I use the Nikon D7200 mainly for wildlife photography. Very pleased with the flexible control, photos, and overall results. Simply put, an excellent camera! I included the photos below, taken with the D7200.

I had to buy a new camera after my D7000 was stolen. The D7500 did not meet my needs so I purchased the D7200. My new D7200 is a big step up. The RAW images have so much more information and it is very fast. And the miniature function is fun.

I spent weeks debating whether I should get the D7200 or D7500. Ultimately I chose the D7200 because at it’s current price it is a steal. It has fully met my expectations and I have not given the newer D7500 a second thought. I hope to be using this camera 20 years from now.

    Awesome upgrade from D7000

My previous camera was a Nikon D7000. I passed on the D7100 but couldn't resist the upgrades found in the D7200 from the 7100 or especially the 7000. If you own the D7000 and are on the fence, buy the D7200. If you have a D7100, you'll notice a few improvements, one of which is significant, but whether it's enough of an upgrade will depend on what you shoot and how hampered you are by the small buffer. Here's what I consider to be the significant gains over my D7000 with my new D7200. MUCH larger buffer for more continuous shooting in RAW. 1.3 crop mode that provides 'reach' and a (1) fps frame rate increase. A quieter, less mechanical feeling shutter with less associated vibration. A lock on the metering adjustment dial. (Really needed that!) Bracketing that allows for 9 frames of variation instead of just 3. A significantly improved autofocus module that tracks moving subjects better and will practically see in the dark. Lack of an anti-aliasing filter for incredible detail. A much higher ISO range with similar or less noise. A functional 'Effects' addition that has proven to be quite fun. A slightly better grip. NFC wireless capability (haven't used yet but I intend to soon) Even better battery life (like the D7000 needed help in that area) Much of the rest is the same but the list above were the selling points for me that have proven to be significant improvements to my shooting experience. The resolution of this thing is almost shocking. I have some pretty good glass and this camera will make the most of it. One of my lenses that I considered to be slightly above mediocre on my D7000 is tack sharp and stunning on the D7200. Very impressive. I'm thrilled with this camera and have found in it something that I think is a little future proof. I don't want or need more resolution - 24mp is WAY enough. It shoots fast, is great in low light, tracks moving subjects with ease and has a buffer that can keep up with what I shoot. If a D400 came out today, I wouldn't be interested. I was hoping for one since my D200 but the D7200 has everything in it I wished for in a D400.. but with less (assumed) cost. This is a lot of camera for the money. You won't regret it. Get one.

    Best DX Camera for Enthusiast

I have used Canon 70D and Nikon D7100 before. Personally, I really love my Nikon D7100 that's why I upgraded to D7200. I know it offers WiFi and NFC but those are not really the main reason for me to pick this DSLR. Before I bought this, I considered Canon 7D Mark II and Nikon D610 (Full Frame). I am not really an Wildlife or Sport photographer (though sometimes I have to take picture with some active kids); I mainly take still picture. That's why I did not pick up the Canon 7D Mark II. Nikon D610 really got me as a Full Frame DSLR because all my lenses are FX (Nikkor 50mm 1.4G, 85mm 1.8G) but I consider it as a low-rank Full Frame. Back to D7200, the buttons are well placed. Nikon also put a new modern-like Info view in this D7200. The camera is exactly the same built quality as the D7100 but don't be fooled by that. One of the big advantage of D7200 is the new EXPEED 4 which produce really wonderful images. Most of the time, users take to much consideration on the ISO and FPS and underestimate the processor. If you have D7100, you will be amazed by how sharp and colorful the D7200 can offer. This D7200 is really the highest image quality at an affordable price. ISO performance is also great, there is really no noise if you shoot at <3200 ISO (during daylight). I took a test in my room with my light on (not too bright) at 16000 ISO, the image is absolutely usable. One of the downside right now really is -- this camera is too new. There is no RAW support in Lightroom 5 now. However, you can download Nikon Capture NX-D for free and convert RAW files to TIFF (16 bit) and import it to Lightroom. Generally, I really satisfied with my purchase and highly recommend those who want a high quality DX DSLR.

