Customers are saying

Customers praise the NES Classic Edition's game selection, ease of use, small size, and the inclusion of HDMI for modern TVs. Positive comments also highlight the nostalgic appeal and affordable price. However, a common complaint centers on the short controller cord length. Overall, the system is seen as a fun and easy-to-use retro gaming experience.

    It's sort of a NES

This thing is awesome and now it's discontinued. It's unfortunate that Nintendo didn't make more and that scalpers have taken the prices to insane levels. Next up the SNES mini which is even more likely to happen after the success of this machine.

At this price, how can one go wrong -- portability, along with a fine amalgam of features/accessories & games, as well as this unit's 'collectible' potential, all add up to a must-have; Not-to-mention, it is manufactured by the one and only... Nintendo!

    New Classic

I fell in love with the original 1985 N.E.S . When I learned of the (new) N.E.S Classic I researched all that I could. I have to say it Really sounds like this one is going to be a money maker for Nintendo. At $60 with 30 games you can't not buy one.

I'm an 80s kid... these were my generation's video games. The best part is getting to play these games with my 6 year old niece as she's just as enchanted by the NES as I was when I was her age.

When I first heard about this, I got excited. When I learned more, I was disappointed. Yes, this is a nice idea for people who don't currently own any Nintendo hardware. At $60, you get a mini NES, controller, and 30 games, most of which are good. Those 30 games would cost $150 on as Virtual Console downloads on WiiU or 3DS. Add in HDMI output and save states (no need for passwords) and it's a nice deal. The downside comes when you want more games. Nintendo doesn't have any plans to allow additional games to be downloaded. There's also no support for existing cartridges, unlike the mini Genesis consoles that exist. I feel like it's a step in the right direction for Nintendo, but the missing features make this a non-starter for me. Overall, this is probably a good deal for some people who just want to occasionally experience some nostalgia on modern TVs, but if you're a more avid retro gamer, an old NES or clone system would probably be a better alternative.

Great system. Worth it at double the price

To be able to buy a system this inexpensive and play all the classics is well worth it. When I had the original NES I could only dream about a system like this. Even my teenagers like it.

    Worth the Price

Comes with a great base set of games and really easy to add more with the usb. If the controller cord wasn't so small it'd be 5 stars, but the extension is cheap enough. Glad I waited until the restock and didn't pay a huge markup, because the games really aren't that great once you get past the nostalgia.

This little nes is so awesome! Very hard to come across, but well worth it when you finally get one. Great value for its price. Just wish the controller cable was a little longer.

    Wireless Controllers

I love the games selected. However, wireless controllers would have been nice. I would have paid extra for them. I understand it is a plug and play but why not, with technology today, make a system like this that does allow the option to d/l games? I would buy many, many games if this were an option.

Only drawback is availability and cord length but just order the extender and that solves most of the problem. Now everyone just needs to have the option to pay retail for it.

    Great Value and Fun!

For the cost of one average video game these days you can bring back memories and play several of the games you grew up on. Everyone has enjoyed playing old Nintendo games when they come over to my house. I have given several away as gifts and for the money you will be hard pressed to find more value in a gift. Graphics are not the best and you should buy the extended cables for the controllers. All in all even if you just play Mario and non of the other games included it is still worth the feeling you will get when playing a game you grew up on.

Well, if you can get your hands on one, it is awesome! All the games are just as you remember from 1986! Plus, the Wii controllers also work with this too!

Took me back to the 90s, hours of family fun. Opened on Christmas and the family played for hours. Techmo Bowl and Excite Bike, what more can someone want.

This is truly a great product. As a child of the 80's and 90's, I absolutely recommend this to anyone and everyone. The cord lengths are frustrating but Insignia makes an extension cable and the third party controllers have longer cables. Don't let controller length ruin the fun for you, just quit crying and figure out a solution. Games are great. Looks great on my 40" HDTV. HDMI makes me more likely to play this than my old console. If I were going to take a star away it would be due to the availability. If you get one, please keep it and don't gouge anyone. Stay Retro.

For an all in one remake of the original Nintendo system with 30 games installed, I think that they did a pretty good job including the most popular titles... my only addition would have been to include Contra, and Duck Hunt.. Overall, I AM SUPER EXCITED!!!
