We bought a Switch after playing at a friend's house and decided we must have one. I love the flexibility of playing on the big screen or personally as a portable device, as well as being able to purchase game cartridges or download them from the store. I also love the availability of quality indie games at the Switch store. Nintendo is known for their party games, but I have the feeling I'll be breaking it out for individual play often.

Probably overpriced for it's capabilities and the games available, but I was looking for a way to introduce my 5 year old to gaming and Mario etc seemed like a good start. She's having fun and there are a few clear hits for this age group. I'm surprised at the poor quality of the controllers, but I've upgrade to 8bitdo controllers and would recommend those for anyone. Games are stupid expensive unless you get them on sale, but I've been spoiled by playing 5+ year old steam games for years.

'm a HUGE gamer (you might say part of the "hardcore gamer" crowd), and I have owned every major home console to exist from the Atari 2600 onwards. I have about 25 years' worth of those consoles still on my entertainment center. And while there are valid criticisms of the Switch (which I'll get into), it remains a 5-star experience, because this device is just simply fun, no matter who you are. Let me immediately jump into one of the chief concerns on folks' minds: games. Or lack thereof at launch. Nintendo has a fairly poor recent history of third-party support, but nonetheless, the Switch is the first system I've pre-ordered since the PS2 nearly 20 years ago. I have no concerns at all that the games will come. Why am I so confident? Because Nintendo's chief struggle has been a divided market for their games. In Japan everyone loves their handhelds (3DS/PSP), and consoles get ignored. Here in the Western market, we're the exact opposite. Because of that divide (along with unclear marketing), the WiiU never received the support it needed to succeed. That won't happen with the Switch. You'll see support for the 3DS (which has an amazing selection of quality games) slowly start to ebb, and Nintendo will eventually end up with one unified platform for all their software, East and West, portable and console. That means you'll see more great games on Switch, because things that used to be handheld-exclusive will now show up Switch... even if you intend to use the Switch docked 100% of the time. Which leads into my next point: I'm obviously an American gamer. I'm not into handhelds myself. When I bought this, I assumed I would use it docked 99% of the time. After owning it for a month, turns out I was wrong on that front, and this is where the Wii-style "it's just fun" comes in. The JoyCons feel like a natural evolution of the Wiimote, and enable a game like 1-2 Switch which, while admittedly on the shallow side, gets non-gamers engaged quickly and easily. I brought it over to my mother-in-law's when we were visiting a couple weeks ago, propped it up in the first-party carrying case (which also serves as an on-the-go stand), and I had non-gamers instantly engaged in the quick-draw and ball-count minigames. While I don't plan to bring it to rooftop parties or basketball courts (my word, those ads were silly), I can actually see the use-case of taking it along to a bar working out pretty well. The screen for sure is beautiful, and big enough to support off-TV multiplayer with no issue. And those JoyCons, by the way? I have large hands, and I'm as surprised as anyone to report that as tiny as they are, they're not uncomfortable to use even for hours as tiny individual controllers for multiplayer-on-the-go. And they feel even nicer when you use the two of them together, one in each hard. Honestly, you can forget the included grip. The freedom of being able to rest your hands anywhere you want while retaining full control is a revelation. Oh, and, side-note that I have not experienced any