Customers are saying

Customers praise the NES Classic Edition's game selection, ease of use, small size, and the inclusion of HDMI for modern TVs. Positive comments also highlight the nostalgic appeal and affordable price. However, a common complaint centers on the short controller cord length. Overall, the system is seen as a fun and easy-to-use retro gaming experience.

What can I say these are the classics of my generation. It is several hours of joy to relive all of these games. This just looks cool sitting underneath the TV. The only problem I have with it was that the included controller was only 3 feet long. Brought back the memories of someone walking in front of the tv and tripping on the chord as you were about to beat a game for the first time. Don't let this hold you back though because a wireless controller for it is cheap!

What more to say... old school game system with a nice amount of old games.. Zelda.. Space Invaders..etc. Only down side is you can't save any game and you have to start over when you shut down the system. Other than that it's a good gaming system.

It's a mini version of the Nintendo from when I was a kid (yes, the 80's - yes, I'm old). What else could you want?! I mean, it doesn't have Back to the Future but that game was impossible anyway. You've got Super Mario 1, 2, and 3 AND Zelda 1 and 2... You're all set for a night alone in moms basement.

A great library of NES games delivered smoothly and with some Nintendo flair. If you know someone who would want to buy a NES and some games to re-live the Nintendo's early years, then this is for them. Do need to buy a 2nd controller though, and the cords are kind of short.

Absolutely enjoy everything about this classic console. The experience is just as fun as it was playing in the 80's-90's but in HD! The cord length and not being able to install other games are my only cons. Love the fact my Mom looked forward to playing Nintendo with me, we had a blast playing Pac Man.

It's better than the original because there are no more cartridges to lose or have to blow the dust off of from the bottom. It's more compact and has the games performance and detail the same. Also true to original is controller use and fit. Way to go Nintendo!

Proof that the classics never die. There has been a lot of talk about the short controller cable, but after playing, I find myself constantly hitting the reset button to save or reload so it totally makes sense to keep the console close to the player. A longer HDMI and USB cable would make more sense.

This is the best throwback to being a kid I've seen in awhile. The best part if my kids now get to play it and love it but without the headache of blowing in the cartridge! :) Just get the cord extenders and a second controller as the cords are short and it only comes with one.

The NES mini is a great system for anyone who grew up playing the NES. The controller is responsive and it has a great selection of games. The only drawback is that some collections are incomplete, such as Castlevania I an II being included but not fan favorite Castlevania III.

This gift was for my son and He loves playing it. The price for the nes classic edition was awesome. For the price the product is well made. He enjoys playing the old time games which I didn't think he would. But he finds them challenging and fun. This is a great product

Though the games included are a bit limited, I've had a blast using this little NES emulation system. The included controller works very well, but the cord is short, so using a wireless controller like the 8bitdo N30 2.4G works extremely well.

Wish this was easier to buy, finally got one and I love it! Just the nostalgia alone is wort it. Can’t get enough of the original Super Mario and the turtle trick still works lol! The new save feature comes in really handy. If you don’t have one, try and get one, you’ll love it!

I'm a bit older so I more fondly remember the classic NES games over the SNES games. So when I heard we'd have the opportunity to buy a NES Classic, I jumped on it. Admittedly, since purchasing the unit I haven't played it much. But knowing its there whenever I get an urge to play the original Zelda or Super Mario Bros for a few minutes makes me feel good. Even though I ordered cord extensions, I wish the controllers were wireless.

The box is pretty small, the graphics aren't the greatest and the cable attached to the controller is pretty short. Despite all of this, it's a lot of fun. My kids love it and I love playing these games and reliving a little piece of my childhood. It's totally worth the price.

An almost homerun concept from Nentendo. Like the retro styling, but they should have included the ability to purchase more games and charged a little more. Something to think about in the next version. Regarding Best Buy's delivery of these units however, I do have a complaint. Bought mine on Nov 11 after waiting in line for approx. an hour. Wanted one for my nephews, so want back to the store to wait in line from 6:30am to store opening at 8am this past Tuesday. When I arrived I was excited to find only 8-9 people in line and figured I had a chance. Then after ten minutes a random store employee, seemingly not in uniform, walked up and told us the vouchers were distributed at 6am. Yet no sign was posted outside the store to let additional customers know that no more vouchers where available, making possible for BB customers to lose a lot of valuable time for no reason. When I asked additional Store personnel why the vouchers were dispersed at 6am as opposed to store opening(as they were on 11/11) the employees stated that was the policy. I find it troubling that the store employee who notified us rather rudely that the vouchers were no more was also very keen on bragging that he had one of the vouchers distributed at 6am. Apparently it is ok for Store employees to have an inside line on product releases. Further confusing was the fact that I immediately headed to another store to find 50+ people in line waiting for store opening at 8am. Which leads me to believe that the fix was indeed in at the first store. If Best Buy cannot manage its policy for product releases from store to store consistently then maybe it should abandon the line-up process all together in favor of some type of raffle system. That way all of the customers would have an equal shot at the new hot product.

I have no complaints about the actual console. All games included run without a hitch. However, the controller that it comes with is extremely short. I purchased an Insignia controller along with it that's 10 feet long. I thought this was the answer to my problem... The Insignia one doesn't work as well as the original Nintendo one, it's hard to switch directions. I heard you can buy extensions so I can just use the one it came with.

I missed this the first time around, and was extatic that it was rereleased. Punch-out, Metroid, Zelda and Super Mario rounded out a great line up. It difficult is getting used to the sensitivity of the controller. It is much less sensitive than say the Xbox one, but is on par with the original. I really wish that there was another controller and the price raised $10-15. If you miss the old days of the new then this could be for you.
