It much lighter and easier to manage than the original, and feels more solidly built thanks to being all one piece. The battery seems to last a little longer as well! I would recommend getting a case and a screen protector to cut down on the glare if playing during the day. Highly recommended!

I love that I can put restrictions on what type of games he can have access to and how much screen time he has. You will need an sd card for extra storage.

Great alternative to the full Switch for kids

It's a great alternative the the full Switch for his use. He's normally playing on-the-go and would probably rarely dock the Switch to play on the TV anyway. The size is small enough to be extremely portable, but not too large for his hands. Construction quality seems good as you'd expect from Nintendo.
