I love this lens. It's my first fixed focal point lens & I have no complaints. I have a 18-55mm, a 55-200mm and now this one. I've had it for about 2 months and definitely use it primarily now. You have to move around a bit more since it's not a zoom lens but its well worth it!! Definitely recommended.

This is a must have lens if you are truly passionate about digital photography. The 50mm lens from Nikon gives you the very best quality images , of course if accompanied by a great Nikon camera I am using it on my Nikon D2X, it works wonderfully and have taken very high quality pictures. Dont forgwt to Purchase a high quality filter to protect your lenses glass!

I got the lens for my brother but I used it in the interim.. it was one of the best I've used so far. I'm just a beginner photographer but I could immediately tell the difference and the ease of taking pictures when you upgrade.

This is the best lens you can have in your collection! The quality is better than its much more expensive 50mm 1.4 brother. The 50mm 1.8G is one of my favorite lenses to use for portraits and more. I would recommend buying this lens with your camera, it's worth the money.

This is my first lense I bought since I got my nikon D5200. Very light, perfect for portraits, and not expensive at all. It will keep occupied while I save for the 70-200mm 2.8...!

In my opinion, better than the kit lens. I bought this specifically for portrait and art photography. You do not have zoom capability with it, but the fact that you are taking a picture closer to the subject will result in a better quality. Highly recommended, not only by me, but by hundreds of photographers (both amateur and professionals), based on extensive research that I performed before buying.

Purchasing this lens when I also bought a Nikon D7100 body, it was the first lens I used on the body. The autofocus is very quick compared to other Nikon lenses I have used. It also produces some of the best bokeh (aesthetic blur) I've experienced. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to get into prime lens or possibly as their first lens. It will not disappoint.

It's a great starter lens for portraits which lets you take amazing photos and close up shots. I am using it with my Nikon D series camera and it works pretty well. Happy with purchase

Nikon 50mm 1.8G is one of the basic yet one of the most important focal size or length in photography. Basically used for portraits, sharp and fast lens. An earlier version of 1.4 G is also as sharp but more than double its price. 1.8G is a must for photographers. I would definitely recommend this to my friends for their photography. Another great thing is that, I'm a bestbuy member and I have the privilege to pay it over time.

Crisp images with nice blurry backgrounds for portraits and tack sharp landscapes. Gave it only 4 stars b/c I think the 1.4 lens would be even better; go ahead and spend a little more money and get that one.
