I bought this together with a couple of wireless controls and one of the biggest advantages is that you don’t need to remove the controls from it to charge since it has and USB connector you can plug to the Switch console to charge them.

Holding the little itty bitty joy con is incredibly difficult for a guy with hands as large as mine... having this makes it way more comfortable to play Mario Kart and other games that require you to actually use the controller.

Better Option than the Pro Controller

The Switch Pro Controller is really solid, but I have to say that I might prefer the joycons attached to the Charging Grip. For Zelda anyway, I prefer the buttons over the D-Pad on the left side of the controller. Just feels better to me. It also keeps those joy-cons charged for hours.

My kids needed another charging grip to replace the wireless one that started not to work the way it should have. This plugs into the Switch and works great!

If you don't get the Pro controller this is the next best thing. It's just like the one that comes with the unit from a size and feel prospective, except this one can charge while you play. The one included with the switch is just a holder and doesn't charge. If you play long enough to kill the battery in the joy cons you need this, otherwise the one that comes with the unit will do.

I hate anything to do with the joy con controllers. They are overpriced and feel funny with this grip. I try to use the joy cons for more than just Mario party, but these just do not feel right for any other game. They do work as they should with no issues. The pricing is insane for $80 joy cons, and $10 for the grips is just plain ridiculous. That's a $90 controller when assembled! My hatred for Nintendos pricing on their consoles, controllers, and games just gets worse with every day. They are trying to compete with top tier consoles Playstation and Xbox with less than half the power is just insane to me. Their overpriced products will be the end of this line trying to compete in a market line way above what they are offering. Get it together Nintendo, be you, not what the competition is. Make your own market and not depend on others pricing to make a profit.

This is what the Switch should have come with.

It's exactly what it says it is. A grip to hold your joy-cons and charge them while you're playing. There isn't a battery or anything like that, it's just a USB-C adapter that will let you charge your controllers. Honestly, like I said in the summary, the Switch should have come with this, but I can see where excluding it let's players decide what they want without forcing them to buy something they don't need.

For some reason I thought it was capable of holding a charge but it's just capable of charging joycon while playing. So have to plug a portable charger or something to charge and play.. Does what it's supposed to and looks kinda cool, handles are see through plastic. Is useful but would rather buy another set of joycons instead.
