The controllers work just like before, most systems only have 1 so be sure to check and if so grab that extra controller. I'm only giving it 4 stars because the wire to ENTIRELY TOO SHORT for any reasonable play. It's kind of a cheap way to get you to buy an extender or wireless connector.

This controller brings back memories from my childhood. It works just like the original controller from 1985. It's necessary to purchase this because the NES classic only comes with one controller.

Bought the remastered NES for Christmas and got this remote with it. Both remotes work great! Only complaint is that the NES did not make MARIO two players (not the remote’s fault, though).

Nintendo is known for their quality and this is no different. They tend to be sort of hard to get a hold of but if you get the opportunity and have an NES classic I would suggest buying one.

Must have you intend to have a second player play the NES classic. Cord is short but you can purchase a cord extension or get a long HDMI cable for the TV to bring the console closer to you.

Works just like the originals do. Would have appreciated a longer cable, but I went with a longer HDMI instead so the system could be close by - makes switching games much easier.

it is what it is, an official nes classic controller for the nes classic! nintendo should have included a second controller for this, two players is the only way to beat bubble bobble!

This is the same controller that comes packed in with the NES Classic. Perfect OEM quality and a pathetic cord length. An extension cable is a must buy.

Can't play two players without a second controller. I highly recommend getting extension cables to play because the length of the cables are short. Don't get the wireless stuff either.

I love the classic look. Someone stole our original one that came with the game so when this was out at regular price I was happy to get it. Cable is short bit that's just how it is.

If you are looking for the original Nintendo system, look no further. This is as close to the original that your are going to find. Brings me back to my childhood. Controller cables are still too short so be sure to order the controller extender cables as well. Enjoy!

The NES needs a second controller. This is perfect. Just like I remembered from when I was a kid. You need to buy the extension cords. The 2 foot cord is not nearly long enough.

Bought the Nintendo NES and only came with 1 controller. No big deal. Nice to have something like this system to play a few games with the buds.. sweet!

got the classic but it only comes with one control. so if you want to play two player games, you need to purchase the additional controller. the buttons seem a bit laggy but it could it be that I haven't play nes games for about 15-20 years, so maybe I am not that great.

THIS ITEM IS THE SAME SIZE AS THE ORIGINAL CONTROLLER YET THE CORD IS 4X SHORTER...LAME... AND NO YOU CANT PULL OUT YOUR OLD ONE AND CONNECT TO THIS NEW CONSOLE... LAMER... BUT CANT PLAY TWO PLAYER WITHOUT IT

Great controller just like the one that comes with the system. It also has a short cable so you will need the extension as well to play at a decent distance from the console.

This is a must have for any NES classic owner, the system itself only comes with one controller but the system supports 2 players at once. So make sure you get another!

if you have the NES Classic, this controller is a must have. only downside is the length of the cable. Recommend getting an extension

Definitely needed if you want to play two players on the NES classic. Though you may want to buy an cord extension cable or a wireless controller if you play far from the tv.
