    • Camera Model Family: Nikon D3400
    • Digital Camera Type: DSLR Camera with Lens
  • Imaging
    • Image Sensor Type: CMOS (CCD and CMOS are the two main technologies used in image sensors. CCD, the older of the two types, turns analog light signals into digital pixels. This conversion happens without distortion, resulting in high-quality images. Newer CMOS sensors use transistors at each pixel to move electrical charges. CMOS sensors are typically less expensive, but also require more light to create distortion-free images.)
    • Image Resolution (Display): 6000 x 4000 (Refers to the number of pixels, both horizontally and vertically, used to either capture an image or display it. The higher the resolution the finer the image details.)
    • Zoom Capability: true (This function allows for magnification of the subject.)
    • Low Light/High Sensitivity: true (High sensitivity digital imaging devices are designed to work in low light conditions to produce a high dynamic range image.)
    • Image File Format(s): JPEG, RAW (Standardized software format(s) of storing digital images. The type of format chosen for capturing and compressing the image can determine quality, level of detail, and storage space required.)
  • Focus
    • Autofocus: true (Allows the camera to automatically focus through the lens, rather than by adjusting the lens manually.)
  • Exposure Control
    • Shutter Speeds: 1/4000 to 30 sec. (The length of time the shutter remains open when the shutter release is activated, expressed in fractions of seconds. The longer the shutter is open, the more light that is able to be captured by the camera sensor.)
    • Minimum Aperture: 38 (The smallest opening of a lens, typically expressed in f-numbers. The larger the number, the smaller the aperture and the less light that can enter the lens. A smaller aperture creates a larger depth of field, which keeps both foreground and background in focus.)
    • Maximum Aperture: 3.5 (The limit to how wide a lens can be open, typically expressed in f-numbers. The smaller the number, the larger the aperture and the more light that can enter the lens. A larger aperture creates a shallower depth of field, helpful for keeping subjects in focus and blurring background details.)
    • Minimum ISO: 100 (ISO is the measurement of a camera image sensor's light sensitivity. When there is plenty of light, using the lowest ISO setting available will typically result in a higher quality image.)
    • Maximum ISO: 25600 (ISO is the measurement of a camera image sensor's light sensitivity. In low-light environments, using a higher ISO setting helps to capture a sharp, bright image.)

Q: I am a beginner.I want to purchase either D3300 or D3400 as my first DSLR,the feature look almost same. So can you suggest any major advantage that I will have as a beginner if I go for D3400?D3400 doesn't have headphone socket,so how is the audio quality

A: The Nikon D3300 and Nikon D3400 are both good choices for beginners as each's offers an on-camera guide mode. This mode actually teaches you how to take a great image and will let you know what options are best for each subject. An advantage that the Nikon D3400 has over the D3300 is that it offers Bluetooth connectivity to any compatible smart device running the Snapbridge app, so images can transferred effortlessly. The D3300 has WiFi but needs an optional WU-1a Wireless Mobile Adapter accessory to transfer images to a compatible smart device. Both these cameras offer 11 autofocus points and 5 frames per second for continuous shooting as well as a built-in monaural microphone with adjustable sensitivity for perfect audio quality. If you want to learn more about the differences between these two cameras please contact Nikon Support.

Q: I have never had a camera of this type and wanting to purchase one i can use to shoot wildlife photos...deer, birds, etc. Would this be a good choice for a beginner with no experience. Im not wanting to spend a ton of money either.

A: The Nikon D3400 DSLR camera has a variety of options to help the user get amazing images effortlessly and is designed with beginner DSLR photographers in mind. One helpful option on this camera is Guide Mode. This mode helps you choose from the most frequently-used and useful functions to get a great image with automated help from the camera. It also provides you with more advanced choices so, once you are more familiar with the settings, you can try out different features. Another is to place it in Auto Mode (green camera icon). This mode will allow the camera to automatically analyze the subject and select the appropriate shooting mode when the shutter-release button is pressed halfway down. The available scenes that this mode chooses from are Portrait, Landscape, Close up, Night Portrait, Auto, and Auto (flash off). Along with these two modes are many others that can be utilized once you are more familiar with the camera. This camera comes with two zoom lenses so you can get sharp and vibrant images of wildlife from afar. To learn more about what this camera can do, please contact Nikon Support.

Q: Should I get the zoom lens or a prime lens? Which is better ??

A: This Nikon D3400 DSLR camera comes with two zoom AF-P type lenses. The AF-P DX 18-55mm G VR lens and the AF-P DX 70-300mm G ED lens each offer beautiful clarity and sharp precision, even in low-light situations. The 18-55mm is ideal for wide-angle shots, portraits and fast action while the 70-300 super-telephoto zoom lens is perfect for sports, wildlife and landmarks. Either of these two lenses can be used to provide brilliant images. A prime lens is also a great idea to add to any growing camera case. A great starter prime lens to add to this D3400 two-lens kit would be the AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G Standard lens. The 35mm provides portraits with softly blurred backgrounds and excellent low-light performance.

Q: Does this camera have a rechargeable battery?

A: Yes. The Nikon D3400 DSLR camera comes with, and uses, a Nikon EN-EL14a Rechargeable Li-ion Battery which can be charged externally with the provided MH-24 Quick Charger.

Q: I am looking to buy a camera with video as well, I just wanted to make sure that this camera would have video. If not, can you please direct me to one that does. Thank You!

A: If you're looking for a camera that can create videos this DSLR camera kit is the perfect choice. The Nikon D3400 DSLR camera can record amazing movies in 1080/60p Full HD and comes with Nikon's all-new AF-P DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR lens. This lens is designed with a stepping motor to provide smooth and quiet autofocusing, so only the sounds of the moment are recorded.

Q: I am looking for a camera to take some photos of my boys while playing sports. We are inside and out with them playing soccer, football and basketball. Would this camera be a good purchase?

A: The Nikon D3400 DSLR camera is great for taking images of your children playing sports. There are many options for getting awesome action images with this camera. One easy way to get beautifully sharp outdoor sports images is to place the camera in Sports Mode. Sports Mode has settings that are pre-adjusted; all the user has to do is simply place it in mode, then point and shoot. This mode is easily accessed by using the mode dial on top of the camera. Inside sports require that you change some of the settings, as there may be a variety of different lighting situations that can affect the images overall, but this camera is very user friendly and provides amazing images when settings are adjusted correctly. To learn more about what settings will help you get the most out of your camera for sports please contact Nikon Support.

Q: Can you add an external microphone to it?

A: You can if you get an adapter

Q: Is this camera Wi-Fi?
