Customers are saying

Customers praise the NES Classic Edition's game selection, ease of use, small size, and the inclusion of HDMI for modern TVs. Positive comments also highlight the nostalgic appeal and affordable price. However, a common complaint centers on the short controller cord length. Overall, the system is seen as a fun and easy-to-use retro gaming experience.

Fantastic product--extremely compact (fits in the palm of your hand!) and an excellent value--30 games (+ machine, controller) for $60...the cost of a single current-gen video game. Third-party extension cables for the controllers are a must due to major design flaw, but beyond this--a great experience!

Nostalgia factor is its biggest strength

The system runs well and the ability to save your progress takes the frustration level down with some of the more difficult titles, though it kind of feels like cheating. The controllers feel like the way they used to with the original system, which makes the experience all the better. 30 games will keep you occupied for at least a few days. You get to own a relic of gaming history that fits on the palm of your hand. Nothing is really groundbreaking with this system, but the nostalgia it brings is really what makes the NES Classic great. I remember playing Gradius when I was a kid until my eyes hurt and wanted to throw the controller at the TV in frustration. It was, and still is, a difficult game. Now I can relive those moments and look back and laugh. This is what you're getting with this system.

The console is packed with great games and features a handy save system. It is easy to set-up and takes up very little space. The controller feels nice but the cord is way too short.

    Flashback to your childhood days

If you want to relive some of the good times you had during your childhood, then buy this game! Even if there are only one or two games loaded on this that you really like, you will still find it a worthwhile purchase. I bought it for the Mario games and I have not been disappointed. They are just as I remember. I will agree with just about every other review out there about one thing, though - the controller cord is WAY too short. Save yourself some aggravation and purchase an extension cord for the controller when you buy the game system. It's relatively inexpensive and definitely needed.

We LOVE this little system. My husband and I like it for the nostalgic feel and my kids love how fun it is! The first day we spent hours taking turns. Definitely worth the price.

I remember getting an NES for Christmas back in the mid-1980's. This re-issue of the classic NES with 30 games brings me back to that Christmas. Many of the games I played as a kid are here from Super Mario Brothers to Excitebike. The graphics and sound are upscaled a bit for HDMI televisions, but this doesn't detract from the nostalgia or playability. I do have 3 cons, however. First, the console only comes with one controller. This seems to be the status-quo nowadays with console systems, so be prepared to buy another controller (if you can find one!). Second, the cord for the controller is only 3 feet long. Plan on buying a Nyko cord extension ($9.99 at most places) if you want to play this more than 3 feet away from the television. Last, Contra was not included in the games. Super C is included (which in my opinion is an inferior sequel), I would much rather have the original game. All in all, a great little system for less than you would spend buying an original NES and all of the separate games.

When I saw that they were creating this setup, I truly was ecstatic but was worried that I would think the games were total garbage since I’m use to the ps4 and Xbox one s. I was dead wrong. I’m never putting the remote down... It’s bringing me back to the 80s wow...

Not only a good piece of tech but includes most of the high point games from the NES era. Having been around during the 80s I can also attest that it seems to emulate the hardware fairly accurately. I noticed the same slowdowns that I had trained myself to anticipate back in the day. It is easy to mod and accepts any title I've thrown at it so far. The main issue that everyone acknowledges, 1 controller with a ridiculously short cord. At least the SNES classic controllers where the same length as the originals, the NES versions are much shorter. Nintendo hardware is just built solid so I don't want a 3rd party knockoff no matter how good those 8bitdo controllers look. Best option I've found is the extension cables but my local store was out of stock. I have original controllers that went through a flood and still work. Nintendo makes their stuff to last. Definitely a must by for any retro junky.

I grew up playing NES with my brother and this purchase brought me right back to those good ol' days. I'm so glad I was able to buy this recently as I missed out on the initial offering from Nintendo when they first released it. Although it only has 30 games, I feel that's still plenty to keep you busy for a long, long time! You're allowed multiple save points for each game which is awesome. Even though the controller cord is short, it's nothing that can't be overcome with an extension cable if it's really bothersome for you. Go ahead and get one, you won't regret it!

Overall I am very happy with my NES Classis. While there are a coupe slight drawbacks: the short cord length and an inability to switch between games without pushing reset, it is not enough of a negative to detract from what a quality product it is. There is an entertaining variety of games, and having 4 save slots per title makes playing through those titles even more enjoyable by being able to pick up where they were left off the last time. I would recommend to old and new players alike.

I waited for almost 2 years for this to become available again. I absolutely love it and it's reminiscent of the originals in a smaller package. I love that the games are pre-installed. Big bonus to the days of cartridges. The only downside is.... having to buy the second controller and it's never in stock. From what I understand, that's not a BestBuy issue but an NES shipping issue because they're rolling these out in spurts. Not cool, NES. Also, who in the heck would give a controller a 3 foot cord? Apparently, NES. I'm not a fan of wireless controllers so I had to purchase 2 packs of 2 extender cords to make the cords long enough to fit across my living room. It's nice that they're inexpensive but, like the controllers, I had to wait for them to pop up to purchase them. If it weren't for the wait to purchase the accessories, I'd have given it a 5 star.

After the initial disappointment in the controller's cord length with the addition of an extension cable, the journey back to watching my now grown up son playing the games he enjoyed as a child brought back some pretty wonderful memories, It was great to watch him relive those moments. It's small but fun and as you all probably know only comes with one controller, but it was worth the wait to see my 40 year old become a little kid again

This has an awesome set of preloaded games. It is the games I played growing up and now I can show my kids how awesome I am. At least I thought I was awesome. The games I used to beat in one life are kicking my tail now. The controllers are awesome but do yourself a favor and buy the cord extender. The cord it comes with is as long as my arm and not super convenient. As a fun side note, my son plugged in his wii controller noticing that the plugs were the same and it worked perfectly. Dear Nintendo, these were a hit. I think its safe to make a few more so we can all have one.

The NES Classic is the Console you wanted in 1992. It’s full of classic games you love, and classics you might not love, but should probably try. The console is sleek and youthful and doesn’t take away from the experience. The graphics look great in any of the multiple modes of display, and the sound doesn’t miss a beat. The controller cord is a little short, but overall the feeling is great. This is a must have for a family that has other games in the home, and a chance to see what predominately 80s gaming is all about.
