If you want to make coffee at home, you get a coffee maker. If you want to make coffee at home almost any way you want, and size you want, you'll want to get this Ninja coffee maker! From being able to brew from a just a single cup all the way up to a full 10-cup carafe, having the ability to choose is great! I, myself, do not drink a whole lot of coffee, but do like a cup of iced coffee every once in a while. I had only been making coffee at work with their single-cup pouch system. I'd been thinking about getting something for home, but really didn't care to get a single-cup only maker then pay a premium for the single brew cups along with the extra waste associated with them. When I saw this one, I knew this is what I really wanted to get. You turn the dial to select the size you want to make and place in your corresponding cup (on the fold-down cup shelf), travel mug or the carafe. Then add the needed amount of coffee using the included scoop (which stores in a "groove" on the left side) to either the included wire-mesh filter (or you can purchase and use #4 paper cone filters). Fill the water reservoir to the matching line, then choose Classic, Rich or Over Ice (which will be one of the most used buttons for me). When making Over Ice, you fill your coffee vessel full of ice, and it will use the amount of water it needs based on the size chosen. So far, which may just be the coffee I'm using (or the fact I've only made it over ice), it seems to be fairly strong even with the lower amount suggested of coffee to use (which is fine with me). But it still does make some great iced coffee. It does have a clock and the ability to set up a delayed brew, but I probably wouldn't be using that (the ice in my cup might melt waiting overnight :) There's also a slide lever on the brew basket serving as a "Drip Stop" which is great for those who want to get a "head start" cup while brewing using the carafe. I mainly use it to keep it from dripping after it's done and I've removed my cup (to keep from making a mess when nothing is left there to catch the final drips). The intelligent warming plate turns on when you select the Full or Half Carafe of Classic or Rich brew. It will adjust the temperature to keep from burning the coffee. And I like the built-in frother attachment, which swings around the back left out of the way. It works quickly and quite well, even with skim milk. It detaches easily after use so you can clean it off, then put back on and hide it. I've also tried making an iced-blended coffee drink (similar to one of those at one of those coffee stores). That's where the Specialty Concentrated function come in. For that, the instructions say to go ahead and put in the desire amount of ice in the container you will be brewing into, which I use the single cup from our Nutri Ninja Auto-IQ blender. Brew, add additional ingredients, then blend. Nice little treat at home for a whole lot less! So far, so great! I will eventually try making some other types later (cappuccino, lattes, etc.). The Quick Start guide has a few recipes for some "fancy" coffees (the Mexican Spiced coffee has caught my eye). Enjoy!

I've got a house full of coffee drinkers and coffee lovers, so several perspectives are reflected herein: Kid #2: loves to try new recipes and flavors/varieties, loves technology and gizmos- loves this coffee machine!! Has tried multiple recipes- cold & hot brewing, frothing, etc. and has yet to find an outcome she didn't like. Loves the flexibility of sizes and features. Partner: loves coffee, always needs it right now! Has very little patience with settings, adjustments, serving sizes, etc- just wants coffee NOW! While appreciating the features that some level of patience and learning may provide, that patience and learning may or may not ever materialize Me: Just drink simple coffee- got this to impress my other coffee drinkers- see above, clearly a mixed bag. Other notes: the unit is a bit larger than I first thought online- i.e. it takes up a bit more real estate on the counter than I'd anticipated. The build quality and materials are a bit less than I'd expected for the price point and/or what I've seen from cheaper options (admittedly, with fewer features). If you want to be a barista, there may be slightly more expensive and durable options out there. If you just want coffee, there are certainly better built, more focused machines out there. This unit will fit the bill for some, but make sure you know what you're getting!

