Nice Compact Design, Fun Indoor Grilling

I found this Ninja indoor grill/griddle to be fantastic. Loved its compact design and robust functionality. The first thing I tried was to make hamburgers and they came out delicious. The interface is simple and intuitive and a very helpful guide is included if needed. I also made asparagus that come out crispy and tasty – best asparagus I have ever had. I did only use the top 3 inches of the shoots and then gave them 60 seconds with butter in the microwave. Transferred to the griddle and they cooked in about 5 minutes at a 350 degree preheated temperature. A design feature that worked nicer than I expected is that the grill opens to a height that fits under your cabinets in a typical kitchen. This is because the hinges are lower and allow the lid to keep lower when you raise it – tip of the cap to the engineers at Ninja. It was 18 5/8” from counter top to bottom of cabinets, still cleared by 2”. I also cooked some steaks on the BBQ/Grill setting and they came out perfect medium. I did like that the grill tilts a little forward and the grease goes into a channel on the front. I have tried other indoor grills that allow the grease to go into a plastic trap under the unit; but I found these units let the grease drip onto the counter when you opened the lid. This unit moves the grease to where it is supposed to go. No smoke or flame, just tasty food. You also can air fry with the included basket and also a flat griddle for pancakes is included. When stored all the parts go right inside the unit – nice. Cleanup is a breeze because all removeable parts are dishwasher safe and/or you can clean them in your sink very easily. I highly recommend this unit.

I've been seeing this thing on infomercials for some time and I finally got one on my table. The first thing I did was throw some chicken on it. Oh my goodness, is that thing easy to use. Clean-up could be a little easier, but I love the mess it makes. Grilled some mushrooms and basically went off script and created some meals not in the accompanied recipe booklet. You get a griddle for the 3 Bs : BBQ , burgers breakfast. An air crisping tray, for those ever loving veggies and hot wings and then there's the grill attachment, for ,well, grilling. Thrwing some well marinated meat on this thing with the timer set, just makes cooking seem like second nature, even for the cullinarily challenged. There are other attachments available, like screwers, veggie tray and pro crispers, but they aren't needed to create a great meal that everone will enjoy. I'm not a big fan of buying DLC( Gamers know) so this loses points for offering something and not having in the box. Other than that, I can't complain about the finished product. It's another solid aplliance from the Foodi family at Ninja. Yes, I'd recommend this to friends and family alike.

    Another hit from Ninja

My first Ninja Foodi was the original pressure cooker and tendercrisp and it is still going strong. As soon as the original Foodi grill came out I got it and as great as it has been, this new one is drastically better than the first one. Besides having more room for cooking, this one is MUCH easier to clean. The original models cooking grate was heavy and a real pain to clean with its deep groves, this model is much lighter and the groves aren’t as deep. The capacity on this one allows me to cook everything all at once compared to the original. With the original I could get 4 burgers max, this one I can get 6 to maybe 7. The addition of griddle and broil with this model adds to the value over the original. The Ninja Foodi XL PRO makes cooking easier, healthier, and faster with multi cooking types all in one.

