Customers are saying

Customers praise the NES Classic Edition's game selection, ease of use, small size, and the inclusion of HDMI for modern TVs. Positive comments also highlight the nostalgic appeal and affordable price. However, a common complaint centers on the short controller cord length. Overall, the system is seen as a fun and easy-to-use retro gaming experience.

I was really looking forward to a little nostalgia. This just doesn't cut it. There's a distinct lag which makes it difficult to play. I'm pretty disappointed because it takes all the fun out of the experience and is more frustrating than anything. Not sure why it functions that way.

A Glimpse at What Made Nintendo Great

The NES Classic Edition packs thirty games from Nintendo's 8-bit era into a tiny little box full of nostalgic feelings and simple, straightforward fun. While big names from the past like Sega and Atari have licensed their old products out to third-party companies that deliver questionable game emulation, the games in this Nintendo-made product look and sound crisp, and the hardware responds wonderfully. When you power on the system, you are greeted with an alphabetical and colorful list of thirty games from when Nintendo ruled the entertainment world. Pressing up on the controller's directional pad will allow you to access a limited number of options. Likely the most interesting option is the ability to switch between three visual filters. The CRT filter introduces faint scanlines and muddies the graphics just enough to remind older gamers what it was like to play on the old CRT televisions of the 80s and 90s. The other two filters are 4:3 and Pixel Perfect, both of which offer a clean presentation with slightly different aspect ratios. Each game boots up instantly and has four save slots. Saving is easy and intuitive, and it is quite handy to be able to be able to pick up where you left off. Switching between games is as simple as pressing the reset button on the console to go back to the main menu. The manuals for the games are not included, but there is a QR code within the menu that you can scan and bring up the manuals. There is a URL that you can access, too, if you prefer look at the manuals on a computer. The system is not without its flaws. While the game selection has many true classics such as the Super Mario trilogy and Metroid, your mileage per game will undoubtedly vary. If you are familiar with the NES library, you will wish a game or two that did not make the cut had been included. At the moment, there is no way to upgrade the game library, so for better or worse, we are stuck with this block of thirty titles. The biggest and fairest complaint about this console is the length of the controller cord. The controller is the same size, look, and configuration of the classic standard NES controller, and while it is fun to use that simple controller again, the cord is very short. This can result in the light little console being jerked around, though the console seems durable. While extension cables are available, Nintendo should have known better than to give us such a short cord. It isn't a deal breaker, but it is unfortunate. The NES Classic Edition is what casual and/or retro gamers wanted, and while it is a great product, it feels like it could have been more. A larger game library at launch and a longer controller cable would have been appreciated, but as it is, the Classic Edition is a fun product has something to offer for every gamer.

I purchased the game because it brought back child hood memories. However the game is nothing like the clunky box of fun I remembered. The buttons on the control stick and do not work very well . The game selection is fair . Over all I was and am not impressed.

The NES Classic is a nifty nostalgia piece but the lack of a good game library and short controllers makes the usability less than desirable. Good cheap gift or gift for someone who grew up playing the games.

For this to be worth the money it should have many more games downloaded. Also I bought 2 wireless controllers that seem to have issues unless u unplug the sensor for player 2 until the game u want to play is loaded, then plug in the sensor

Fun to see and play all those old time nes games. Play controllers have different response times, harder to play some games as a result. Also have to reset console to switch to new game which is a little annoying.

The games are great, however, the controller has a delay that makes playing the game sub-par. We've tried googling tricks to fix (changing tv settings and such) but nothing really seems to help on our set up.

I should’ve figured for the price it wasn’t going to be that great. I love the concept that it has all the built in games but It just looked pretty much bootleg!

I hoped for it to have been upgraded to look a little better but it works well. I had to take it back but it was the hdmi cord not the machine so look out for that. Once they figured it out I was good to go.

This was fun for about 3 months and now it won't even turn on. Very disappointed with the quality. It was never even moved from location to location or ever unplugged. Waste of money for us.

This Nintendo retro mini game set came with only one controller. For the price, should have had 2. And the graphics for Dr Mario game is too busy making it hard to look at for very long.