A good entry level pro camera but does not compare to the FX by a long shot for anything but telephoto. Need this dx for telephoto pics.

This is my 4th Nikon DSLR. I started with a D70 in 2005, and progressed through a D90 and a D7000. This model feels more nimble (focus, responsive menus). It is smarter (e.g., automatic minimum shutter speed for Auto ISO, WiFi/NFC). It takes sharper pictures (no AA filter), and better videos (higher limits on durations at HD, stereo sound, etc.). I can get much better results in lower light. My D7000 seemed to fight me on getting the right exposures, but this one is on the money. I don't really need all the additional pixels - these just take more storage for what I use them for - but it doesn't hurt to know I can go big if needed, although I pay the storage penalty for raw files. I really appreciate the mode dial lock - I could have used this feature to avoid accidental mode changes more than a few times on my previous cameras. Button layout changed just enough from the D7000 to mess me up in the short term - but I will get used to it soon enough.

The D7200 is an update to the D7100, and it brings a few improvements, like NFC and WiFi, a slightly faster CPU, better image quality, 20 megapixels. It has good battery life, and it can even record 1080p video at 24fps. This camera is better than the Canon 7D Mark II in terms of still image quality but doesn't compete with the video recording capabilities of the 7D Mark II. That being said, this camera is similar to the pro level D810 but with a smaller sensor, and is recommended for people who want to get a pro level camera at a more affordable rate than buying something like the popular Rebel series.

I debated between going full frame D750 and the D7200. As much as I wanted a full frame FX body, when I thought about my use, and pro and cons, I chose the 7200 with intentions of using the money saved to replace my old 80-200 f2.8 zoom. The AF system on this camera is so superior the D90 it replaced, I have found it not necessary to replace that lens. The image quality, color balance, and high ISO is noise is such an improvement over the D90 as well. I shoot a lot of youth sports, and this camera is letting me shot ice hockey at an ISO of 2500-3200 range with minimal noise, and the FX crop factor still lets me cover 3/4 of the rink. FPS is great, and I am even knocking it down to continuous low at times. I have used the wifi capabilities to transfer into an iPad on the road, then share images, something i never intended to do, but now that I have it, is great. I also used that as a remote shutter release, doing some landscape stuff as well. Used with the Expodisc 2.0, white balance at the rink has been spot on. Only regret is giving up the FX sensor, but that is not a fault of the camera, a choice I have made, and not a big regret at all. Money saved can still go towards new glass. I used to shoot professionally, and if i was today, this camera would be there in my bag.

There has been a lot said about this camera, so I won't go into the details or specs. If you have handled or used the D7100, then this camera will feel very comfortable - you could say identical. Same form factor, same layout. I do appreciate the larger buffer capacity, but I rarely had a problem with the D7100. The camera has some new features and upgrades, most notably the wi-fi and Expeed 4. If you have the D7100, I would skip this upgrade and wait for the D7300 or go for a FX variant. If you have the D7000 or D90, then go for it. While the D90 is a great camera and still used by many; the D7200 is an upgrade worth the cost. I bought this camera with the 18-140mm Nikkor lens and it makes for a good walkabout combo. For most purposes, this combo provides great pictures, is light enough to carry around (not saying it's a light camera/lens combo), and it will last you awhile. For most photographers, you won't outgrow this camera. Highly recommended.

So far I am very impressed with this camera, it works great and has many functions, that I am still learning. I started with and Nikon d3200 and jumped up to the d7200, definitely not a beginners camera. The WiFi feature is awesome and connects right to my iPod with the Nikon app, no need for a remote picture taker and I can easily copy photos to my iPod to share right away, when away from my computer.