Ninja Foodi: A Large and in Charge Appliance

Meet your new best friend in the kitchen: The Ninja Foodi Pro XL 7-in-1! It is a great “appliance” for the kitchen. It’s big enough to feed family, friends or just yourself. • The Ninja Foodi Pro XL is great because of it immense size, to cook for families and not so great if you don’t have the counter space. I will tell you, it’s big! I actually moved it and the accessories into the pantry on the lowest rung. It probably won’t blend in a kitchen because of its styling, but I don’t think the Ninja Foodi wants to blend. It wants to make an impression. It is a positive impression though, because of its utility. This XL Pro does not have the temperature thermometer. Only the “Smart” Ninja Foodi products have that thermometer. An easy to read display panel gives you updates that tell you when to place food inside, take food out and/or even turn the food over. The bright blue lettering also displays Preheating, Time and the minutes when cooking. • The basic layout of the 3 plate attachments are as follows: The Grill plate (9”x13”), a four quart Air Fryer pan that sets on top of the Grill plate and a Flat Griddle plate (12” length). The Grill plate locks into place when you line it up on the spring column toward the rear inside of the Ninja Foodi. The Griddle plate and Air Fryer pan actually set on top of the Grill when you cook with them. On the inside of the appliance top, is a special Splatter Shield. It collects the grease and keeps the Ninja Foodi from smoking, especially since this Ninja Foodi is an indoor appliance (indoor grilling). You can cook with the lid up or down, a new feature on this Ninja Foodi. • The 7 functions this Ninja Foodi cooks are: Air Crisp, Bake, Broil, Grill, BBQ Griddle, Roast and Dehydrate. Providing these types of cooking functions can help eliminate the need for other appliances. In the end this will help to free up space for the size of this Ninja Foodi. • Taking into consideration of the size, family meals are easy to prepare. It is recommended that you can cook a “platter of nachos”, or up to “6 steaks (small to medium size),” or 6 pancakes (small or medium sized) or even 4 sandwiches. Cooking these oversize meals in one Ninja Foodi requires less dishes and only one appliance to rule them all. The Ninja Foodi can also get up to around 500 degrees with even cooking on the different plates. Included is a Quick Start Guide with up to fifteen recipes and a cooking chart. • I do want to comment that this Ninja Foodi is loud when it cooks! I mean, you cannot carry a normal level conversation. When cooking, the air inside the Ninja Foodi that is released goes up at a diagonal pitch. The smell of whatever you are cooking will encompass the house. This is different from other Ninja products I own. Those products release the air straight out of the back. They are not angled up and do not make the house smell like the food you are cooking. Lastly the Ninja Foodi is heavy. It is not easy to move around. This has its positive and negative sides. It is not going anywhere once you place it on your counter. Taking it out or putting it away is a bit of a trial. That is really the only negatives that I found. Now on to the cooking! • Air Fryer part I - I decided to use the Air Fryer option for a bag of Tater Tots. The controls are not hard to learn and are very intuitive. Turn the power on, select the mode by turning the dial, in this case, to Air Frying. Once an option is selected you can change the temperature by pressing the temperature button. Then you can turn the dial to a temperature of your liking. Same goes with cook time. Press the Time button and turn the dial to your cooking time. Close the lid and the preheating begins. Depending on what you cook, will depend on how long the preheat stage will be. Three to Ten minutes is the usual time it takes to preheat the Ninja Foodi. The Air Fryer took about three minutes to preheat. Once the tater tots were ready to go in the air fry pan, the Ninja Foodi spells out ready for food. • Air Fryer part II - Once the tater tots were in, I closed the lid and the Ninja Foodi cooked them from 15 minutes. At this half way point (7 minutes), the Ninja Foodi display told me to turn the pan for even cooking. After that I closed the lid and the tater tots cooked the rest of the way. I like my tater tots pretty crispy so I cooked them for another 10 minutes. I opened the lid when the time was 0:00, and the tater tots were evenly crisp and pretty tasty. Everything was evenly cooked. I have another air fryer that cooks tater tots faster, but they are never evenly cooked like with this Ninja Foodi. • Air Fryer part III - After everything cooled off to the touch, I began to clean up after Air Frying. This was a breeze because the 3 plates are dishwasher safe or you can hand wash them. The non-stick surface made it really easy to do. Don’t forget to remove and wash the Splatter Shield. The tricky part is to remove is the grill plate. There is an orange button on the left side of the Ninja Foodi that you press and the grill plate will unlock. It is a great feature because the grill doesn’t move and only comes off when you want it to. • Grill Plate part I – Next up for me was hot dogs. I used grill plate to cook them and selected the grill option from the dial. It took about 5 minutes to Preheat. The Ninja Foodi was done Preheating when the right temperature had be reached. The display told me to “Add Food.” I opened the lid and placed the oversized hot dogs on the grill plate. • Grill Plate part II - I tend to like things crispy or thoroughly cooked. The Ninja Foodi called for 10 minutes but after turning the hot dogs, I only needed 7 minutes total. All I did at 5 minutes was turn the hot dogs. The hot dogs turned out great, cooking well with and no smoke whatsoever! • Grill Plate part III – After the grill plate cooled, I took it off by pressing the orange release button on the left side of the Ninja Foodi. It was easy to wipe the grill plate clean with just some wet paper towels. Then I put the Ninja Foodi with the accessories back into the pantry. The Ninja Foodi XL Pro 7-n-1 is simple to use and gives you great results. You may have to cook with it a few times for the approximate temperature and time to your liking. This is a “big” appliance, but it can replace other appliances leaving you with more storage. Cleaning up is easy with dishwasher safe plates and the non-stick surface for hand washing. All in all, this Ninja Foodi XL Pro is great to have in the kitchen because of its versatility and combinations for cooking meals.

I love this Ninja Foodi XL Pro!!!! It really is an amazing versatile cooking appliance! It was a little bigger than I thought it would be but what can one expect when it can air fry, skillet and griddle all your food…not to mention dehydrate, roast and bake. It can easily hold 4 hamburger patties easily. That’s what I started out with grilling first. It comes with a really nice recipe book with various times and settings for cooking all the various foods. The design is ingenious… It had the main skillet which plugs into the heating source. That’s the base layer if you want to think of it that way… all the grilling is perfect with those perfect grill marks and the fat drips right into a built-in tray. In the marketing material they kept mentioning edge to edge heating which I didn’t really appreciate until I started using it...it really heats evenly and that makes for a better cooking experience as far as all the food getting done at the same time! I love the thought they put into this unit as well. The controls are so user friendly and intuitive. At the end of the drip tray on the base heating layer (the grill) is a handy spout to make the clean up a cinch (or at least as easy as cleaning up hamburger grease can be). The second attachment or cooking surface is the griddle. We made pancakes, and smashed burgers again! Perfect. The third attachment is the air fry basket. The air fry seemed to take a little longer than my smaller Ninja Air-fryer but boy could the Foodi XL hold a lot more. I had fries, onion rings, tater tots and sweet potato fries all going at the same time. I also really liked that the Foodi did a great job with steam and smoke when I used the griddle! Ninja really makes some great products and this is no exception! It also looks great on my counter tops! Sooo much easier than lighting the stove or firing up a pit of coals to grill! Clean up was also really easy. It will take up some counter top space but with the versatility….WORTH IT! Highly recommend!

