Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this before launch with a decent discount, but I don't know if I would have bought it at full price. It's nice to have, but since I always keep my JoyCons attached to the docked Switch, I only really need it for extra JoyCons, and even then the battery life on the controllers is superb. Maybe I will find it more useful later, but for now, definitely not an essential accessory.

It plugs into the USB port on the Switch stand. Would have been nice if this was packed in with the Switch instead of the chargerless grip that came with it. This does include the USB-C cable!

Unnecessary, but better than standard grip

It's just as easy to attach the joy-cons to the switch itself to charge them directly. It comes with a two-foot charging cable, so unless you have a longer cable or can plug it in to a portable battery pack, it's pointless. If this grip had a built in battery I would rate 5 stars.

Nice, But Overpriced
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The charging grip is a nice upgrade for the switch controllers but it is a bit overpriced for the USB-C port. Nintendo should have just defaulted to this for the grip instead of the basic one which came with the system. Wouldn't have bought it to replace the default grip but when getting a second set of joycons it was worth the extra $ instead of buying a second basic grip.
