Customers are saying

Customers praise the NES Classic Edition's game selection, ease of use, small size, and the inclusion of HDMI for modern TVs. Positive comments also highlight the nostalgic appeal and affordable price. However, a common complaint centers on the short controller cord length. Overall, the system is seen as a fun and easy-to-use retro gaming experience.

I got lucky and happened to click on this item and it was actually in stock. I quickly put 2 in my cart (one for me, one for a friend) and it took at least 20 minutes before I was able to check out due to the site kept crashing. 3 days later we had them and began playing them. Love all the old school NES games. Sure, the cord is rather short but I ordered a wireless controller from Amazon to solve that issue. With Nintendo halting production, I feel REALLY lucky I got this system at the normal price.

30 classic nintendo games for 60 dollars, it's easy to set up, and small so it doesn't take up much space. Perfect.

Great Way to Relive the Classics

This is a great way to relive the classic NES games I played as a kid. Although I still have my original NES (purchased in Oct 1986), this NES Classic is more readily available, has 30 games built in, and incredibly portable to bring anywhere. Setup is super quick: 1 HDMI cable to your TV, and then plug in the power cord. While I do wish some more games were on it, the 30 here are a ton of fun, bring back so many memories, and can keep you entertained for months.

System works great after two years of ownership. Great selection of classic games with the two controllers being the only complaint because of how short the cords are. You can buy cord extensions but that shouldn’t have even been a problem had the cords been longer from Nintendo. Overall the purchase was well worth the money when you consider its plug & play with a library of games WELL over the price tag.

It was tough to get this item but I was able to purchase online and it shipped to my house. Totally love this little toy. I had to buy an extra controller and two additional extension cables but after that all was good. The unit comes with only one controller with a pretty short cable so it's probably a must to get an extension cable if you want to sit on the couch or some distance from the mini console. After that though it's great playing all the old games pre-loaded into the console.

This console certainly is the "Retro Blast from the Past", as dictated on the packaging. The controller (albeit with its short cord) is a near perfect reproduction of the original in both look and feel. The lineup of games are reallly good, even though a few of the choices were a bit dubious (why Super C instead of the original Contra?), but overall, an excellent list of games that look great on a modern TV - definitely better looking than their Virtual Console counterparts. A pretty good value too, considering that the inferior looking games also available on VC cost more... Just knocking a star off for the short cable, but in all honesty, it makes sense, given that it can also be attached to the Wiimote controller for playing NES games on the Wii/Wii U.

I like this system. Looks just like a small version of the NES. The controller cables are short. I wish the controller ports faced opposite directions because most extension cables have a wii remote hook that gets in the way. I would have liked the system to have expandability in mind. The system is simple to set up. HDMI into TV. USB power is like a phone charger. Plug that in and you are good to go. The games included are mostly all good ones. The emulation of the games are faithful. The user interface for the home menu is nice and simple. Each game has 4 save states, which is plenty for simple nes games. I would wait until they are plentiful and would not pay much over retail. Overall I enjoy it but would not waste the time to bother tracking one down.

This is a nice throw back to a bygone era of simple but effective gaming and a seemingly more innocent world! The set up and navigation is extremely simple. Easy menu of games to follow. Each game varies in quality and enjoyment depending on your own personal preferences; but they each honor the respective original version. Only suggestion would be to invest in controllers with longer leads, if you can.

We have all lived through the hype from this system's initial limited release and now that it's back, I was so excited to get a hold of one. It has lived up to the hype in every aspect with two small annoyances. 1) the cords are too short - which can be fixed with an available extension easily enough 2) it has Super C instead of Contra. This boggles the mind. I really like Super C but Contra was a landmark game and it's also published by Konami who has several games on this system so I'm not sure why it was excluded. Perhaps there are articles out there explaining it. It's still definitely worth getting and best of luck finding a second controller that's not third-party.

Great system to relive nostalgia of the '80's

When I saw this system had the original Legend of Zelda (plus the Mario games), I had to get it. This system was a staple of my early teen years. The games look great and seem exactly the same as I remember them. I have some trouble with getting the controller to respond to my touch as I want it to, but after such a long time away, I probably just need to get used to it. I agree with others that the cord is WAY too short on the controller. I purchased this system for nostalgic purposes and don't have a desire to buy separate accessories just to make it work better. This definitely should have come with cords that were as long as they were "back in the day."

It's a very cool little system. The cord length for the controller is very small, however there are controller extenders. It's definitely worth $60. If you're unfortunate and haven't been able to find a NES Classic just wait. There will be more coming. DO NOT PAY OVER $150 FOR IT! I know a lot of people are dying to get one, and I was too. Just constantly check all the retailers. It took me 6 months to get mine, and it's a very nice system but really only worth $60.

Large selection of games that run smoothly and easily run on newer TVs with an HDMI connection. Would be nice if the cords were longer but I would suggest getting wireless controllers anyway.

Sorry scammers, Nintendo finally listened to its fans clutching fists fulls of money crying out for supply to meet demand. I hope you all choke on your excess supply as we're able to finally get our hands on this without paying your exorbitant fees. I am so glad that I purchased this game. My 5-year-old daughter loves it and it is nice seeing the games I grew up playing. Plus where they are all built in it takes up a lot less space. I am very happy with this purchase. The cord to the controller is a little short so I do recommend buying the wireless controller that also has an extension cord to it then you have two controllers and you have a long enough cord.

Must have collector's item + intro to video games

Of the many mini consoles out now, the NES Classic (and it's older brother SNES Classic) is definitely among the must-haves. The NES Classic is a tiny replica of the NES with 30 pre-installed NES games (that run on Nintendo's own emulator, Kachikachi) that supports modern day screens via HDMI. Strictly speaking, the emulation is not as good as the best modern day NES/FC emulators. However, the differences are not noticeable most of the time. Furthermore, this is one of the most convenient (and legal) ways to play classic Nintendo games without resorting to software piracy or dumping your own cartridges. In terms of gameplay, the NES classic adds quality of life features like suspend points (aka save states). The controller is the identical size as the original NES controller, so playing games is fairly comfortable and the feels the same as the original NES. If you have kids who have never played the NES, this is a great device to introduce classic Nintendo games to them (Super Mario Bros. 3, Legend of Zelda, Kirby's Adventures, etc.). Sans kids, the NES classic is also a great collector's item that preserves a piece of video game history. Nintendo even put downloadable copies of all the game manuals on their website for the NES Classic! (www.nintendo.com/nes-classic)

I love this thing, its so tiny and the game selection is perfect. My biggest complaint is the short cord, you have to get really up close to the tv to use it.