This is my new favorite small appliance due to the many things this thing can do. I have several Ninja products and they have all been excellent to use and generally easy to clean and maintain. This one is unlike most appliance of this type in that it is fully self-contained. What I mean is that with some of my other small appliances, i have to find a place to store this part and that part and they are separate from the device. This grill can store all of the included appliances within itself and i can store them all together. That is a big plus for me as a guy with several of these types of appliances. I cooked some salmon to try it out. I normally broil it, because of everything that goes into grilling food, but this turned out great. I got my grill lines in the salmon and i ended up grilling some shrimp to go along with it and used one of the recipes that were included in the box. This is an awesome appliance and I definitely recommend it.

Ninja continues it's trend of putting out a quality well-made counter-space worthy unit! I did my test on some pork rib-eyes that I had marinated overnight. I decided to grill them. You set the "function" (Grill), set the temp and time, then let it pre-heat. When it's ready it tells you to add food, which I did. Half-way through the time I flipped the meat, and it came out BEAUTIFULLY. Grill marks, thoroughly cooked, and extremely easy to clean up. We put it to use as well for Thanksgiving to bake our greenbean casserole in a pyrex dish that fit inside. We set it to bake and it functioned just as a regular oven would, just not making the house extra-hot. Again, came out perfectly! Definitely a welcome addition to our kitchen - thanks Ninja for another well-made product!

I have several of the Ninja products as well as other brands. The Foodi XL Pro does not disappoint! It’s very easy to use, made high quality materials, has a feature for every taste and type of food and it comes with really useful features… like a timer that tells me when to flip the food over for even cooking. The bump on the lid is for the fan which I find it funny looking but very useful. Temperature can be easily adjusted, but not once cooked has started. This is perfect for a quick hamburger or salmon dish. Not for large parties… unless you’re will to put some time into it.

I wanted to get a few uses in and try the different features before I left a review to give some details. Since receiving this, it has quickly become my new go to in the kitchen as it does it all. I used the grilling function for both chicken and steak and both came out phenomenal. The chicken breast was grilled from frozen and as you can see in the pic, came out great. Definitely great for indoor grilling. The skillet is awesome also and made smash burgers as well as eggs. Sticking does not seen to be an issue on the skillet and cleanup was simple. As for the air fryer, we used that to make our daughter chicken nuggets and they came out super crispy with no oil used. As for the unit, it does take up counter space but it is worth it as is replaced our old air fryer and can be used for things we do on the stove or in the oven. Cleanup is not an issue. The plates are removable and clean pretty easily. Cleaning under the cover isn’t to bad either. Just be sure to keep the splatter guard on so grease does not come in contact with the heating element. Could create some smoke. Overall, this is a really great kitchen tool and is now my go to when cooking. I wish I would have picked one up sooner.

Wow! I've been a fan of Ninja products for a while now, I've got their awesome blender, an oven that can air fry but this griddle/grill is going to really change our cooking habits for the good! The first night we went simple and tried the grill. Grilling anything indoors is a risk of getting smoke in the house. It was great and no mess at all. Clean up took a matter of minutes and I was able to clean up as I went. So, the chicken was tender, there were no situations where the chicken stuck to the grill, and my favorite part was the ability to pull the lid down while it cooked and kept the juices in. During the weekend we were craving cinnamon roll pancakes and thought they were going to be messy and fall apart. Again, the Foodi exceeded our expectations. They were as delicious as the ones we'd had at a small cafe that we've been dreaming about. We tried them on a normal house pan and the pancake just fell apart. Desserts are a tough feat and the fact that we were able to cook them on the griddle was amazing. In the last few years I've decided to use my stove less to avoid making the house so hot. The Ninja Foodi accomplishes this goal for me and it's easy to store. The only down fall is that it is a little bulkier than I would like but as you can see it is a great conversation starter on our counter. This weekend we're trying steaks and grilled veggies (I can't wait)!

Another win in the family of Ninja products. No complaints so far. I love making wings, fries, grilled chicken and burgers in this thing. I’ve also made eggs and pancakes and they have come out perfect. I want to try to making this recipe for air fried goat cheese balls next. I use this machine several times a week.

Missing thermometer and harder to wash. Other than that, i feel that its more compact than the previous one, and the buttons are so much easier. The open grill feature is pretty cool too. But i gotta admit, i was a little worried about the first time I used it as it smelled like it was burning on “preheat”
