing. Nikon website has lots of great information.
