    Great All-in-One Though Counter Hog

This Ninja Foodi is an all-in-one cooker device. A pressure cooker, air fryer, steamer, baker and more. The number of different features is great because this Foodi is also on the big and heavy side. With the space it takes up on your counter and the heft of the cooker, you're not going to want to move it around much. So, a potential great combo device for someone who regularly uses a pressure cooker and air fryer. A big part of the weight is the smart lid. This is not removable which also means that it's positioning needs to be someplace where you have decent clearance above it. My normal "working space" on my counter is actually too short for this. I can fit a blender and not worry too much because there's enough space to lift the cup off the blender base - so the base can stay in place while I clean things. But for this, just to use it required more space so for this review, I tested things out with this set up on my kitchen island. After a quick wash, did a test pressure cook, then tried out crisping some drumsticks and fries (well, fry shaped chunks of potato). One of the first things you notice in this process is that condensation drips from the top when opened. There's a small cup to catch it, but it's probably a good idea to do a quick wipe with the kitchen towel. When selecting the cooking type, you immediately notice the Foodi family interface, especially if you have a Foodi blender. After using the top slider to choose between pressure/steamcrips/airfry-stovetop, you then use the round knob to rotate selection between the different options under each of the three main modes. For pressure, there's only one option - pressure <cook>. Once things have started, you've got buttons to override the temperature and remaining time. The buttons have a nice tactile feel so you're not dealing with a capacitive touch. Anyone who has tried doing things on a touchscreen phone after washing dishes or while cooking will appreciate this subtle design choice from Ninja. The fries and chicken came out well. I actually ended up doing two chicken runs. On the first, I noticed that while it got crispy, because I left it in the Foodi for a bit after cooking, it seemed to have picked up some condensation getting a bit juicy. I actually like my chicken that way, but my first pass was a bit more than I'd expected. Knowing this, I made sure to remove the fries once the beeping indicated it was done and to cut down on the time I left chicken inside on the second run. I didn't exercise the other cooking modes but have no reason to think they couldn't prepare food as described. The wire stands can hook together allowing you to stage food on two levels, letting you take advantage of the height to cook more things at once. This is a great all-in-one machine. While I think I'd prefer something smaller in my kitchen, I could see it expanding the range of things one could cook tailgating (if you have an inverter) or better yet - out in a camper. My overall rating is 4-stars. This is good, seems to have all the claimed functionality and works great. There are little design touches that shows it's geared towards use in a kitchen, that the user interface was designed as well as the smart lid. I'm holding back the fifth star because while this is a great device, it can be a little much for most kitchens. And while air frying and insta-potting has certainly become a lot more popular in the past few years, I'm not quite sure I'm ready to dedicate that much kitchen space full-time to this one. Yes, you don't need to keep and store multiple lids for the different functions but I've got more non-counter space available than counter space so that wasn't a real plus for me. Also, the power cord is about average length. As long as you're on a typical kitchen counter, it will likely be in reach of an outlet. My island happens to have outlets on either side near the top (out of reach of little hands) so this worked out for me but if your placement is on an island, you will need to be strategic.

Replaced 2 appliances with this and regained some counter space. Size: This unit is 8qt which is 2 more than my existing electric pressure cooker. I thought it might've been overkill, but between cooking an entire banana squash and a veggie soup that would've normally resulted in a surplus of ingredients -- the added space has been handy. Air fryer: I don't know how the smoke is dissipated in this thing, but it's the first air fryer I've used that doesn't smoke up the kitchen. Though the instructions encourage you to flip the food midway, my chicken crisps perfectly each time without flipping. True to it's name, you'll barely hear the Ninja when it's air-frying. Due to the lack of smoke, the loud vent stove can also stay off. Dehydrator: The dehydrator mode defaults to 6 hours at 150 degrees. I expected to have a problems because I over-stuffed the racks with citrus peels, but everything ended up perfect. Again the Ninja was virtually silent throughout the process. Pressure cooker: It seems like the Ninja takes an extra 30+ minutes to release the steam pressure compared to other pressure cookers I've tried. However, this slow venting is probably why it's so quiet and the better seal is also probably why air frying doesn't result in a smokey kitchen. It's has a locked indicator light that lets you know when it's safe to open The unit has a foot which keeps it from tipping while the heavy lid is open. It's actually nicer than trying to find somewhere to set the lid down every time you open the pot. You'll need 14.5" of clearance to fit it under a cabinet and 15" width of counter space. I couldn't find a lot of details on the inner pot nonstick coating, but it's supposed to be ceramic-coated and PTFE/PFOA/BPA free. So far it's holding up, but I've only had the unit for 2 weeks -- so we'll see how it looks in 2 years. If you're only buying this for a specific function and don't think you'll ever use the other cook options, then you'll find a better single-purpose unit if you shop around. This is a Swiss-army knife appliance -- it does so much and it does it all very well -- it just can't be the best in every category. For me, this unit does everything I need it to and it gave me back much-needed counter space. The Ninja Food is a solid contender.