    Awesome Versatility

This coffee maker by Ninja offers the ability to create many varieties of coffee drinks in several serving sizes, offering incredible versatility from a single appliance. Serving size choices include full carafe, half carafe, multi-serving travel mug, travel mug, and single serve. There is a convenient scoop nested in the side which can be used to quickly measure the correct amount of coffee for each serving size, and the removable water tank holds enough water for a full carafe or several travel mug sized servings. A rotary knob on the face of the unit allows selection of serving size, and pushbuttons allow selection of brew type. These include "Classic," "Rich," "Over Ice," and "4 oz. Concentrate." While the concentrated brew function is not espresso, it does provide a strong bold base for espresso-type drinks like cappuccinos and lattes. The built-in milk frother, which swings out from the side of the unit makes frothing hot or cold milk a snap. It is operated by a momentary push-button switch on top of the frother's arm. Other worthwhile features include backlighted buttons, knob, and labels, a red danger light which is displayed at the front of the hot plate whenever the plate is too hot to touch, an integrated clock with a delayed brew function, a fold-down rest for single-cup brewing which places the cup closer to the brew basket to prevent splashing, and a "Drip Stop" feature which positively stops the flow of coffee allowing one to pour a cup mid-brew without making a mess. Also included is a gold plated permanent filter which works well with even the finest grinds and eliminates the expense of purchasing paper filters. #4 paper filters can also be used. With this product, Ninja is offering a coffee maker which offers single-serve convenience without the ecological damage caused by the disposal of used pods, along with the flexibility to brew as much or as little coffee as you need for the occasion.

    Subtle Changes But Improved Performance

We got this model as an upgrade to the previous Ninja model that brewed single serve beverages (basically this model but without the capacity to brew a carafe's worth of coffee). The drip stop on the model we replaced was just a stick lever that was moved from side to side to stop the flow of liquid. However, because of how thin it was, it broke off. This new model changes the drip stop to ensure this doesn't happen by making the switch much thicker ans sturdier. Similar to the previous edition, the machine provides the option of brewing single mugs to travel size mugs that hold multi-servings. One difference between this model and the previous is that the 8 oz "Cafe Forte" option is gone. I don't think this poses as a big an issue to most, since the brewing performance in this model has improved. In the prior edition, it seemed that liquid barely dripped through the filter and I found that many servings brewed weakly, even in the "Rich" brew setting. However, I've found that this edition really does a good job of extracting as much out of the grounds as possible. The strength of each brewed cup has definitely gotten stronger and I find that I no longer need to brew multiple cups per day like I did before. One thing to note, when brewing my preferred "Rich" brew cups, unless you drink your coffee quickly, I tend to find that the cup gets a bit sludgy towards the bottom. The introduction of the full carafe brewing option is welcome and surprisingly fast. It does take a while to get the water up to temp, but I wouldn't say much longer that the normal cups, which I found impressive. Once the water is up to temp, it's almost a steady flow of coffee from then on and a full carafe is ready in short time. We used to have a separate 4 cup machine to use when we had company over to brew more than a cup at a time. Now, we only have to rely on this new model for all of our needs. I would definitely recommend this model to anyone.

    A little bit of everything

This coffee maker combines a regular coffee maker, with an espresso machine, and a keurig, and it's not all that bad at any of them. As a regular coffee machine, it does everything you'd expect, with the added bonus of being able to heat the water almost instantaneously, so it will make a pot a bit quicker than your basic coffee machine. As a single cup coffee maker it also performs very well. Maybe not as quick and simple, but you're getting the advantage of more control over your coffee, and saving money and waste by not getting those pods. You're still getting a nice hot fresh cup of coffee in under 2 minutes though. The espresso part of this machine fakes it a bit, where it just makes a very concentrated cup of coffee, and you can add foamed milk to it. If you want hot foamed milk, you have to microwave it first. So maybe not as genuine or as integrated as a full cappuccino machine, but it still makes a good cup of caffeine. Being able to make iced coffee is nice... all you have to do is fill your cup up with ice and the machine adjusts it's brewing to compensate. When it was done I had a cup of fresh brewed ice cold coffee, was really nice (on a particularly hot day, you may still need/want to add more ice after brewing). The water tank comes off, which makes refilling easy. The hot plate is "intelligent" to avoid burning your coffee, and includes a helpful indicator when it's a hot. The measuring scoop is very handy since it includes guides on how many scoops to use for any given cup size/setting, but you will probably need to experiment a bit with how much grounds to use and which brew setting to get your coffee just the way you like it. This coffee maker is a bit large, and just barely fits under my cabinets. Also when it finishes brewing, it seems to sit much longer than it needs to before beeping done, and I find the beep to be a bit quiet and might be missed (I'm not even sure if it's always beeped). This machine is quick enough though that if you're wondering if it's done, it probably is. And if it's not, it has a drip-stop that pauses brewing while you pour a cup. My biggest complaint is the poor "done" alarm, because it's either not going off all the time when it's done, or it's just so subtle I'm missing it, and I'm taking a star because of that... lots of people rely on that beep to know when it's done.

