Its pretty much like the one included with the system but it adds a charging port, so you can charge the joycons via usb-c. It does not have an included battery as other have thoughts. It isnt meant for that . It works as it should. If your joycons die while your playing a game your can pip them in and hook up the usb cable and keep playing your game. Vs docking the switch and joycons and turning off the system. Overall great buy.
