The Nintendo Switch Pro Controller 2 feels amazing in the hands—super comfortable, responsive, and built like a tank. The buttons and sticks are smooth, the battery lasts forever, and gameplay feels way more precise. A must-have for any serious Switch player!

I picked up the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller for my new Switch 2, and after a few weeks of use, I can confidently say it’s absolutely worth it. The build quality feels premium the moment you hold it — solid weight, great grip texture, and buttons that feel responsive and sharp. Motion controls are more refined, and the upgraded haptics add a noticeable boost to immersion, especially in action games. Battery life is also excellent — i forgot to charge it for more than 2 weeks and it still works. Connectivity is instant, no lag, and the controller stays stable even when playing farther from the console. I’ve t PS5 dualsense but this one feels like the real “pro” experience. If you’re buying a Switch 2 or upgrading from the older Pro Controller, this is the controller you want. It’s not cheap, but the comfort, precision, and quality make it worth every dollar. Highly recommended.

    Solid, solid controller

The Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller takes the successful, comfortable foundation of its predecessor and elevates it with several "pro" features that gamers have long requested. While it carries a premium price tag of approximately \$89.99, the additions—particularly the programmable back buttons and the inclusion of a headset jack—make it the definitive controller experience for the Switch 2 when playing in docked mode. Design and Ergonomics: Subtly Refined The overall shape and excellent ergonomics remain largely unchanged, maintaining the long grips and gentle curves that made the original Pro Controller so comfortable for extended sessions. However, the Switch 2 model introduces noticeable refinements: • Premium Finish: The shell shifts from the original's partially translucent, sometimes slightly glossy plastic to a smooth, matte black finish with light gray accents around the analog sticks and shoulder buttons. This gives it a more high-end, solid feel in the hand, though some users miss the grippier, rubberized material of the first version. • Improved Components: The face buttons (\text{A}/\text{B}/\text{X}/\text{Y}), D-pad, and analog sticks are quieter and smoother in operation. The analog sticks, in particular, move with a "silky" precision, and the D-pad feels more accurate and less prone to accidental diagonal inputs than the original. Key New Features The biggest changes are found in the controller's functionality, bringing it up to modern "pro" standards: 1. Programmable Back Buttons (\text{GL} and \text{GR}): This is the most significant addition. Two low-profile, mappable buttons are positioned flush on the back grips, right where your middle fingers naturally rest. These buttons can be assigned to mirror any other input (like jump, dash, or \text{R}3/\text{L}3), allowing players to keep their thumbs on the analog sticks during complex actions—a huge advantage in fast-paced or competitive games. Mapping is done easily through the Switch 2 system software on a per-game basis. 2. 3.5mm Headset Jack: Finally, a dedicated headphone jack is included on the bottom of the controller. This simple feature makes voice chat (in conjunction with the new GameChat function) and private audio significantly easier, eliminating the need to rely on Bluetooth or console-side audio solutions. 3. Dedicated GameChat (\text{C}) Button: A small, square \text{C} button is located near the center of the controller, providing quick, one-touch access to the Switch 2's new built-in voice and video chat functionality. 4. HD Rumble 2: The haptics are upgraded, matching the HD Rumble 2 found in the Joy-Con 2 controllers. This offers more detailed and nuanced vibrational feedback, providing a more immersive experience than the original's standard rumble. 5. Faster Charging: While the 40-hour battery life remains excellent (outlasting many competitors), the charging time has been significantly reduced, taking about 3.5 hours for a full charge compared to the six hours required by the original Pro Controller. Performance and Drawbacks In terms of performance, the controller is highly responsive, with no input lag reported. The combination of smooth analog sticks and the enhanced HD Rumble 2 makes for an excellent gaming experience. The main drawback, which is carried over from the original, is the lack of analog triggers (\text{ZL} and \text{ZR}). These remain digital buttons, which is a limiting factor for games that rely on pressure-sensitive input (like racing games that require incremental acceleration), and also hurts the controller's versatility for \text{PC} gaming. Furthermore, unlike high-end \text{PC} and other console "Elite" controllers, the Switch 2 Pro Controller does not utilize Hall Effect joysticks, meaning it may still be susceptible to long-term wear issues like stick drift. Verdict The Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller is an essential purchase for anyone who primarily plays the Switch 2 in docked mode. The programmable back buttons and the headset jack are monumental quality-of-life improvements that justify the controller's premium over the original's price. While it still lacks analog triggers and Hall Effect sticks, it stands as Nintendo's best first-party traditional gamepad yet.