This is an upgrade from our 6.5 qt Ninja Foodi. The fact that we don't have to contend with 2 different lids anymore is great and deserves 5 starts just for that. As for the rest lets go back to the lid...it now has a sliding lock which is much more functional than trying to line up groves to be able to turn and lock the older model lid. My short wife struggled with that. Again...a good improvement. The 8qt now includes a 2 tier rack that separates the food while cooking...this again is a much needed improvement. Now you can truly cook everything at once without having to worry about all of it setting in the water or easily being able to add the quicker cooking foods later. I haven't used the new crisper pan yet, but I do not see any reason why it will not be amazing. Everything about this so far has been great...even the recipe guide is super helpful. There are also recipes on the Ninja website. 5 Stars without hesitation!!! The new 8qt model does all the same amazing things that the original dig with some much needed improvements and more space. The extra 1.5qts makes it truly able to make a full meal for my family of 5. The 6.5qt was just a little bit too small...so far this has been perfect.

Most Fun You Can Have While Cooking Dinner

My wife loves it! Especially because I'm the one who uses it and cleans it up... This is a time-saver for her and it helps us 'share the load' at meal time. So, what's so impressive about this new Foodi? Speed... 3 minutes for a pot of beans is smoking hot fast... (pressure cook mode) and they were perfect! Banana bread in less than an hour? You bet... but I would use 1 cup of very ripe bananas and only 1 tablespoon of sugar - the extra banana makes up for the less sugar... Oh, yeah, add a quarter cup of chopped walnuts... It will result in a, "Wow! I made that moment"... and it sure tastes good. Wanna reduce fat in your diet (or your doctor demands it of you)? No worries - the Air Fry mode is here to help. Frozen fries, just a little pre-heat for the Foodi, in go the fries with a little salt... set the time... it beeps when you need to shake them... and beeps again when they are done... Beautiful! Crispy outside and tender inside and no fat used! It made the best fries from a bag ever. Mandu (think Korean potstickers)... Yep, in 10-12 minutes, you can be munching on crispy hot mandu (steamed is great too) -- try some soy sauce mixed with a little chopped green onion, garlic, some red pepper for dipping or drizzling... And yes, you will eat them all and want more, I can't help that. That's just the way it is. Just one of the reasons I like the 8-quart size so much, well, the size is one, but it's a taller unit. When making smaller recipes, the cooking element in the lid is farther from the food so it doesn't get splattered so much. That makes clean-up way easier. By the way, this unit has a steam clean mode so please don't overlook that feature. It will save you time and trouble. I would recommend the getting loaf pan, the all purpose pan, plus the two wire racks... You can sure do a lot more with these accessories. I'm thinking cheese cake now... I'm going to rummage in the cupboard to see if we have everything to make it... I recommend this product. It is quick. It is easy. The results are very good. And, yeah, it is sort of fun... Actually, it's a lot of fun.

I honestly cannot review this appliance --- It is too big to sit anywhere on my kitchen counter and too heavy to move easily. The instructions in the handbook leave me cold --- not sure I even want to try to use it. It only fits on my dining room sideboard.