of the Left JoyCon connection issues which have been widely reported. As far as the battery life: it's definitely enough for my purposes, though maybe not everyone's. It gets in a solid 2.5 hours of battery life of high-intensity gaming, and naturally seems to do better than that for simpler games and lower brightness settings. The only use-case for me that doesn't work out is using it on cross-country or international flights. But frankly, it's not as far off from the 3DS's typical battery life as people are suggesting, and I know my iPhone 7 certainly doesn't do any better than the Switch does as far as battery life while gaming. I will say that, a minor annoyance to me is that the Switch's sleeping/idle battery usage is way, way too high. I took it out of the dock at 100% one time and left it on my coffee table. Next day it was completely dead and wouldn't turn on. So if you're going to take it out of the dock for use later, I suggest you turn it OFF, which can only be achieved by holding the power button on the device itself (via controller, SLEEP is the only power-off option given). Nagging little issue on the dock: I was one of an apparently somewhat large pool of people who received a dock which is bent inwards a bit. Seems like this may have been a packaging issue. Fortunately mine isn't bent as badly as some others I've seen online, and I have not experienced any resulting screen-scratching... yet. The fortunate thing on this front is, the parts of the screen that would potentially get scratched are on the far edges and are just black space anyway. Would not actually detract from the gaming experience were it to happen. More on the dock: I don't actually care myself, but for those who want it, the HDMI-CEC implementation seems wonky. When docked, my Switch would occasionally steal away the input even when in sleep mode. I just disabled the Switch's HDMI-CEC so it wouldn't do that anymore. I imagine a firmware update will solve that issue in short order anyhow. Transition between the dock, handheld mode, and back is just as smooth as Nintendo's ads represent it to be. Very, very slick. Have to also give props to Nintendo for adding a clear controller management screen for turning controllers on and off, which is something I struggled with on the Wii/WiiU (as in, this controller accidentally got turned on, is there seriously no way to turn it off without powering down the whole system? That's fixed now!). Can't judge online play yet, obviously, but for what it's worth, my download of Snipperclips (HIGHLY recommended for all ages, by the way) a week after launch was extraordinarily slow and suffered frequent disconnects. Impossible to tell if that's a device issue or a server issue, but for now I'll cross my fingers and hope it was a server issue. To be clear, if you want to play the latest sports games, FPS's, and the like, and you only plan to buy one game system... the Switch may not be for you. To me it's very much a supplement to one of: a gaming PC, PS4, or XB1, as far as hardcore gamers are concerned. But what a worthwhile supplement! Besides the 1st-party normal certainties (Zelda, Mario, Smash, Kart, Metroid, Donkey Kong, etc), you can be sure Monster Hunter, Xenoblade, Fire Emblem, Phoenix Wright, Professor Layton, and other compelling properties will be making appearances on Switch. In summary, the Switch is an awesome, fun device. It unapologetically does not have the graphical horsepower of the other major gaming devices on the market due to its hybrid nature, but that's fine with me... I care about fun games, not pixel-counting. If I could give it a 4.5 I would, but its issues are all minor enough that I wouldn't feel right deducting a full star. It's the new darling of my entertainment center, with the versatility of the JoyCons giving it a better range of appeal between the casual and hardcore crowds than any other gaming system, ever. I can't wait for more games to drop for it!