Best controller I've ever used! It's lite and it's super comfortable to hold! Better than the first pro controller in every way. D-pad is better and pressing all the other face buttons feels so much better!

I have never purcahsed a pro controller for the switch but when i upgraded to a switch 2 i thought id give it a try. Boy was i impressed! This controller is game changing! It feels great in your hand, buttons are clicky and the analouge stick feels great! Also another huge plus is the battery lasts literally forever. Have only charged it once since ive purchased it and it still has been good to go without charging again. Highly recommend!!

If you owned the original Switch Pro controller, you'll pretty well know what you're buying. Excellent battery life and built quality, functions great, just a well rounded controller that holds its own with Sony and Microsoft's offerings. It now offers programmable rear buttons to bring it more in line with the Elite and DS Edge, but I doubt that most will find this a make or break feature. My only reason for docking it a star is because the only real reason you'r have to upgrade from the original is that the original won't wake the Switch 2 up. So you're really just paying a pretty premium price for very little improvement. Regardless, still a great controller with incredible battery life just like the original.

Improvement Over Original Switch Pro Controller

While not necessary if you have controllers made for the switch 1 and the price is kinda high. It does have a very smooth premium feel for the money at least. The extra back buttons that are easily programmed and have profiles saved for every game is a nice touch. Battery life is absurdly good and the sticks especially feel nice. My only real gripe is the price and the fact it feels like an artificial limitation that switch 1 controllers can’t wake the switch 2

Great build quality and feels great in hand. Very responsive. Ability to use C button for game chat is great. Upgraded from using the Switch 1 Pro controller and do not regret it.

For the price, this controller is the best I have used so far. The joysticks are buttery smooth, the buttons have a nice push feeling to them, and the battery life is phenomenal. The back grip buttons feel amazing as well, and not many controllers have this feature for the price. Would 100% Reccommend, best controler ever!

One of the best gaming controllers I have ever bought! Personally, I like the size I like where the button buttons lay with my hand placement. The feel of the controller the two extra programmable back buttons that can be programmed based on the game you are playing. I couldn’t ask for a better controller to use for the Nintendo switch two. However, one thing I will state that I have seen some people talk about is if you have smaller hands this controller is not for you.

Without a doubt one of the most comfortable and well-crafted controllers I've ever owned. I have played on all big 3 consoles and this controller takes the cake. The back buttons are a neat addition, there's an audio jack for game chat (Fortnite for example), new GameChat button, the sticks feel incredibly smooth, the buttons are great, its comfortable to hold and the triggers are good, though still not analog. The home button wakes up the console too! I highly recommend this, but if you have a switch 1 pro, stick with it a little longer.

I was wondering why I should get a new controller for the switch 2. I already have a pro controller from the switch 1. Then I heard how smooth it was. I thought maybe they were exaggerating. Then the moment I put it in my hands and I understand what everyone meant. It’s awesome. Pricey but battery life is amazing

The steep price is definitely gonna be a turn off for a lot of people, but if you can manage to get a good deal, it's definitely worth it. Controller feels great to use and the paddle buttons on the back being a standard addition here is an excellent addition. And with Steam recently adding support, it's also a great controller to use on PC as well

Honestly this controller is fantastic. The price is quite expensive but I can see why. The upgrade in the joysticks and the feel in the triggers and the buttons are just so much better then the previous generation. I would even compare or even say it's better then the Xbox controller currently.

Im lucky to be able of comparing between ps5, xbox and this controller… and man… this swtich pro 2 gets the best analog stickers motion/feeling in my opinion. Beyond that it just feels good. I have no complains. I just wish Nintendo added analog triggers as well but you know, I guess for that we would meed to play in another system. Oh and also i would like to see a special edition or something to make it look with more “personality”. You know that using this controller is this is the way to go whenever playing the switch docked. Battery life, 0 problems, i havent charged it since purchased (daylunch) today is like 25 days afterwards, but yeah I play maybe for an hour every 2 days average, so not a problem for me at all. One more thing, this is a food controller. But i dont think it could be reeeaaally considered a “Pro” version of a controller if compared with its similar named competitors on other systems. But from the price standpoint, its ok.. get it some discount and cant be mad at it.