I got this as a gift and love it. We've barely used our oven since getting it. A whole chicken cooks in a little over an hour if you count the preheat time. Cakes turn out moist. My favorite is throwing frozen raw chicken wings in and having crispy wings in less than an hour. Changed our weeknight meals. It is huge, but the space commitment is worth it. I'm getting rid of about 5 other gadgets that are not needed anymore. It even has a cool little cup on the side that water from steam runs into when releasing the pressure cooker. My past Instapot was kind of a mess with that stuff.

This machine is what every kitchen needs. One appliance does it all instead of multiple ones I have to get out of storage or takes up space on the counter. It’s easy to use and the cleanup is quick and easy. I also like how I can grill burgers and steaks in it and there is no grease mess all over like other fryers. I like mine so much I bought 2 more for gifts.

I love this instant pot. It is easy to use and makes great food. You can even wash the lid in the dishwasher!!!!! I love that it came with two seals to switch out. The steamer has a cover and it releases on its own by pushing up on a button near the front. No getting burned by steam! I would definitely recommend this instant pot.

After using different air fryers and instant pots, having one device that will do that plus an in-between cooking method is beyond a plus. For the very first meal, I seared lambchops with baby carrots and it was absolutely amazing. Baked salmon was equally impressive and the instant pot functions work just as the standalone version would. I have only scratched the surface with this unit and look forward the ability to cook very different items, like meat and vegetables at the same time! The cooking capacity is ideal for larger meals.

Nice, but has a learning curve

I'm writing this review as someone who has zero experience with pressure cookers, so take it how you will. To begin, I will say that I am overall very pleased with this device, excited even, for what the future holds for my cooking endeavors. However, being unexperienced with pressure cookers, I find that there is a learning curve, and I haven't quite gotten the hang of it yet. I have been using the Foodi for about 2 weeks, and in that time I have yet to produce a fully cooked meal using the pressure cooker setting. I am getting closer, and I can tell I will eventually get it, but this learning period has been a bit frustrating. That being said, I am really liking some of the other modes it offers. In total, the Foodi claims a whopping 14 different cooking modes. However, if you are anything like me, you'll likely only ever use a handful. My most used will probably be the Air Fryer mode. And it works exceptionally well. Everything comes out nice and crisp with little to no oil needed. I have also used the Saute and Pressure Cooker modes in combination to make a one pot spaghetti, and it turned out surprisingly well. Again, the pressure cooker takes some learning and trial and error, but I think I have that one figured out so the next time I make it, it will turn out perfect. Overall, the Foodi offers a great variety of cooking modes, and from what I can tell, it performs well in the ones I've tried. I will definitely have to experiment with some of the others. Which is one thing I like about the Foodi, it offers not just a convenient way to cook familiar foods using familiar methods, but also encourages you to try new ways of cooking, and potentially all new foods. As for the actual product, you can tell right away that it is a very high quality machine. Everything feels really sturdy and well made. There are, however, a few design quirks that I wish it didn't have. First off, this is not a great product for Lefties. The lid opens to the left. So while the lid is open, say when you're air frying something and have it open to stir or mix the food, the heating unit is just inches from your hand. I'm not lefty, but my wife is, and she feels really uncomfortable with the heating unit that close to her hand. She just knows it's only a matter of time before she burns herself. I wish they would've come up with a different solution for opening the lid. The other thing to think about is the sheer size of this thing. It's so big that it's not really convenient to just pull in and out when you need it, so you'll most likely want a permanent spot for it on your counters. Trying to find a spot is a bit difficult though, not just because of it's size, but also how it vents the steam. When pressure cooking, when you are done, it vents the steam pretty dramatically straight up. Ideally, I'd like this to be done under my exhaust vent. But that is right above my stovetop. So I have to decide if I want this steam hitting my cabinets or just going straight up to the ceiling. Not sure what the better option is. Hopefully this doesn't cause issues down the road, but it does have me nervous. Those are probably the two biggest design issues I have with it. Outside of these two issues, it is a really nice unit. The controls are easy to use and understand, and it is really well made. In conclusion, I am a bit torn on this product right now. The main purpose of the Foodi is to be a pressure cooker, and I feel like that has the steepest learning curve, which has been frustrating. However, I can tell that it is a really nice product overall, with just a few design quirks. Given more time, I'm sure I will really grow to like this thing. But right now, it's sitting right in the middle at 3/5 stars for me.