Now I’ve owned one for over a year and I love it!!! My nephew comes over all the time and is always wanting to play with my switch and when it’s time for him to go, he gets sad that he has to stop playing so I went ahead and bought him his own switch! He loved it as soon as he opened it! The actual switch is amazing! All the great games and the different ways to play it are awesome!

This Nintendo Switch was really purchased as a gift for my son. He enjoys the Nintendo line of games, especially anything Mario. I am impressed with how portable the game system is, and when plugged into the dock to play on a large screen tv, the gameplay is almost no difference, except for the touchscreen capability. Definitely a very good game system.

Longer battery life, for some reason better and brighter screen(?), AND I PRAY no joy-con drift hopefully.

So happy I ended up purchasing this! I love that you can play games or watch YouTube it’s a like a mini iPad! Love that you can set it up on the tv and play with multiple people

I have long had Nintendo products and a variety of them. I was leery of getting the Switch for unknown reasons and ended up purchasing one to pass the time by during Quarantine as I have not played video games for years. I have definitely come to enjoy my Switch! I do enjoy the portability of it, as well as the fact that I am able to plug into the TV and play. I have found that the graphics on the games is pretty clear as well (or maybe in my old age I'm more blind since the last time I gamed LOL). Either way, I do not have many complaints. The only complaint I would have is with Nintendo's actual "friend network" or whatever you want to call it. I have seen/heard from others who play on Playstations, XBOX, etc. that they are able to communicate with their online friends by creating a party directly on the machine itself and thus going from there. There is no such thing with Nintendo. You must download the app and take it from there (which I did not do because I do not want to have to use my app while I am playing on my Switch console). Maybe I'm just picky but as I said that is literally one of the only complaints I can come up with, except for maybe that I am still waiting on the range of games offered on the Switch to maybe expand a little bit. Again, picky. Overall, would recommend.

This was an excellent gift for my cousin. He really enjoys playing games and this was his favorite gift!

What a great gaming platform that plays great on our home television and is very transportable to keep the kids busy in the car or at the grandparent’s house. Even the adults have fun with it. Great family fun when you add the joy-con CJ trollers to easily make it a 4-player system. There are lots of games for many individual gaming interests.

This switch has been so fun! It works so good and I highly recommend!

I have loved my Nintendo Switch. I have always been kind of disappointed with Nintendo products in the past. Either not enough games or portable consoles just kind of sucked. But to have it as a portable console and a console you can use on your T.V. I am impressed. I also like that they have so many games to choose from. No complaints at all about this system. Lots of fun and so good to see so many games to choose from.

This is a very versatile gaming system from playing as a handheld with controllers attached to the sides, to watching the screen with multiple handheld controllers for multi-player, to projecting it to the TV. Lasts 5-6hrs on a full charge. Games are pricey at $60, but there are a few cheaper options with downloadable games. Pretty much need to buy an additional controller set for $79 and we added the $8 screen protector.

I have been wanting to buy the switch since the “Stay in place” order started. Everyday l searched until just recently found it on BB site and grabbed it! So glad I did I love it! Works great no issues. I like that I can travel with it, play while I am out of the home and the. When home connect to my tv and play on the big screen.. it is perfect!

First of all, I am not a serious gamer. I have always been a fan of Nintendo and the products they put out. I spend the majority of my time playing Mario Kart 8, but I have also purchased Splatoon 2, Breath of the Wild, and 1-2 Switch so far. I highly recommend the Switch to anyone who enjoys games put out by Nintendo. I've enjoyed being able to play the console in handheld mode while watching TV or while traveling. The biggest drawback is the hidden costs. Some are optional, but some are not. First, no games come with the console. 1-2 Switch is very overpriced and is not worth paying full-price for, and I really wish Nintendo had included this game with the console. Second, 32 GB is not a lot of storage. I spent an additional $50 or so on a large SD card so that I could download the games there and use the 32 GB only for the game data. This can be remedied by buying physical games; personally, I've always preferred physical games but decided to go the digital route this time around, and I have found it really nice to be able to switch between games so easily. I tend to play a variety of games now since I don't have to physically change them out. Third, I would recommend buying a screen protector for the Switch. These are inexpensive, but I have heard that the screen is susceptible to scratching. Finally, I have always been a fan of the Pro controllers. I would never play Mario Kart, for example, using the joy cons, unless I was traveling and using them in handheld mode. The pro controllers are $70 a piece, and I have four of them for when I play with others.

Great. We got this so that we could play family games together. It has been marvelous. We are truly enjoying it.

If you play handheld majority, this switch's battery life is an amazing upgrade. The system runs extremely cool, the chipset in this switch should have been the original chipset to begin with. If you play predominantly docked this isn't worth it for you. If you don't have a switch yet, GET THIS ONE!

I bought this for my nephew’s birthday and he was so happy !! He plays with it everyday. This was his favorite gift that day !

My daughter wanted this system for a long time and finally received one for Xmas. She enjoys it and cannot say enough about the joy factor and game play, since we can barely get her to stop. No issues with the quality of the product; it has an easy hook up to our TV and Nintendo has always been a great gaming system, which speaks for itself.