I'm normally a plain black coffee drinker but have friends that enjoy a nice cappuccino and other dessert style coffees. For those, this is a great system. Very easy to use with clear instructions. For myself, I would prefer an espresso option. There are numerous warnings that espresso style grounds should not be used. I may have to try anyway.

This one gets it right. The unit brings together the best of many of the better coffee makers available. Water reservoir is easy to fill while attached but can be removed to fill at the sink. The carafe is sturdy, easy to handle and pour and best of all, does not leak. Milk frother works as intended and hides out of the way when not needed. Will be getting plenty of use out of it. Highly recommended.

I've had this for a month, and unless it stops working, I am anticipating this will be one of the best coffee makers I've purchased. The main selling point is that it is incredibly well engineered - I've only found two minor issues, which are probably unavoidable (it will splash when you use a low height cup , and it might overflow if you accidentally keep the no-drip switch in the on position when you make your next pot of coffee). And when it is on sale, it is an excellent price point. Ninja is now registered in my head as one of the better brands.

I bought this as an xmas gift for my elderly Mother. She has always been dissatisfied with her coffee makers, but thinks this one is a winner. It just fits under her cabinets, but it does not need to be pulled out to fill coffee or water. Both containers lift or swing out laterally. Amounts of water are clearly labeled on the container and a single cup can also be made without the need for those expensive and wasteful 'pods'. The built-in thing that froths milk or cream is a nice feature as is the handy coffee scoop that clips into the side of the unit. Overall, very well thought out maker.

Disclaimer: I received this item for free in exchange for my honest review of the product. I'm a very frequent Starbucks visitor - like, multiple times a week, if not every day of the week visitor. I also have a Keurig which is nice for when it's just me, and I have a cold brew pitcher for the summer, but it takes a while to make a pitcher. When I got the offer for this guy, I was super excited, especially when I saw it has a milk frother! I can make lattes now (once I get that down, at least)! Using it seems really easy - the "Quick Start" guide that is include seriously makes it as easy as possible to use the machine. There are several size settings, and included scoop for the grounds (which tells you exactly how many scoops to use for what size batch of coffee you are wanting to make), and you can even brew iced coffee (that's the one function I didn't get a chance to try out before writing this review - I only have plastic reusable ice cubes, and didn't get to the store to buy an ice tray yet, but it's on the shopping list!). The Quick Start guide also has recipes for drinks in it :) Overall, it seems like it is a great little machine and a great addition to any kitchen. My only complaints are that my travel mugs don't fit under the brew basket (which is easily fixed by brewing in the carafe, but it'd be nice to eliminate one step in the morning) and the frother could be a little better (I'm no barista, but back in college I briefly worked in a bookstore coffee shop and learned how to make basic lattes, and this frother is a little weaker than the one I used), but except for those minor things, it's a great little machine! I'm excited to have it and experiment more with drinks and flavoring syrups!

So far so good. Made about 3 cups of iced coffee for myself thus far. The brewing technology they used is definitely not a gimmick. The iced coffee to my surprise was the perfect strength and was not watered down by the ice. Everything else is great. The scoop is stored on the side and it's super easy to fill with water and maintain. I do recommend filters simply for the additional cleanup simplicity. The only thing i wish they included was a full recipe book. There is a 3rd party one on Amazon but it is $20 which is expensive. There are a limited amount on the website. Overall it works really well especially for iced coffee.
