It was easy to start using the camera. Pictures I have taken have been very good...in my opinion. It has an automatic mode as well as manual. Still need to learn about all the features on the camera

I love this camera. This was the first camera that I purchased for myself that was a good, reliable camera. This camera came with two different lenses and they are both incredible. The bigger one is by far the best just with the ability to zoom in as close as it allows you. The quality of pictures is incredible and what I love the most about this camera is if you are a beginner and new at pictures it has different options that will help you take the picture that you are trying to capture. Almost like prompts that will set the correct settings for you so that you get exactly what you are looking for. I love that, it really helped me when I upgraded to another camera, I learned so much about settings with this camera. Worth every penny.

I'm new to the DLSR world and while I am super eager to learn, I didn't want to dive too deep and get a really expensive camera. This Nikon has so much functionality and yet it's fun and uncomplicated to use! I have had a great time just playing with features, without having to spend a lot of time reading about how to use it. I totally recommend for anyone trying to break into the digital photography world.

I bought my first SLR camera, a Mamiya Sekor 1000 DTL, while on R&R in Hong Kong in 1969. Later, my first digital camera offered a whopping 1.2 MP of resolution, woo hoo!. Unfortunately, even for an amateur like me, the resulting digital pictures were seriously inferior to those taken with film cameras. In those days digital cameras were slow and offered neither the feel of nor the features available on film cameras. They were of little use in low light, and prints larger than 4x6 were always pixelated. Years later, having upgraded to a Canon SX20 12.1 MP digital that actually felt like an SLR and produced pictures as good or better than film, I still found myself missing shots. Even with 10x memory cards the camera, snap to store time, was just too slow. More often than not I found myself snapping shots with my cell phone, and usually ended up being disappointed with the results. Yes, I had to spend a little more to step up to this level but today I find the Nikon D3400 has the feel of, is faster than, and offers print quality superior to my old SLR. It took me almost 50 years but except for the fact that it is now digital, and not as convenient as a cell phone, I finally got back to where I started. I am once again the proud owner of a fast, high quality, full featured, interchangeable lens, single lens reflex camera. I would recommend the D3400 to anyone who is ready to put down their cell phone, "up their game", and get serious about their, "amateur", photography with a real camera.

Being an amateur photography enthusiast personally this camera suits my needs very well. I spent good time reading hundred's of reviews on all DSLR's in this price range. The stability of this camera and robust body gives you a care free sense to use the product and ease to take good picture. I have been using it for couple of weeks and I'm enjoying my experience with it.

Used a 35mm SLR many years ago, but this is first DSLR I have used. Very pleased with the ease of use. Still learning all the functions, but picture quality is outstanding.
