Customers are saying
Customers are pleased with the camera's quality, ease of use, and affordable price. Many also appreciate its lightweight design and the inclusion of Bluetooth connectivity. While some found the size a bit large and auto focus speed could be improved, the positive feedback on image quality and user-friendliness outweighs these minor drawbacks. The additional lenses are a welcome feature for many users.

Picture quality
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I also own a d5000, The quality of the pics from the 3400 dose't even come close. I returned this camera and purchased a D7000 body only for the same price.

Good starter kit!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been using a mirrorless system (Samsung NX300) for the last few years and I like it, but now that it appears that Samsung has discontinued the line I wanted to get back into Nikon. I used to have a D40 and some lenses, which I sold a few years ago, and I miss it. This is a very good bundle for someone starting out- you get the camera and two lenses to start! The camera works well, focus is fast, quality is quite good, and it's easy to learn. My only complaint is that there is no sensor cleaning built in, which is important, because over time your sensor WILL get dusty, especially if you change lenses a lot. Four stars for the camera! The 18-55 kit lens is excellent, It's small and light and covers a very usable range, and the pictures I took with it came out excellent. Five stars for this lens! The 70-300 lens is a bit of a disappointment as it does NOT have Vibration Reduction (VR). Unless you use a big flash or take pictures outside in bright sunlight you will need a tripod to avoid blur. With a flash and tripod the picture quality is very good. It's extra disappointing because at 70mm it makes a good portrait lens with good bokah, but a tripod is a must which cuts down on usability. Three stars for this lens. Overall four stars for the kit, it's a good starting point for the new photographer at a great price, but the 70-300 lens probably won't get a lot of use and the lack of sensor cleaning is a concern.

Memory Card Cannot be used
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Was very happy to see this camera on sale and instantly jumped on it. Just got it today. And cannot use it. As soon as a powered it up, All i get is an error message, "this memory card cannot be used. Card may be damaged. Insert another sd card." I thought ok maybe, the brand new 128 GB Sandisk Extreme card i purchased is faulty. No, not the case. I have formatted the card, Made sure there is no dust on the card or in the card slot, tried different cards. Nothing. I managed to get it to work for a bit, then after about a minute, back with the same error message. So i guess i just bought a 500$ paper weight.

Posted .The D3400 takes standard size UHS-1 type SD cards. Using a micro SD card (in adapter) or a UHS-II type card is not recommended. A list of cards that have been tested and approved for use in the D3400 can be found here: https://www.nikonimgsupport.com/ni/NI_article?lang=en_US&articleNo=000030785 . Love it!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just purchased it yesterday...but so far...I love it! I’m looking forward to learning all about this camera. In the mean time...I’m taking pictures of everything. Seems pretty easy to stream pics using the Snap Bridge app and the Nikon Images storage app. I use to own a Canon Rebel about 8 years ago. I definitely love the Bluetooth capability for transferring pics. I’m imaging all the beautiful sunsets I will be capturing with this camera. Let the adventures begin!!
