I haven't used this lens much because I just received it as a gift for Christmas. So far the pictures I have taken are very clear. I am still learning how to use this type lens.

At first I purchased this lens trying to find something that I could take close up photography without breaking the bank and it defiantly got the job done. But the lack of zoom and being a 50mm adjustable lends it made me very limited on the distance I could be from my subject but the 1.8f definitely made up for the lack of focus adjustability

Takes nice portraits. Is a must have in addition to a zoom lens. Having the two lenses will give you the variability you need to cover most situations. I'm using this with the Nikon D7100 and the pics are great.

I debated on which one to buy, this lens or the 35mm. I ended up buying both and I love the way my pictures have turned out. they are sharp and clear. I use for portraits and general shots.

Still kind of new to taking pictures, but this lense is a must have and us easy to use. I'm still trying to enhance my skills but allows almost like a depth effect

Thought about spending the extra $ on the 1/4, but decided to try this one first. Pictures are great, lens is versatile. Definitely recommend.

This lense is perfect for getting sharp portraits with smooth and soft backgrounds, especially with a DX camera body like the D7000. I like the 85mm outdoors, but this one is better indoors at close range.

I bought this lens recently to replace an aging and broken Nikon 50mm F/1.8 D. I never thought that my old metal body D Lens would die, but after loaning it to my apprentice I found out that they do, especially after being dropped. I was on my way to a shoot and stopped in Best Buy for extras I needed for the shoot and thought I'd give this new G Lens a shot. It has been amazing! Same optics as the older (heavier) lens, focuses super fast on both my D7000 and my D610. No errors and great right out of the box. Stop reading this review and go buy it. Simple as that!

This is a great lens for the price. I am a novice still getting use to the whole photography thing but I definitely noticed a big difference in the quality of pictures from my lens that came with my camera.

I bought this as my first prime lens. I have a few zooms but wanted to add something to use more for portraits. I shot senior pictures with it and had great results.
